Why do we have to call it BFP and BFN it sounds so ...well infantile!

We are grown women. Mumsnetters need to rise above these things.

What's wrong with Positive Pregancy Test?

lilibet · 21/09/2007 11:29

Blob??

Bleurgh

DarrellRivers · 21/09/2007 11:29

but AF has to be in caps which adds to typing

MamaMaiasaura · 21/09/2007 11:29

I dont like or dislike them tbh (to be honest) But that is because I got used to using them on the ttc (trying to conceive) threads

Sex is muuuuuucccchhh better tho!

NotAnOtter · 21/09/2007 11:29

OP posts:
MamaMaiasaura · 21/09/2007 11:30

lol how about OTR (on the rag lol)

TellusMater · 21/09/2007 11:30

When I joined MN I though AF and BFP were acronyms for some technical terms I was unaware of. Was worried as I am a Biology teacher.

Then I read the list...

lilibet · 21/09/2007 11:30

Had anyone heard of teh term Auntie Flo before they came on this board?

wheresthevalium · 21/09/2007 11:30

So what do BFP BFN and BD stand for?

DarrellRivers · 21/09/2007 11:30

I'm a medic and thought you lot were all having Atrial Fibrillation once a month

expatinscotland · 21/09/2007 11:31

LOL @ 'baby dancing'!

How twee and goofy can you get??

wheresthevalium · 21/09/2007 11:31

OK, just read the list, ew

DarrellRivers · 21/09/2007 11:31

And that BD meant twice a day, so that puzzled me for ages

lilibet · 21/09/2007 11:31

I remember OTR being bandied about when I was at school!

Jam rag was another pleasant term!

MamaMaiasaura · 21/09/2007 11:32

no, but made me look at my Aunty Flossie in a different way!

expatinscotland · 21/09/2007 11:32

And nothing on the entire planet is more annoying than, 'We're pregnant.'

Men cannot get pregnant! YOU are pregnant.

TellusMater · 21/09/2007 11:32

And BFP and BFN just seem at first glance to be a very concerning combination of BNP and NF.

MamaMaiasaura · 21/09/2007 11:33

lol Darrell - I did one of my placement on cardiac and that is what i thought when i first saw AF lol. And the bi daily BD.

lilibet · 21/09/2007 11:33

TC - ' the curse'

very old one from my mum's day

always made me snigger when I was younger and reading The Lady of Shallott

"The Curse has come upon me cried the Lady of Shallott"

Gill79 · 21/09/2007 14:30
