@Chez2306 hope all is OK. I had a nasty fall down the stairs around 16 weeks and spent about 8 weeks in agony with my coccyx, not ideal. Thinking of you.

sel2223 · 26/05/2020 16:15

Third trimester so far has hit me like a brick....awful heartburn (was just at night but last few days it's been near constant), permanently exhausted and the aches and pains of a 75 year old.
No idea how I'm gonna survive the next 10/11 weeks I'm actually feeling thankful to coronavirus that I'm not having to go into work everyday!

cannotmakemymindup · 26/05/2020 16:17

@Chez2306 really hope everything is okay for you as that sounds scary. At least you are the best place for you both currently.

@Feelthefear01 I am not sure if it is just the Covid-19 that is affecting services or just a general problem. It certainly isn't like my previous pregnancy 6 years ago which was a lot more consistent in care and absolutely fantastic midwife throughout. Who even rallied against a problematic consultant at the time who had treated a few women including myself very standoffish and dismissive. This time I know I am keeping track of my care just incase they don't. However like you said that is worrying as there will be some women not speaking up, things getting missed etc,. All we can do is educate each other as much as possible!

@Chez2306 hope everything is ok lovely, look after yourself
@Bert2020 that is my current plan! 😂

Those of you who have had a GTT - when did you get your results? I have a midwife appointment next week, will she discuss it with me then? Or do they call you sooner?

Superscientist · 26/05/2020 16:24

I hope all is OK @Chez2306

@sel2223 sorry things are tricky right now, speak to your gp/midwife about the heartburn. I was struggling with it and I got some omperazole prescribed and it has made a huge difference.

Bert2020 · 26/05/2020 16:43

@mable88 mine told me that I would receive a call the day afterwards if I had it, no news is good news. Went to the next appointment and right at the end she said I’ll check your blood results then went quiet and said I’m so sorry we are short staffed so then referred me to the diabetes team the next day. Ask them when you go to be sure.

Bert2020 · 26/05/2020 16:44

Posted too soon, agree with @Superscientist I am on omeprazole now and they are game changers @sel2223 I called my GP and they sent a prescription to the pharmacy so I didn’t have to go in.

Newmama29 · 26/05/2020 16:45

@mable88 do you know if you can take esomeprazole or any long acting stomach settlers? If you can you could just take that before bed & hopefully that would continue to work over night

mable88 · 26/05/2020 16:56

@Bert2020 thanks for that, I will check with them when I go tomorrow.

@Newmama29 I’m not sure, I think the letter just said no indigestion relief but I will check. I only have Gaviscon anyway so I think I’ll just have to be brave for one night!

ml01omm · 26/05/2020 17:57

@cannotmakemymindup @Superscientist @Camia Thank you for the reassurance. Worried I will end up with a 10 lber - neither me nor DH are particularly tall, so always assumed I would have a fairly small baby.

If it is diabetes, that spells the end of all the sugary crap I have been eating, so if nothing else it will force me to be better.

That said, I am all bump, (and double chin) haven't put weight on elsewhere

Oldestchild90s · 26/05/2020 18:29

Thanks for the add to the new thread 😀 hope you're all ok! @Chez2306 wishing you all the best!

Well i don't know about you ladies but today has been a struggle, decided to walk to work this morning (WHY!!??) waddling away at the speed of snail, my ankles and fingers are starting to swell too which is very uncomfortable 😭

I've heard good things about that spritz, might have to treat myself if you can call it that haha!

2020Aug · 26/05/2020 18:34

Oh no @Chez2306 hope everything is ok.

I've just had a call from the midwife following my 28 wk bloods to say I'm anaemic, really not looking forward to those side effects of the tablets!! I've been feeling a little tired but not crazy tired and I've actually felt much better and more energetic the last couple of weeks than I did when I was about 20 wks so was surprised!

New2this19 · 26/05/2020 19:40

Hi hope it's ok to join you all. Week 27 pregnant with my first after a miscarriage, time is going so slowly

JMill13 · 26/05/2020 20:28

@chez2306 oh man, hope everything is okay. Take care of yourself.

@superscientist just seen this about heartburn stuff. Def going to ring up and ask about it, as gaviscon barely even touches my heartburn and after a few thousand Rennie's my mouth tastes woeful. Just get it off the GP yeah?

Bubblesbebe · 26/05/2020 20:52

@new2this19 welcome! Same here, 27 weeks this thursday with my first after miscarriage.. I feel like I have been pregnant for a year now, but so excited to see that things are progressing this time.

Superscientist · 26/05/2020 20:55

@JMill13 my consultant asked my gp to prescribe it - I had a phone appointment scheduled with the consultant already so didn't see the need in making a separate gp appt. Definitely ring your gp to see if you can get it prescribed. I was munching on otc stuff and it did next to nothing. I was struggling to eat drink and sleep and it improved all of it (until pregnancy sickness returned!)

cannotmakemymindup · 26/05/2020 22:23

@ml01omm ah I'm not tall nor is my husband either but my daughter takes after tall side of the family - basically the rest of all my family (I have a 6' 7" cousin for instance). So she was 8Ilbs 7ozs at birth but just long not chubby so I imagine the same thing will happen again for me. It certainly feels like this baby is long with how far they reach when they're moving/wedged in.

@2020Aug for me the side effects of iron tablets aren't to horrific. I have been on it since 16 weeks and it's taken this long for me to get constipated and I have been on two tablets a day. Now down to just one a day on advice of midwife, to hopefully ease it up. Got to try and make sure plenty of fluids, whole grains and fruit.

@New2this19 you're definitely welcome!

JMill13 · 26/05/2020 22:29

@superscientist that's literally me. My OH bought me a 600ml bottle of Gaviscon on Thursday and it's nearly finished, along with a couple of strips of Rennie's so I definitely need something badly. I didn't get sickness really but the heartburn since day one has been awful and just seems to get worse. Read online to avoid certain foods like spice and did for a while but it did absolutely nothing.

KittyKat2020 · 26/05/2020 23:30

After reading about the heartburn I can really sympathise. I’ve tried rennies and now gaviscon and I’m barely getting any sleep it’s so bad, I’m due 19th August. I have a midwife appointment tomorrow so I’m going to mention omeprazole and see how I get on. Thanks guys

ml01omm · 27/05/2020 08:49

Attended first NCT course last night. I found it really interesting and informative from an in formation point of view - and our Teacher ( or whatever they call themselves) seems really nice and switched on, and was doing her absolute best to make it work via Zoom.

Only downside is, I am not sure how many friends this will generate ( our main purpose for signing up). I know from work that a lot of people act quite differently via video calls than they do when in face to face meetings, and this was no different. No subtle body language cues, or ability to just have a quick chat while on a break. Its very early days, obviously, but not sure how we will get the natural chat brewing as it was actually more of the men doing the chatting, the women seemed quite closed off. But we will see.

Rainbow714 · 27/05/2020 08:53

Hi all, please can i join? Im also due August. This is my 2nd DD can't wait for her arrival. Hope you are all well and enjoying pregnancy ❤

Beau2020 · 27/05/2020 08:56

@sel2223 that's good about the health visitor! I'm 30+2 and I've had nothing like this? I'm unsure about the process after birth, I though that the health visitor comes out to see you and check on baby, but I've not had anyone inform me about this process yet

Bert2020 · 27/05/2020 09:28

@Rainbow714 welcome.
@Beau2020 mine didn’t make contact until dd was here last time, things vary so much it’s confusing! Even in our borough, well to be fair across the road they have different practices. We have friends who don’t get called in for the checks but we do because of our postcode. We got our red book at discharge but others had them before birth and some when the hv came to visit. It is so confusing!

Beau2020 · 27/05/2020 09:32

@Bert2020 ahh that makes sense! I didn't even know about a red book haha I feel so clueless! Hopefully all will just become clear then depending on different practices. Sometimes I feel like I don't know the right questions to ask etc

Bert2020 · 27/05/2020 09:38

@Beau2020 honestly it’s such a learning curve and the professionals just throw things at you with no warning and seem to think you know what’s occurring. The red book is the bane of my life. Literally no one wants to see it until you don’t take it somewhere! Dd is nearly 4 and it’s only been touched by the initial hv that wrote so much incorrect information it’s got scrawls through it. The nurse when doing vaccinations uses it but that’s all.
