After the longest 2 weeks of my life the NIPT result is in and it was negative for all three trisomy. I can not tell you the relief! We have also found out that we are having a little girl. We were both convinced that it was a boy and had picked George as a name. So now it's back to square one. My husband likes Margaret which is his grandmas name. I like it, but don't think we can have it as our dog is called Maggie. We will see

Interesting to read what you have said about the breast feeding. I'd like to give it a go but not sure if I will be able to as I have one partly inverted nipple (got bumped when I was a young teenager). I was also looking at the perfect prep machines online thinking that they looked so easy...

peachypetite · 30/06/2020 15:55

Thanks for that leche link, looks great!!

RestorationInsanity · 30/06/2020 15:56

That is fantastic news @confused107 you must be so so relieved, and congratulations on your little girl! At some point we will have to have a full list of boys/girls/unknowns!

Thanks for that link @PipTed, have heard La Leche League are supposed to be really good if you're keen to breastfeed.

confused107 · 30/06/2020 16:01

I don't know if anybody who has had the NIPT test is able to advise but they have sent through the report and in the clinical notes it says no next to IVF and this is a IVF pregnancy. I'm hoping that as it's a DNA test it makes no difference but i have replied to the email to check. What a roller coaster!

nearlyamummyof2boys · 30/06/2020 16:08

I'm so happy @confused107 I love George.

I can remember who said Margot earlier on but I love that name. I love Willow and Harlowe for girls!

Fredthespider · 30/06/2020 16:09

@Pinktruffle tbh it's a complete lottery as to whether you get one that sleeps or not! After a rocky start mine was bf from 2 weeks and slept 8 hours from around 8 weeks up to 10/11 hours by 11 weeks. A friend in ante-natal fed formula and theirs didn't sleep through until about 5 months.

Having BF and FF I can say that hands down BF is so much less hassle, especially at night and when you're out and about. FF does have it's benefits though with getting help from partners. I'd recommend the perfect prep machine. I relied on it! The odd time I had to make up a bottle at someone else's house using a kettle etc I was completely useless at getting the temp right.

Should also point out that there is no reason you can't do both at the same time like I did from 4 months. Mine took a bottle from birth for 2 weeks due to a tongue tie (I expressed) so OH did night shifts for me from the get go - should say he was often useless the next day though. I really thought he would cope better with being woken up at night but there must be something in the mothering instincts/hormones that means we cope better on not much sleep.

@confused107 that's great news on the NIPT! Congrats on your little girl :)

Kj1010 · 30/06/2020 16:44

@confused107 brilliant news you must be so relieved I'm undecided on wether to try breast feeding didn't with other three and thb wasnt never asked if I wanted to all mine slept through from 5 weeks so very lucky there been a bit scared panicky today woke up with a dull ache right above pubic bone that felt like it was going all through my womb it's only just calmed down so fears of something going wrong is up today I honestly dont think I'll be ok till I actually deliver this one 😔

RestorationInsanity · 30/06/2020 16:57

@confused107 don't know for sure but maybe they record if it's IVF as they probably use info when doing stats on IVF pregnancies compared with non assisted conception. So can't imagine it makes any difference to the results just for statistical purposes.

lionsmum · 30/06/2020 17:01

@nearlyamummyof2boys thank you so much! how are you doing?😊

@roro87 ohh Arlo is on our list too! It's such a lovely name!

@MummyShark97 we are in a new build too (18 months now too) and absolutely love it, so nice walking in and everything being brand new and being able to make it your own. I wish I'd done what @EithneBlue mentioned and chased harder on the smaller snags though, even those that appeared 6 months down the line🙄 but they were just minor

@excitednerves ahh lovely choice, Leo was the name of our first son💙 is really is my absolute favourite name. We'll be using it as a middle name for this little one too!

@confused107 huge congratulations on your baby girl! & wonderful news that your tests all came back negative💖

Sorry for the long post, seems to be my way! Just thought I'd add you ladies were right with your guesses, we found out we are expecting baby boy💙 such emotional news to find out but I feel my heart was needing another boy in my life (of course all I truly want is a healthy baby) but finding out we are having another boy was just the icing on the cake🤗

Amyyy1 · 30/06/2020 17:17

Hi all, hope you are all well!! This thread moves so fast it's hard to keep up sometimes. Congrats to everyone who's found out genders in the past couple of days and had good results back from their tests😍

I've been to Sainsburys today (first outing since lockdown began other than work so was very anxious) and they had some lovely bits in the baby section, I bought lots of Peter Rabbit items! I've managed to get lots in 6-9 months but I am struggling to find any newborn and 0-3 months at the moment. I'll most likely hold out for them anyway until Autumn when the winter clothes start appearing more

nearlyamummyof2boys · 30/06/2020 18:29

@Amyyy1 I love their Peter Rabbit stuff it's lovely! We're gonna do a Peter Rabbit theme 1st for my son 💙

I always struggled with newborn stuff in Sainsbury's - I found Tesco's has a lot more.

nearlyamummyof2boys · 30/06/2020 18:31

@lionsmum I'm over the moon for you having a little boy. It was meant to be 💙 I love the name Leo as well. It's lovely you're using it as a middle name!
I'm doing ok OH took week off work to help with our son cause of my back which has been lovely!

ChampooPapi · 30/06/2020 20:11

As it's twins I'm going to bottle feed this time, I'll use a goat based formula if they take to it, as well as pumped breast milk.

I breast feed with my last two girls, and did mix feed with my first as well with formula when I was working and for ease every other day or whatever.

I kept up breast feeding till 18 months with her and with my last stopped at a year.

Destroyed my nipples both time for the first month but pushed through and as I had no tongue tied babies and good supply after the initial struggle of the laceration to the nipples 😬, after that it was second nature.

But with the twins definitely no more boob action, i will express breast milk and bottle feed as well as use formula this time around.

It was an internal battle for myself as I'd definitely breast feed again with one, it's free, it's sanitary and it's so easy if your able & no health issues with yourself or the baby, nappy in the back pocket and your boobs are attached so it makes going out with a baby very straight forward.

I'm approaching the nervous insanity now of the 20 week scan looming. Dam this week! I need it to be the night before my scan tonight!. 7 more sleeps, sigh 😆

I'm also expanding, I can feel I am going to be so slow and huge by the end of this trimester. The reality of how useless I may become is hitting me, oh my god I'm going to be a beached bloody whale!

@confused107 great news on your results! Fantastic. It doesn't matter I don't suppose on it being ivf, and you can still have exactly the same test if the baby is ivf so I think it's just an admin thing.

Waves @danielasummer 💞 sending a big virtual hug too, you'll have to bump shot us in a week or two, how is the bump times developing? Great link 💃

Snowwhite2020 · 30/06/2020 21:12

@confused107 great news about your results, congrats :)

@MummyShark97 @peachypetite @PipTed I am still having some days where I am sick but mostly only if prompted by a bad smell or stress or something. Sickness definitely better but like you, I am hungry in the morning and lunch and then by dinner time bump is tight and I really struggle to eat dinner. Off so many foods and don’t really have any cravings tho I am partial to salt and vinegar crisps which seem to settle my tummy if I’m feeling sick! Ah the joys!

I am also getting weird pain/ stretchy feeling in my bump in the middle, especially in the evenings which I assume is just stretching... it is certainly on the increase in terms of size!

Xx

roro87 · 30/06/2020 22:12

Thanks everyone for feedback on names, great to know I'm not the only one who likes those names. Had a bit of a funny turn last night and fainted. Loved reading yours posts about breastfeeding just wondering your opinion on pumping and bottle feeding occasionally to make partner feel involved and help out planning on freezing some if i can and have enough.

@lionsmum congratulations that is really lovely.

@confused107 great news so glad everything was clear congratulations on have a girl

Beccarans89 · 30/06/2020 23:16

@confused107 that's fantastic news, I'm so pleased the results were good for you!!

We had our 20 week scan today (I'm actually only 19 weeks) and all looked great so that was lovely!! However we did get a bit of a surprise as my private scan 2 weeks ago said a baby girl, and today they confirmed it was a boy!! Very happy either way but did make us laugh! Hope everyone is doing well xx

peachypetite · 01/07/2020 03:59

@Beccarans89 Shock wow that must have been a bit weird having in your mind you’re having a girl and now being told something else!

firstbabybell · 01/07/2020 07:10

@roro87 hope youre ok! Were you getting up from sitting or something?

I am definitely going to give breastfeeding a try & love the idea of expressing to bottle feed so that OH can be more involved. Think of the calories if nothing else! I had a breast reduction though so don't know if I'll be able to. I did wake up with some crustiness on one of my nipples (sorry TMI!) this week though so I'm really hoping it may have been collostrum? Think someone else said they'd had that too. 😃

@confused107 brilliant news about your result x

Beccarans89 · 01/07/2020 08:24

@peachypetite yes it has been a bit weird! We had a name and I'd got used to calling the baby 'she' etc and had bought a few bits so has been a bit of an adjustment! Feel like I might need a few days to process it before I can do anything/buy anything else for the baby lol x

Babyhope98 · 01/07/2020 08:34

Oh wow that must have been a shock 😅 @Beccarans89 hope that doesn’t happen to me as I have brought quite a few girl bits now 🤣

MummyShark97 · 01/07/2020 09:12

@Beccarans89 no way I keep joking about this happening with my husband! Congratulations though it makes a lovely, personal story for you to tell him one day haha!

How is everyone feeling today? I've gone right back to the 1st trimester today with nausea tiredness and an awful headache, tried some yoga and a bit of plain food but nothing is working...actually called in sick for the first time as my body is just saying nope!

Amyyy1 · 01/07/2020 10:02

@Beccarans89 Oh wow, I'm starting to wonder if we should have bought so many clothes now incase that happens to us 😅

@MummyShark97 My sickness has been back a couple of weeks now quite bad but just started to get rubbish headaches as well. Think that might be where I haven't been eating great from the nausea though?? Hope it doesn't last too long for you😬

RestorationInsanity · 01/07/2020 12:18

@Beccarans89 congratulations on your baby gi....boy! How odd for you but lovely nonetheless. Am not surprised you need a few days to adjust.

@MummyShark97 sorry you're feeling rough. I've not been sleeping well the past few nights, just can't get comfortable. And last night I had terrible pains (fairly positive they were caused by constipation/trapped wind) but all very out of the blue as my digestive system had been functioning quite normally! Pain has subsided today but it was disconcerting.

I finally have my scan date. 17 July, when I will be exactly 20 weeks! Hoping the baby movement picks up a bit before then as I think it will really help with the inevitable scanxiety.

MummyShark97 · 01/07/2020 12:25

@Amyyy1 Awh thank you! Hope you pick up soon too it's so unique to everyone isn't it!

@restorationinsanity oh dear that sounds rubbish too , good news about your scan date though! Mine is 15 July, not long now.

Glad I listened to my body as I've had a good sleep and feel a little better, going to have something to eat now and will promptly be back to bed!
