*moan. Not loan - sure we'd all be happy with one of those!! Blush

ChampooPapi · 17/07/2020 12:37

Hey @Zoey36, great to see your update and that your doing well. We are getting stuck into these pregnancies now arnt we! We will have to do a post natal thread, though I seem to remember joining one with my last that I then totally forgot about when being swept up in the intense newborn phase 😆🤦

@FireflyGirl that sounds awful, absolutely worst bloody thing having a transverse baby for your back, hips, general physicality! Honestly even with twins nothing compares to a transverse baby and how uncomfortable and dam right painful it is. I really feel for you, it's like you look like a normal pregnant woman on the outside, but internally your body is screaming in pain. A few people ive know have been in the same position but I don't know how likely it is that transverse babies turn? I feel like it's either often or hardly ever! Always seems to be one or the other with pregnancy things! Just so sorry you are having to cope with it

Leok83 · 17/07/2020 20:44

Hi ladies,

Can I ask when did you all start to feel sick for those of you who had morning sickness.
I'm trying to remember the time before the MC and I thought I was sick by this stage but I can't remember fully, even though I thought at the time I'd never forget it! Of course now I'm concerned I'm eating away as normal with no queasiness.

BS9790 · 17/07/2020 20:50

@FireflyGirl... Stupid question? But how do you know baby is transverse?

I keep seeing people on the October thread say... I know my baby is breech from my scan etc... But don't they move around?!

I have no idea what part of him is where 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ 😂😂

AlviesMam · 18/07/2020 07:59

@BS9790 I got told she was frank breech at my twenty week scan but my midwife on Monday seems to think she's head down after having a feel. Still very muffled movement so god knows where she's lying lol, did they mention your position at the scan?

@FireflyGirl omg when you say it's only 15 weeks that scares me because we're due on the same date eeeek. I feel you on back pain though and I can't seem to turn over in bed without round ligament pain making me cry, really starting to feel the extra weight now!

Whiffle77 · 18/07/2020 08:49

Moan away @FireflyGirl that is what we are here for!! Hope you are a bit more comfortable today, is there a different type of support you can try?
My back aches in the morning when I wake up, my bump is super achy the past day or two as well so maybe they are having a growth spurt.
It is scary @AlviesMam isn't it when you start counting the other way. I am only 20 weeks but started counting how many weeks of work I had left (had a very bad week at work!!) And it really doesn't sound that long...especially given how fast a lot of this year seems to have gone.

ChampooPapi · 18/07/2020 10:18

@Leok83 I'd say around six and a half to 7 weeks the full absolutely quease death train fully hit me. It is different with every pregnancy, though I'd say it's more common to get worse with each subsequent pregnancy more often then not. Depends on how bad you actually got it last time, mine is always crippling to a point where I actually think I've got some kind of terminal illness! I literally can hardly move or eat from week 7-11, and I always think oh Lord ive got that sickness disease and it'll last forever! Then from around 11/12 weeks it slowing ebbs away, coming back to haunt me on many occasions over the next few months, but never as bad as those 3/4 weeks of hellish bed bound seasickness. I have repeated it 4 times now as this is my fourth pregnancy, and it's pretty spot on each time. Give it time and prepare for it because it does suddenly kind of hit you, one day your ok, the next completely f*cked! But a good friend had it so awful with her first and non at all with her second so you can also be very lucky and absolutely avoid the same fate of neseua and sickness.

TerribleImagination · 18/07/2020 10:26

@Leok83 For me it hit me at 6 weeks and I thought it was peaking around 9 weeks, but week 12 hit and I felt SO much worse 🤢 It started to ease off at 13 weeks, but is still there mildly now at almost 15 weeks, but MUCH more manageable.

BS9790 · 18/07/2020 10:48

@AlviesMam, during my 20 week scan he went from being laid diagonal across to being head right down...
On one scan he was back to back and on another he was the other way 🤷‍♀️

I just assumed how they were laid at 1 particular scan didn't really mean anything?

My movements are probably a bit more regular now but they don't seem as strong as ones I had earlier on!

FireflyGirl · 18/07/2020 13:21

@BS9790 that's how she was laid at my scan, transverse and facing downwards, but also that's the only way she could be laid based on the movement/bits poking me (which the sonographer showed me). I have a constant feeling of something taking up the right side of my abdomen, with occasional wriggles over there, and then kicks/pokes just next to my belly button, and on the nerve of my bladder.

They're supposed to move to head down from about 24 weeks, which I'm hoping she will as it'll give me some relief! The people on your thread who mention being breech, as I understand it, to go from breech to head down after that time is really noticeable for the mum.

@Leok83 with DS 6 years ago, it started at dead on 6 weeks and lasted until around 26 weeks. With this one, it started more or less as soon as I had the positive test and had mostly gone by 16 weeks.

@AlviesMam I do anything like turning over in bed or standing up veeeeeery slowly, and make sure to brace for a sneeze.

MilsCookie · 18/07/2020 13:38

@Leok83 I have barely had any nausea this time round. With my mmc I felt so sick from the moment I did the test til about 8/9 weeks (I suppose when things started to go wrong 😞) and was completely off my food, could only eat small mouthfuls. This time round I've literally had none!! I had a couple of days where I thought 'oh, this is it' as I might have not fancied my cereal that morning or something, but I really have had zero sickness this time and obviously I was worrying so much that something was wrong, but I'm almost 16 weeks now and so far so good! So I don't think nausea is a test for whether things are progressing well or not, so try not to worry if you don't have any yet (easier said than done I know!) 😘 The main symptom for me this time round has been horrendous headaches, that actually got worse weeks 10-15 😩 I don't wanna speak too soon but...... I didn't have one yesterday and I don't have one today!!!! 🎉

Also.... I've been feeling little pops and flutters for the last 2 weeks now, and last night I felt two quite strong kicks and had my hand on my tummy and couldn't work out whether I could also feel it externally, so got my partner to feel as well and we both jumped at the same time cos we felt another kick!!! I can't believe how early it is to be feeling it?! I had tears in my eyes 🥺 it was the most incredible feeling 😍😍😍 and the fact my partner felt it too was just magical!! I know I have a posterior placenta so maybe that's why!

Whiffle77 · 18/07/2020 13:55

Oh my goodness @MilsCookie that's super early!! And so exciting for your partner! Mine only started last week, but have got progressively stronger each day so I'm hoping it isn't too long until my husband can feel! He can't wait! I love feeling them move, I thought it would feel more weird than it is, but its just lovely! Just got a boot as I typed that! 😍

BS9790 · 18/07/2020 15:15

@FireflyGirl, I quite often have a wonky bump, it seems like he's usually very much all to one side. Usually the right, but occasionally the left.
I feel kicks low down either to the side or straight down, but I assume I don't feel them higher up because of my placenta position.
I'd be interested to know how he's laid, I always wonder! I don't have a clue 😂

Leok83 · 18/07/2020 16:40

Aw wow @MilsCookie! such a lovely moment for you and DH to share together!

@FireflyGirl that sounds pretty sore having a transverse baby..hopefully she’ll get her head down soon!

Thanks for the replies everyone, sounds like it could hit at any time or maybe not if I get lucky!! Although you are miserable with it and worry why you don’t have it without it. I’ve remembered now that last year I actually had a cold/possible flu the week I found out and it just went on from there so probably feels like I was sicker earlier because of that.

@ChampooPapi You paint a good picture of the morning sickness and reminded me to enjoy the fact I don’t feel it now! It was like being permanently hungover and I’d get room spins when I tried to lie down and sleep..that was the worst!

MilsCookie · 18/07/2020 20:11

@Leok83 @Whiffle77 I loved it 😍 felt amazing! Just wish it would happen more often haha.

Ladies I have two questions....1) is it normal when you get to the top of a lot of stairs for you to feel the blood pounding into your head? 🤔
2) did/does anyone suffer with upper back pain? Like where your back bra strap would be - all across there? Mainly at one of the sides. It has become so so painful these last two days that I'm having to sit with a hot water bottle on it. And the annoying thing is I feel like my headaches are going....but the back ache is starting!!! Just seems a weird place for it to be.... like I would expect low back pain but not upper? 😫

MilsCookie · 18/07/2020 20:12

*pounding IN your head

P.s. I have done ZERO exercise so I haven't pulled a muscle or anything!

BS9790 · 18/07/2020 20:22

@MilsCookie I've had upper back ache. Since really early on, and still get it most days!
Find a nice warm bath or shower helps x

TerribleImagination · 18/07/2020 21:16

@MilsCookie I definitely find when I go upstairs for a wee, by the time I’m sat on the loo I can feel my heartbeat in my head 🤣🤣 So you’re not alone there!

MilsCookie · 18/07/2020 22:33

Okay thank you @BS9790 @TerribleImagination I'm glad it's not just me!! So far my second trimester has definitely been harder than the first!!! 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

BecsterG · 19/07/2020 08:35

Hi Ladies,

How lovely @MilsCookie. Love when you start to feel it.

@Leok83 I think I was about 6 weeks with this baby until about 10 when it stop quite suddenly which obviously worried me! Ha ha When I was pregnant with my DS I felt rough from 6 to 16 weeks and I'm having another boy so really does vary from pregnancy to pregnancy. I remember at 4/5 weeks being worried as I felt completely normal!

@MilsCookie I definitely feel out of breath and about like that when I get to the top of the stairs. It's worse now than it has been and it will get worse as we get bigger.

My DS is just lying on me whilst watching some tv and has felt his baby brother kick for the first time. Ha ha not sure he really understands though x

MilsCookie · 19/07/2020 18:27

Aww that's so lovely @BecsterG - even if he doesn't quite understand! Has he gone back to nursery now? Hope you're finding things a bit easier! x

Another qu ladies... anyone have melasma on their face? And know how the hell I get rid of it? I had it before I was pregnant on my forehead but since being pregnant and being in the sun it just seems to have got worse. It totally ages me!! Hoping there's some miracle cream/gel or something out there to get rid of it haha... maybe wishful thinking?!

AlviesMam · 19/07/2020 18:53

@MilsCookie Me! My forehead and under my eyes have dark patches, I've been using brightening creams from certain brands but with all this lovely weather in lockdown it has gotten worse :( I'm just continuing with my creams and hoping they fade out soon xx

Whiffle77 · 19/07/2020 19:17

Oh god me too! Mine is mainly on my upper lip though so it looks like I have a really uneven mustache 😫😫 another glamorous side of pregnancy!!!

BecsterG · 19/07/2020 19:29

@MilsCookie Yes he went back on a Wednesday so tomorrow will be my first full working week when it will just be me (and the plasterers) in the house since the second week in March when DS was home with the chicken pox. Honestly I'd forgotten how productive I can be at work without a small person around. Grin

I've got a few days of leave coming up and I seriously cannot wait. So overdue time off work. It's definitely less stressful without Max around anyway.

Ladies I have had such bad reflux today. I had it with DS a little towards the start but today has been awful. It's better when I eat but after...OMG! Maybe I'm having a super hairy baby this time around!

Ladies you absolutely have to use factor 50 every day! And reapply on your face every 2-3 hours I'm afraid. I get it with every pregnancy and although it fades after pregnancy if you darken it further with tanning it can take years go, or involve a lot of expensive laser like I had to have to get it fairly under control. Pigmentation is no joke that's for sure, some may be hyper pigmentation, some may be post inflammatory, and some may be melesama, and hormones. The prevention of factor 50, preferably sink or mineral sunscreen, is the only way, the cure is post baby to keep on with the factor 50 unfortunately (because once you've had it you are even more susceptible, so don't ever go trying to use hair removal cream on your upper lip or face unless you want much more permanent brown marks!)

Only perescription strength retinol, hydroquinone bleaching 4 percent or higher (also only prescription) or laser treatment actually fades these marks if you don't wear a factor every day, even on a very cloudy one.

It will fade a lot when you've had the baby, it's very much linked to hormones, but our skin does change when pregnant and becomes more sensitive to environmental factors so definitely invest in some decent mineral or a physical sun block (the chemical ones contain really unpleasant ingredients).

I can link a few brilliant options next, one is less 'natural' i.e not a physical barrier but one that sinks in and creates a reaction with the skin (like all the ones on the shelf at boots/superdrug ect) but was recommended by my dermatologist who treats many patients who have had skin cancer so I trust her judgement
