Does anyone else have kick paranoia?

Now 29 weeks. Last week, had a day when baby was mental and kicking a lot, a day when normal, and a day when he/she was super quiet.

I find he/she active from like 4am -7am, quiet during the day and picks back up in the evening around 8ish for a bit.

cannotmakemymindup · 28/05/2020 21:49

@JMill13 I am trying to make sure in addition to iron tablets plus multivitamins I have an iron rich diet. However the extra normal things you would take to help absorption is orange juice at the same time however that is counter indicative of my antihistamines that I take unfortunately and I can't stop those or risk my hives and swelling getting out of control.

It's also because I'm a Sickle Cell disease carrier, it's often a problem we get where we find it difficult to absorb iron naturally.

@MaisieMolly my midwife told me at my 28 week appointment which makes sense as I feel little feet in my bladder all the time and I see her head bulging at the top of my stomach!

@luna321 oh really! Do you have the video that'll be interesting to watch I'm trying everything as I want to keep as active as possible whilst I have the energy x

Luna321 · 28/05/2020 22:03

@Beau2020 It's this one. My last was breech but no one picked it up so never got the chance to try and turn him.

heroineinahalfshell · 28/05/2020 22:22

Mine is currently transverse, or at least she was last week at 28w appt! Plenty of time for her to change up though.

JMill13 · 28/05/2020 22:25

@cannotmakemymindup ah flip typical. Crazy how one little mineral can have such an impact. My sister tried to do that keto thing last year and actually ended up her iron levels where too high after a couple of months. Was crazy.

cannotmakemymindup · 28/05/2020 23:18

@JMill13 I literally cannot imagine ever having to high levels! I'm going to try to switch when I take my iron tablet to evenings and see if that makes a difference.

@luna321 brilliant thanks! I'm trying all of these ones now to add to my list lol!

2020Aug · 29/05/2020 07:09

I'm wondering if mine is transverse, they keep stretching out and I get limbs poking out both sides of my stomach at the same time. Or they're doing some crazy split moves in there 😂.

Beau2020 · 29/05/2020 07:56

@2020Aug I get that!! And sometimes the movements feel like jelly on a plate when she goes absolutely crazy and the movement feels so strange haha

cannotmakemymindup · 29/05/2020 09:13

Babies are crazy flexible! I agree sometimes I wonder if they're really an octopus as they seem to poke a whole bunch different directions at the same time. Grin

A quick question 😅.. we bought a bluebell baby monitor and when it arrived it was clear that it had been used or at the very least opened and taken out the box so I called up and asked for another one- they sent one with a courier the next day and the courier took the original one back. Yesterday they refunded us the £299 which I imagine is because they’ve received the one old back- but they haven’t charged us for the new one as it was a straight swap! 🙈 do I contact them and tell them?! I said yes but my partner is saying no it’s their fault 🤣 I guess this is a question of honesty haha

gemso2020 · 29/05/2020 13:03

Hi ladies!

Happy to join you here even though you are already on thread 2!

I'm due Aug 3rd and slowwwwly getting myself organised with everything, still feels like ages to go but also so little time!

I live abroad and we're basically completely out of lockdown now, which is a nice relief!

Has anyone heard of/tried Spinning Babies? A friend highly recommended it as kind of a daily stretching/workout to help get the baby in the best position for birth...

Beau2020 · 29/05/2020 17:32

@gemso2020 welcome! Yes my friend told me about spinning babies and I've been doing some of the exercises to help too as baby is sitting breech! How you getting on ?

Beau2020 · 29/05/2020 17:33

@squashie34 haha this has happened to me before, but the company was an absolutely nightmare and we spent so many trips trying to sort out the refund / exchange we decided to keep the money to reimburse our time and travel 😂

Camia · 29/05/2020 18:16

@gemso2020 Welcome! I feel you, I'm due the 6th so have about the same amount of time to get everything together and it seems like so much. And yet so long to wait still...

I have heard of Spinning Babies but haven't tried it. Baby was breech at our 20 week scan but I think he's flipped. Should find out in a couple weeks and if he's still breech I'll probably look into trying it.

Oldestchild90s · 29/05/2020 19:31

Hey ladies, and welcome to the newcomers 😀

My question for the day, have any of you experience period like pain this late on? I seem to have it all of a sudden and it's really quite uncomfortable. Is this maybe just stretching or something?

How is everyone today?

mable88 · 29/05/2020 20:28

@Oldestchild90s I have had a few period like pains the last couple of weeks, but they’ve not lasted all that long. I always just think it’s the same muscles getting stretched and squeezed so it makes sense that it feels similar to period pains?

I’m the latest on the reduced movements bandwagon... spent a jolly hour at the maternity assessment unit this afternoon as madam had barely moved after being super active for the last few days. Luckily all fine, like others have experienced she was moving away I just couldn’t feel her. They did all the other usual checks too as it’s been a few weeks since I last saw my midwife and also gave me the results of my GTT and my bloods - I was amazed as I only went in to have these done on Wednesday! All looking good fortunately. The midwife did say I had some glucose in my wee - any ideas what that’s about, given that my GTT was normal??

squashie34 · 29/05/2020 20:54

@Oldestchild90s yes I've had period style pains on and off for weeks- more so when I wake up in the morning!

@mable88 I'm glad everything is ok with little one! It's so reassuring and I'm glad they gave you all your test results too! Maybe you have a little bit of protein but your results aren't enough to have GD which is a good thing ☺️

Camia · 29/05/2020 21:03

@oldestchild90s I've had a little period-like pain but in short bursts. It seems to mainly be when baby moves into certain positions so I think it's just him stretching or wedging limbs into uncomfortable spots. Makes sense that it would feel similar as it's the same area.

@mable88 I had a reduced movement scare this morning too. Almost nothing all morning, and what little I did feel wasn't as strong as usual. Luckily I had a phone appointment with my OB today anyway and she said around 30 weeks it's common for babies to settle head-down and have less pronounced kicks and jabs so she suspects that. Baby's gotten a little more active now but definitely feels slightly different from usual. He was breech last they checked so I'm glad there's at least a fair chance he flipped over

mable88 · 29/05/2020 21:24

@squashie34 thank you Smile it was really reassuring and I just love hearing her heartbeat, definitely my new favourite sound!

@Camia that’s interesting, the midwife had a few and baby’s head was quite low down so that could explain it! She also said that if baby’s limbs are towards my back then it’s harder to feel movements, which makes sense and also I have an anterior placenta which doesn’t help! Baby ha been moving in her normal way this evening, so she must have just been having a lazy morning and afternoon! So glad I went to get checked though and the midwife who saw me was really lovely and didn’t make me feel like I was overreacting at all Smile

ml01omm · 29/05/2020 21:37

@squashie34@Oldestchild90s@Camia@mable88 - Yes to the period style pains! I thought I was the only one. Very mild, but still there.

This movement mularky is going to turn me grey by August!

cannotmakemymindup · 29/05/2020 21:50

I definitely sometimes get period like pains then they settle. For a second I always think oh my period is starting then remember nope, can't be!

This baby on the movements definitely keeps moving regularly for days then it calms down for a few days. So right now is a calm day. I hate the inconsistency of the movements. I just don't know what to think.

@cannotmakemymind up it’s a nightmare isn’t it, we’re told to go straight in with reduced movements and not to wait, but it’s soooo hard to tell what’s normal and what isn’t! I was really in two minds as to whether to go today but glad I did.
