@heroineinahalfshell I wouldn't worry too much. I weigh less now then at the start of the pregnancy even though I'm 29 weeks. I've had hyporemisis all through with no appetite and have to force myself to eat. Baby has always measured fine though and MW is not concerned. Baby will take anything it needs from you.

heroineinahalfshell · 31/05/2020 22:07

@cannotmakemymindup yes, I was measured by the consultant at 27+3 and she's right on the 50th percentile, so it should be fine I just worry I'm doing something wrong!

Beau2020 · 31/05/2020 22:53

@luna321 no luck yet! I feel her move sideways but then she just goes back to breech again! So frustrating ☹️ I have a scan in a week or so, so I'm praying she will have turned by then so I can just start to relax

Beau2020 · 31/05/2020 22:55

@sel2223 can't believe that!! Hope you're doing ok sweet

Liverpool20 · 01/06/2020 08:16

Jumping in on the this thread very late 😅 I am due 20/08 with second IVF baba.

It’s been a strange pregnancy, I saw my midwife at 16 weeks and not seen her since due to lockdown. Missed 20 week scan and everything in-between. Haven’t even heard off them 🥴 feel completely abandoned but I guess thousands have gone it alone before me. Baby is helping me so much with movements and being at home constantly has allowed me to keep track on him. Just can’t help but feel like this pregnancy has been fast forward. Actually quite proud of myself for not losing my crap with the non existent antenatal care 😅

MaisieMolly · 01/06/2020 08:33

Hope all of you in hospital and your babies are doing well this morning xx

How’s everyone else feeling? Has anyone started their NCT yet? Mine starts today (virtually), I’m quite shy so worried that it’ll be more difficult to make friends than in real life.

cannotmakemymindup · 01/06/2020 08:41

@Liverpool20 welcome! A couple others have been in your position earlier in this thread/previous one and basically the encouragement is you're going to have to chase up with your midwife/midwife team to make sure you don't get missed for those appointments you should definitely be having.

RCOG guidelines does say if you appear to unfortunately have fallen through the cracks in regards to normal appointments chase it up. We still all need checks, scans etc,. And if anything has been shown over the weekend, it's definitely important as some on this thread are currently ill themselves and in hospital unfortunately.

I think everyone who had been missed from appointments is now back in the system and seeing a Midwife regularly again and having much better communication.

Morning guys!
Welcome @Liverpool20, I am due on the 21/08!

I have felt the same way about the antenatal care here, my 25 week appointment was changed to a phone appointment 2 hours before I went in and it felt like the midwife couldn’t get me off the phone quick enough! I hope things should start to run better now lockdown is being relaxed slowly but we will have to wait and see.

@MaisieMolly, I hope your NCT session goes well tonight. I start on Weds and I too am nervous because both me and my partner are quite shy too and I also hate Zoom because I feel so self conscious about the way I look on the screen! I’ve put weight on my face this pregnancy but I swear the camera adds on 10 pounds!!!

Feelthefear01 · 01/06/2020 09:04

Has anybody else got a breech that's causing pain and discomfort under the ribs??

Newmama29 · 01/06/2020 09:42

@Liverpool20 welcome! I’m concerned that you haven’t had your 20 week scan! This is a very important appointment as this is when they check baby for any anomaly’s or problems in development! I would really be checking up on that

sel2223 · 01/06/2020 10:41

Welcome @Liverpool20
I agree you need to chase this up, you definitely shouldn't have missed your 20 week scan!

sel2223 · 01/06/2020 10:43

I've had a scan this morning (not a baby one unfortunately) and still being pumped full of antibiotics and all seems good. Dr said if I continue to improve then I should be home tomorrow.

I have to say, unlike others' experiences, I really can't fault my care through this pregnancy in such strange times.

JMill13 · 01/06/2020 11:14

Welcome @liverpool20 I agree with the other ladies definitely chase up your appointments, especially the 20 week scan. That's crazy that you've been left.

@sel2223 glad to hear you might be getting out 🤞🤞

ml01omm · 01/06/2020 13:37

Can someone help clarify something about movements/kicks? As I can't decide if or when I need to worry.

I downloaded the NHS kick-count app and not sure how to use it.

For example, if the baby starts moving at 8am - is that classed as one period of movement regardless of how long it lasts or how much baby moves in that time? E.g whether he gives a few kicks for 5 minutes, or carries on shuffling away for 20 mins?

Or should I be counting the actual kicks within that time period - e.g 20 kicks at 8am, then 5 kicks at 11am?

Tying myself in knots with this.

heroineinahalfshell · 01/06/2020 13:41

Welcome to the thread @Liverpool20, agree with others that you really should chase up your mw! I've not missed any appts at all other than 25w being moved to a phone appt, I think it's shocking the different treatment in different areas of the country but the 20w scan really is vital.

Glad to hear you might be going home soon @sel2223

I've woken up today and it seems the baby has finally decided to move from her transverse position - my bump is now the same size on both sides (before one side bulged, which I assume was her head), I'm feeling more pressure on my bladder and I've even been feeling consistent movements all morning which is really unusual for her! So I'm relieved.

sel2223 · 01/06/2020 13:45

@ml01omm I think as long as you are consistent with how you record movements, that's what matters. It's for you to help monitor kicks and see any changes quicker so as long as you do the same everyday, you would notice if something was different.

@heroineinahalfshell pleased baby has moved although I sympathise with the pressure on your bladder. My little one has been using mine as a pillow for a few weeks now so I'm never off the toilet!

squashie34 · 01/06/2020 14:09

@ml01omm from how I understand it, you count how many movements in that time period.. for example if you have reduced movements they tell
You to sit for an hour and see if you get 10 clear movements within that hour that's ok. I don't count the kicks, i more just consider how active she is and when, so for example I know she has a wriggle between about 6-8am and then again about 5pm and then most of the evening after dinner she wriggles on and off. If I got to say 5pm and I hadn't felt a period of wriggles then I'd phone. But that's my way of doing it and don't know if that's right. I've also been in 3 tones for reduced movement.

I went on the ctg today as part of my weekly check and she had hiccups! Was the cutest thing ever hearing them 😍🤭

JMill13 · 01/06/2020 15:57

Hey ladies - sitting reading this Hypnobirthing book (er.. I mean working at my full time job, obviously, no slacking here, promise😇😂) and had a random thought so thought I'd ask... If yous could have absolutely any song or album playing while in labour to help distract you and keep you focused on your breathing and everything what would you choose?

JMill13 · 01/06/2020 15:58

@squashie34 omg love that you got to hear hiccups. How cute!

Newmama29 · 01/06/2020 16:16

@JMill13 I’m glad you asked this question! I’m planning on making a playlist but have no idea what to put on it yet! I need some ideas

JMill13 · 01/06/2020 16:28

@newmama29 ah glad I'm not the only one. I think I need music to be part of it to help. I hate that whole ocean breeze, waves and calming sounds crap that gets played for relaxation and couldn't think of anything worse than hearing it while giving birth and I feel like that's the kind of music that would play for Hypnobirthing.

Newmama29 · 01/06/2020 16:43

@JMill13 yeah I’m not into spa music or any of that kind of thing. I’m probably more inclined to have some chill, acoustic music but any ideas are welcome!

Superscientist · 01/06/2020 17:06

I'm planning two playlists because one with calming music and one with upbeat music. I find meditation type music makes me restless and agitated, sometimes calming/acoustic music is OK but other times I need upbeat music to chill out. I have two running playlists along the same lines so I'll be using them as starting points.

Bert2020 · 01/06/2020 17:36

This time I’m going for lady gaga, I was completely zoned out last time and couldn’t tell you I heard any of my playlist at all Grin
Had a growth scan today and baby is off the scale, slightly anxious as to what comes next. Have a midwife appointment next week so hopefully get some info then.
Hope all of our hospital dwellers are doing well?

squashie34 · 01/06/2020 18:28

I'm going for a Harry Potter audio book as my play List because I just love it and Stephen Fry is so calming ☺️ and then I did say to my partner that I wanted some Ibiza dance music for the pushing stage because it makes me energised and happy but he just looked at me like I had two heads 🤣🤣
