How often are babies actually born on their due date

Just curious... expecting my first and wondering how common it is for babies to be born on their due date? Due date is the same as my mum’s birthday so would love to know in reality how likely it is? What are your experiences? X

I think it is about 5%. DS was a due date baby and people always comment on how rare it is.

I think it’s something like 10%.
My first was born on the due date, then second was due on the same date several years later, but ended up arriving a couple of weeks early.

About 4% of babies - 1 in 25 - are born on their due date. I’m an antenatal teacher and when I ask groups to guess this, it’s always wildly out! It’s such a tiny number, given how much weight we put on the EDD.

80% are born in the two weeks before or after your due date. The average length of gestation for a first term pregnancy is 41 weeks 1 day.

One of mine came on their due date and the other came one day early

Both of mine came before their due date, but I arrived on mine!

It must be a small number. 38-42 weeks is full term, some are born earlier so the chances are really around 1 in 28+.

DS1 arrived 1 day before he was due DS2 10 days before he was due.

Mine was pulled out on due date (forceps, after many hours of unsuccessful pushing). I wish I could have kept her tucked away inside me a bit longer as she was clearly not ready to come out , but the consultant said it's best to induce as i had GD, even though she was just an average size baby. Mine was a due date baby too didnt realise it was quite so rare.

Would love it to be called something different by the medical profession.

I've had four children - one on his due date, one the day before, one the day after - and my last was 2 weeks early. (I thought it was Braxton Hicks because my first 3 babies were so punctual!)

DS1 was a due date baby.

I had 6 babies. One on the due date, one the day before and 4 all around 2 weeks late.

My first was a couple of weeks late.

I have had many babies. None on due date. Closest was 2 days away.

My first was a due date baby, didn't realise until talking to people afterwards that it wasn't that common. My second was nine days early.

First was the day after due date and second was 10 days early

My friends second daughter was born on her due date, she was moaning to me in the morning saying she didn't even have any niggles and then I got a photo of her by 7 pm that night

I have 3 and one was born on her due date the other two were late. I remember the midwife telling me it didn't happen often. I didn't expect it I thought I'd get another week!

I have 3 - first a week early, second 9 days late and third on due date!

I worked with a lady who had 3 on their due date.

Of my DC, 50% were born on DD. But I only have 2 children.

The other 50% were born on their Grandmother's birthday.
