@GYNisaliarWTF welcome! Awh I love Violet. Had an auntie and a great aunt called Violet and always loved it.

@oldestchild90s we were like that at the start, literally every name was like nope, no, definitely effing not 😂. Took us ages. We had originally wanted Riley for either boy/girl but OH remembered there is a porn star called Riley and he couldn't see past that 🙈. Boys names were the hardest because we both knew/know so many boys that were always dicks back in the day. The perfect name will come though, I know so many people that couldn't name their baby until it was born and a few days old.

@squashie34 thank you. I'm not a fan of William but OH's mum has insisted. I absolutely adore Luna Grace 😍

WorriedButterfly · 20/06/2020 23:03

You've all got such beautiful names 🥰 we are still struggling!! Boys are tough!

The leg cramps hit me this week, so painful! I remember Darcy Bussell saying you need to get oxygen to the muscle so breathe deeply - it does work (kind of).

Thank you for all the replies a couple of days ago, I am feeing slightly less overwhelmed - your post really helped and I had a good chat with my big sis!

I can't remember who it was looking for veggie inspo (was it you @JMill13) I love the Tom yum Soup recipe in the BOSH cookbook which is vegan but I add chicken! ☺️

JMill13 · 20/06/2020 23:26

@worriedbutterfly glad you're feeling a bit less overwhelmed. Was me! Thank you I shall have a look at that. Other half I'm sure will like it with added chicken.

Firstmummytobe · 20/06/2020 23:40

Archie-James Owen Rawcliffe for us, this got decided the night of my gender reveal when we scrolled through Instagram together for lists of baby boy names, and as soon as we saw Archie we looked at each other and knew and havent called him bump or baby since he’s officially Archie!
James is his daddies middle name and Owen is my brothers and Grandad’s name so a bit of a tradition, and seeing as we’re not married etc we’ve opted for daddies last name too 🥰

JMill13 · 20/06/2020 23:53

@firstmummytobe love that!

We went for Cameron for a boy as its my surname and hope to one day get married to the boyfriend 😂 so think it's a nice little nod to my family, William is OH's middle name and his dad's name so keeping it proper in the family with that one.

sel2223 · 21/06/2020 04:34

Ugh pregnancy insomnia!

Anyone got any tips?.....i thought (hoped) buying a pregnancy pillow would help but, nope, still waking up at 4am on the dot.

squashie34 · 21/06/2020 04:58

@sel2223 joining you with the 4am awake club! Just can't get comfortable and also wasn't feeling like little miss was her usual wriggly self last night. She was moving but it felt more sluggish and not as frequent if that makes sense (she's usually crazy in the evenings 🤣) so it's been playing on my mind all night and keep waking up thinking did I feel her move then or was I dreaming it? If I haven't felt much by the time OH wakes I might call triage.

Have you tried reading when you wake up? Something non baby related? I find sometimes within half an hour that sends me to sleep.

Firstmummytobe · 21/06/2020 05:15

I’m in the awake At 4:30 club too, had another shot of diamorphine at 1am as I woke up crying my eyes out in pain with a contraction, and it’s only been 4 hours and it should of put me well away and I shouldn’t really be feeling any pain but I’m in back labour atm. (If anybody has ever had back labour you will know what I’m talking about it is EXCRUCITATING pain) so taking this time so have a bounce on my ball and watch MasterChef until the Midwife comes To check on me.
I’m too scared to ring the buzzer as I have all it all night they must hate me 😂🙈 anybody else get that feeling like they are an utter nuisance when your in hospital?

Oldestchild90s · 21/06/2020 06:49

@Firstmummytobe When i went for a reduced movement scan a few weeks back i kept apologising as she just decided to kick loads so i did really feel like i was being a burden and wasting their time! If you need to ring that buzzer you do it!!! I feel so bad for you being in pain and being alone 😭 i really hope it all eases for you soon 🤞🏻

sel2223 · 21/06/2020 06:52

@squashie34 how is everything now? If you're still worried then definitely call triage. I'm sure all is fine but better to be safe than sorry.

@Firstmummytobe you poor thing. No one will think you're being a burden or an 'utter nuisance', don't sit there suffering bless you. Hope things are better for you today.

JMill13 · 21/06/2020 06:58

Morning! Anyone any good tips for horrendous headache? Woke up yesterday morning with it, tried to sleep it off, took paracetamol, it went away but came back last night, took more tablets, had dinner, went to bed. Woke at 3am took more tablets and now have got up at half 6 and I'm still dying. Actually think it's worse now as I feel sick too.

Oldestchild90s · 21/06/2020 07:30

@squashie34 Hope you have felt more movements!!! Or if not, please give them a call as it's better to be safe than sorry!

@JMill13 Sounds more like a migraine?! I really don't think you can do any more than you are already doing 😭 keep drinking lots, take Paracetamol and get more rest i reckon 😩

squashie34 · 21/06/2020 08:16

Managed to drop back off to sleep and woke up about 15 minutes ago. She still doesn't feel like she's in her usual pattern though so going to call in a minute. I just don't want them to think I'm overreacting because she is making some slight movements, just not the same as she usually does? X

GYNisaliarWTF · 21/06/2020 08:24

@squashie34 you know your baby best, give them a call; they’re quite used to worried mums I’m sure!
My MIL works in our local midwifery dept & shamed me for calling once; I explained to her that id rather be safe than sorry. I feel like anyone who shames women that works in that dept is probably in the wrong job....
I’m sure she’s okay but 100% you make that call & get your mind put at ease honey!!

@Oldestchild90s I love that your kitty is named Violet! It is one of those sweet names that works for lots of things 😂 I chose it after my Great Grandmother 😍

@JMill13
are there any fruity teas you could try? Failing that a dark room and limited access to screens I think 😭 hope you’re feeling better soon!! Flowers

Newmama29 · 21/06/2020 08:25

@Firstmummytobe I know how you feel about using the buzzer! I’m a nurse so I felt like I didn’t want to be a pain when I spent a night in hospital 🙈 but also because I’m a nurse, I’m telling you that if you need anything you ring that buzzer!! They are really understanding & you’re definitely not being a nuisance, they want you & baby to be safe

Superscientist · 21/06/2020 08:41

@squashie34 I have had the exact same night! She is usually really active just before I go to bed but she wasn't. I fell asleep but woke up at 3 thinking I haven't felt her. I had drink and something to eat, shes started moving a little but I'm not normally counting kicks at 3 am so don't know if was a quiet or active period! So stressful! She's been a lot more active in the last half hour a typical active time. It is so hard when it happens overnight, call in if you need. I was about 10 minutes away from waking my partner up at 3am and going in then when I started to get a few kicks.

With the nausea and headache it sounds like a migraine @JMill13 paracetamol and dark quiet room would be my first suggestions. It probably wouldn't hurt to call triage too just in case they want to check your blood pressure and to see if there is anything else you can take

Superscientist · 21/06/2020 08:50

We have had our two favoured first names picked for a while this week we (I) have decided on middle names. Oh claims to not care about a middle name but vetoed a lot of names for someone that didn't care! Haha! We will decide of which of the two names we favour when she arrives... Or more probably decide neither are suitable and have to start again.
We would have liked to name her after my partners gran (maternal) who passed away last year but that would give an inappropriate name so we decided against any family names to make it fair.

Firstmummytobe · 21/06/2020 09:21

@JMill13 morning!
I suffer badly with migraines so I was able to call my GP and was prescribed effervescent paracetamol (dissolve in water) and codeine in tablet forlorn 60mg and after 10 mins my migraines were gone after I sat in the dark aswell and hurt shut my eyes. Hope this helps but it can be hard to get codeine from your doctor unless your really telling them your suffering xxx

Firstmummytobe · 21/06/2020 09:21

heroineinahalfshell · 21/06/2020 10:10

Another non-sleeper here - my current pattern is - fall asleep around 1230/1am, wake at 430am & stay awake for 1 - 1.5 hours, wake again at 6:30am for another 30 mins - an hour, then my alarm goes off at 8am to get up for work. I am exhausted all the time!!

We chose our first name while drunk in a pub when we first decided to TTC, and we've settled on a middle name this weekend - we've chosen Caroline Estelle. Keeping it a secret until she arrives, which is driving my mum mad!

Bert2020 · 21/06/2020 10:14

Names are so difficult! We had a boys name last time but now won’t use it because of our daughters name. We are down to 3 but can’t decide, they are quite different to each other. The middle name is a family name of my husband so that part was easy Grin my mum is also frustrated not to know his name! She has guessed one of them but doesn’t know she has yet.

Bert2020 · 21/06/2020 10:15

Forgot to say I feel for you all suffering lack of sleep. I have insomnia periodically but at the moment doing quite well. If anyone tells you to wait until the baby arrives to know real tiredness, ignore them! I got much more sleep when my daughter arrived than when I was pregnant.

JMill13 · 21/06/2020 10:38

Thanks ladies. I moved to the sofa, took another paracetamol and eventually managed to sleep for a couple of hours heads still tender and a bit sore but hoping that's it clearing off now. Though feel bad 'cause that's a total of 7 paracetamol since yesterday, can't be great for baby can it.

I've been a migraine sufferer since I was about 15 so used to it but have only had maybe 3 since being pregnant (this being the 3rd) but paracetamol is so crap at helping anything.

@firstmummytobe ooh amazing, thank you. I will call GP tomorrow cause I can't keep doing this every few weeks it's brutal. Hope you're doing okay now too!

@squashie34 how you getting on now? Never worry about calling that's what they're there for.

squashie34 · 21/06/2020 11:16

Phoned the labour triage and they told me to go straight up and they popped my on the monitor. She wasn't moving but her heart rate was ok, but mine and my bp were high so they took a urine sample and it said I was quite badly dehydrated. Two glucose drinks later and she was practically kicking the monitors off 😅 could hear the noises all down the ward so back to her normal self! Haha

I'd totally never considered that now I have to pee every 5 minutes and with the humidity we should all be really upping how much water we drink! I think I don't drink as much because I think I'll need the loo in 2 minutes.

Thanks ladies for your help xx

Oldestchild90s · 21/06/2020 11:34

@squashie34 glad to hear everything is ok. It's difficult to drink lots when pregnant but well done for going and getting checked out 😀

@JMill13 Did you get tablets prescribed before your pregnancy? I have sumatriptan which works an absolute dream and luckily i haven't had a migraine since being pregnant apart from the other day i had my first one. Paracetamol doesn't touch it so i find we just have to get on with it.. only major downside to pregnancy is not being able to take any tablets when you need them.
