Any third babies on the way??

Hi Ladies,
Just wondering if there are any mums who are pregnant with their third child?

I’m 41 and have two other DCs (5 & 3). I am now 22 weeks with my third (& last) baby.

Any others out there? Want to share some concerns/worries and advice about juggling three cherubs?

I hope you’re all getting sleep too. I am definitely already experiencing a sleep deficit of sorts (pregnancy insomnia, child nightmares & 3 year old’s night terrors, etc). I’m slightly nervous about lacking sleep going into this with a third one, but maybe things will improve ??

Hello ladies, I am 34 expecting #3. I have 5.5 year old and a just turned 2 year old. I am 29 weeks.

My concerns are will I have enough time for older two when baby comes along. I would really like to keep them involved.

Luckily they are both good sleepers, so hoping it'll just be this new little one keeping me awake at nights.

I've chosen to FF, because previously my experience of BF has been 24/7 sitting there pretty much with baby on the boob which I can't do with 2. Is this perfectly reasonable? Or am I failing number 3 by not BF?

Hi @pollysproggle I got a hakkaa silicone pump which is just suction really. This can sometimes pull a bead of colostrum to the nipple for me then I quickly take the pump off and catch the bead in a tiny syringe. I've been doing hand expressing too trying to stimulate the breast tissue then squeezing sort of above the nipple as if the nipple was in the baby's mouth iyswim. Like I said it's slow and frustrating. I have tried doing it at different times of the day because usually there is nothing, the best time for me is after tea time. And I watch the YouTube videos at the same time because it kind of sets the mood lol.
I also have gestational diabetes.

blondie87 · 07/05/2020 09:42

I had my third two months ago and it’s been much easier than I thought it would be so I hope that is reassuring!!

@Maxwillpop it was my third boy too and I got a bit fed up with similar comments. I’m delighted with my lot, and would have been regardless of whether n3 was a boy or a girl. People can be rather insensitive!

pollysproggle · 07/05/2020 10:21

@blondie87 @maxwillpop

Oh the disappointment caused by having yet another boy! Isn't it ridiculous?

@Delbelleber
I'm going to give it a try, how many weeks are you?

@MrsAmelia
Thanks for starting this thread, there's always lots for first time mums. I'm south of the river- south Norwood area

Delbelleber · 07/05/2020 10:27

I'm 37+2, started harvesting at 36 and I have a section at 38+2!
Just been trying again there I got 1 and a half ml Smile hopefully will add to that after tea tonight.
How many weeks are you @pollysproggle

Rosebel · 07/05/2020 10:35

My husband can't work from home and only gets a week's paternity leave (well he gets 2 but second is unpaid). With my last two my mum came and stayed with us but she obviously won't be able to this time. Can see it being lonely and isolating in those first few weeks.
Feeling a bit sorry for myself, probably due to the lack of sleep.

pollysproggle · 07/05/2020 10:40

@Delbelleber
I'm almost 34 so maybe a bit early. I'm hoping for an induction around 38 weeks as I have a history of big babies. My last was over 12lbs and that was without GD so I'd like a slightly smaller baby this time :)
Final growth scan is on 18th then they'll decide on 19th, he's been off the scale at both 28 and 32 week scans so I think they'll agree to 38 week induction.
How has your GD been? I started metformin a week ago as diet alone wasn't working for me and now it's fine.
I was upset at the diagnosis at first but it's actually been a bit of a blessing and stopped me piling on the pounds in the last trimester, I've actually lots a couple of lbs in the last 3 weeks with all the healthy eating despite the bump getting larger!

Delbelleber · 07/05/2020 12:23

@pollysproggle I think you'll get an early induction with GD. I was booked for section at 39w but they brought it forward to 38+2. I've been on metformin 1 a day at tea time for about 3 weeks I think but they increased the dose yesterday to 2 at tea time because my fasting bloods tend to rise. At the beginning I was really good and changed to a healthier diet but I've been eating things I shouldn't recently. I think being on metformin I'm like oh well I can get away with it more. Am I bad Hmm
For the colostrum harvesting you can order 10ml syringes from amazon.

Lilice · 07/05/2020 14:06

@Rosebel i know what you mean. I felt very isolated the first time round and I also got pnd. The second time, I went straight on the meds as soon as I spotted the signs and I was grand. When are you due? Things might be different then and maybe your mom could come and stay again?
@MrsAmelia I spoke to my parents today and they said they want to come see me in july, from france! They have even checkeded the flights already. I'm not too sure this is safe, but surprised it is possible. I told them if they really want to come, why not come in September. But there are risks of a second wave in the autumn so maybe July is safer after all.

Confused
CanAnyMother · 07/05/2020 22:11

@blondie87 I am so glad to hear it has been easier than you expected!

I am in the opposite boat @pollysproggle @Maxwillpop - we just found out this is a girl (after two boys) and all I get is “you must be so relieved”, or “you must be so happy you are finally having a girl”. It makes me unbelievably angry - just so insulting to my sons!

MamaGothel · 08/05/2020 00:04

10 days until I have this baby and I'm starting to get really anxious about it. I feel more worried then when I was a first time mum because this time I actually know what's coming. I feel so excited for the lovely baby cuddles but then I think, what if he is like my last baby and doesn't sleep through the night for 18 months!? I know how much I will love him but I feel like I'm inviting a little stranger into my home.

Sorry, can't sleep and needed to get it off of my chest

Jj2431 · 08/05/2020 00:30

Me. I'm in my early thirties. Have a 10 and 6 year old already. Currently 24+4

CanAnyMother · 08/05/2020 17:51

@MamaGothel I totally understand where you are coming from; mine were both horrendous sleepers and I have only just recovered from the sleep deprivation of their first three years!

Everyone tells me that third babies are the easiest - I am clinging to that...

That would be nice @CanAnyMother!

MamaGothel · 08/05/2020 19:11

I really hope they are easiest! I have a few ideas of mistakes I don't want to repeat but I suppose we never know what will happen until the baby is here

Goldenmother · 08/05/2020 20:35

Me I'm 38 and this pregnancy was a complete surprise my children are 16 and 14 so it will be like starting all over again

EmmaA96 · 08/05/2020 20:43

Hi ladies, I have a 3 & 1 year old girls and I’m pregnant with baby number 3 and 4 😂🙈 15 weeks with our little twins, I am planning on breastfeeding this time, I didn’t try with either of my girls. So quite excited to try something new!

pollysproggle · 09/05/2020 09:12

@Delbellebee
Not at all bad! The metformin does make me eat more carbs than I was with just diet control.
I'm having a day off today anyway (with the help of metformin). It's my little boys birthday, the sun is out and there's so much nice food and cake planned I refuse to sit there eating my celery sticks and plain yoghurt. One day won't hurt 😁

blondie87 · 09/05/2020 09:52

All I can say is my babies have got progressively easier/more chilled. Don’t know if it’s because I’m a more confident, experienced parent or the fact that third babies have to be more adaptable or if it’s been pot luck and completely down to personality. N3 has been a doddle comparatively and he’s a great night time sleeper. Not so good at day naps as I don’t have time with older two to get into a proper routine.

Delbelleber · 09/05/2020 10:08

Hey @pollysproggle happy birthday to your little one.. I am totally craving birthday cake!! Enjoy your treat day Grin

@MamaGothel are you having a planned section? I am having my section on the 14th. Counting down the days now. I go for my pre op on Tuesday then I'm having a baby on Thursday!! Got some shopping and cleaning to keep me busy but that's about it. Just want to fast forward through to next week now.

Rosebel · 10/05/2020 03:17

Is anyone else struggling to sleep? So tired but only getting around 3 hours sleep (perhaps it's training for when the baby arrivez). I hope it gets, easier. Don't fancy another 7 weeks with barely any sleep.
Doesn't help that I'm too tired to do much in the day. With my last two I worked until 37 weeks but my company didn't want me to come in while pregnant. I think if I was working I'd sleep better.

LRHR · 10/05/2020 19:16

@Rosebel sorry to hear you aren't sleeping well.
I'm the total opposite but I'm only just going into my second trimester.
If I remember rightly with my first 2 I didn't sleep well towards the end and I did think it was a way of preparing for night feeds.
Hope you manage to get some rest before your lovely little one arrives xxx

PandMmum · 10/05/2020 21:19

I'm same with you, two boys and found out that this one is a girl. I understand the feeling,
At first, I was frustrated with people being so happy that I'm having a girl lol.

I don't think they mean to sound "mean or disrespectful" to :the boys, they are just happy or assumed that one would want a mix up, I suppose.
