Anyone with complete placenta previa not bleed?

I am just over 35 weeks with placenta previa that is totally covering, the specialist told me 90% women do bleed with this, however I haven’t... yet!
Did anyone not bleed or bleed after 35 weeks for the first time? X

I didn't. Had no problems at all then had a scheduled c section at 39+1.

Thats good to know. They have scheduled mine for 37+5 and put the fear in me of the potential outcomes x

Mine was covering at 20 weeks but moved sometime before 33 weeks - I never bled though

No bleeding here either and scheduled c section at 39 weeks. Hospital terrified me too with potential risks but I think it was good to be aware. I started mat leave at 34 weeks on their advice which was nice actually. Take care and I hope everything goes well

I has very very light spotting at 35 weeks and went to hospital as advised. They kept me in and I had a major bleed on the second night (they had considered sending me home that day). I woke up bleeding in the middle of the night (thought I had wet myself!) Prepped for section and then bleeding stopped. Scan 2 weeks later showed slowed growth and baby born by section at 37+1 and now healthy toddler!

My friend also had complete previa and no bleeds at all.

Do most deliver early with this?

@Gizmo2206 @Katy75 how were your sections? Been warned of blood transfusions, hysterectomy, intensive care etc.... some real stories would be appreciated x

@Avearage seems to differ with each hospital, I think latest 39 weeks but mine is 37 weeks x

Mine was adament to get me til 39 weeks even when inpatient (I also have a toddler so quite frustrating!) Only 37 weeks because of baby being growth restricted. Section went absolutely fine though was performed by my consultant and delayed a day as he said he wanted the most experienced team on hand in case of bleeding etc. I had normal levels of bleeding but was readmitted a few days after and needed transfusion (i had anaemia before the section tho!)

I'm going to ask to have iron levels checked,keep coming over really sick and dizzy and breathless enough to make me sit and hold head in hands... Wondering if it could low iron 🤔 I find out next week if placenta has moved from completely covering at 21 weeks ... Hopefully it has!!

I had a small bleed at 30 weeks but nothing else. At 36+5, I had a routine growth scan and the sonographer saw that I had vasa previa as well as placenta previa so I was admitted there and then and had a c section the next day. It was frustrating as it was a Saturday and I had to wait until both senior consultants were available but the c section went absolutely fine. Slightly more blood loss than my previous section but nothing out of the norm. Baby was absolutely fine.

I had grade 4 place at previs and never bled. It wasn't picked up till my 20 week scan. I was just very careful and took precautions because my nearest hospital was 45 mins away (midwife led unit in my town couldn't help if I stared bleeding).

How does it move do you know?

Placenta pevia. Damn auto correct!

@greathat as your uterus grows it moves up with it. Imagine putting a dot in a balloon before its blown up, then when you blow it up the location of the dot would move... does that make sense?! X

It was my 3rd section and the easiest recovery initially. I lost 1.5-2l if blood in theatre but the did what they called "cell saver" where they kept the blood I lost, cleaned it and did some other stuff and I got a transfusion in the recovery room of 750ml of my own blood. I did have a problem with infections afterwards but that's not specific to placenta previa.

My placenta was clear of my scar luckily enough but covered my cervix and was going up the posterior wall so right from the start I was told I was next to impossible for it to move. I was determined to have a natural birth for my last baby but it wasn't to be. It took me a while to come to terms with it all but the team where lovely and because I had had a section before I wasn't as worried or scared as I might have been.

Few years ago for me, but had a tiny bleed the day before my scheduled section at 39 weeks. Straight in for monitoring as had placenta previa, and found to be in early labour. Admitted immediately for an "expediated section" (not emergency, but not planned!!), but they were so busy had to wait till the following day when they were still busy, but the planned list were all sent home. Had a bleed during my section which they stopped with a Rusch balloon, but no transfusion or further issues except a bit of pain on the day of surgery, and was closely monitored post birth. Home 3 days later and out pushing a pram quickly afterwards! Since had a further 2 sections and had speedy recovery's from both.

Nobody made a big deal out of my placenta previa, so wasn't really aware of how dangerous it was. Think it was more or less covering as there was no debate about it moving or later scans after my 32 week!

When my mum had me (back in 1960s, pre ultrasound etc) she had a tiny bit of spotting, at 36 weeks, and that was it. They insisted on taking her in to hospital, which was a pain as she had 2 toddlers, felt fine, and was 4 weeks from due date.

One week later her waters broke and initiated a bleed, which then led to a C section and delivery.

So, initially no bleeding at all, only when she went into labour.

Did movements feel any differently with placenta being so low 🤔
