Just that. Currently in hospital, after having sudden bleeding starting at about 10pm. 27 weeks pregnant, phoned the hospital midwife, who told me to call 999.

Ambulance turned up within 5 mins, put a cannula in and took me straight to the assessment center/labour ward.

Baby heartbeat is fine, but having tightenings, and a test for showing possible premature labour came back positive.

Been scanned, don't think the blood is from the placenta or cord, but it is quite watery. Going to be given antibiotics and steroid injection asap, then reassessed in the morning, including testing for amniotic fluid.

On my own, husband looking after our 3yo DD, and in any case, not allowed in with me anyway. Had 2 losses in the last year, and am so scared something will happen to this one too.

@Vebrithien I do hope so. Fingers crossed x

Vebrithien · 24/04/2020 11:28

Thank you.
I've had my moments where I've had a bit of a cry, but am very much a knowledge fiend. Got a background in biochemistry, although am science teacher now, so the more details I can get, and the more detail I understand the situation in, the calmer I feel.
Can't do anything at all to change things, but knowing what the chances and likelihoods of different outcomes are, allows me to play out all of the different scenarios in my head, and then trying to deal with what's happening feels easier, because I've already though through that particular pathway.
Had a lovely growth scan, which shows baby is happy, and plenty of fluid still around them.

Oh that's great about the fluid Flowers

TwistyHair · 24/04/2020 21:44

Sounds good. And at that gestation, every day you can keep the baby in for longer is great. So hopefully more days will pass and the situation will stay stable

My DD spent 5 weeks in the alternative-hoover NICU that you mention, after an unexpectedly traumatic birth; it’s not an exaggeration to say they saved her life. You’re in really good hands if you do end up there - the nurses and doctors are quite simply amazing. Sending you best wishes.

Grainedesesame · 25/04/2020 05:33

You are both going to be ok. Lots of love xx

Vebrithien · 25/04/2020 06:56

Thank you.
Things seem to be settling, so no fresh bleeding and baby still seems to be staying put!

eventhecathasapenis · 25/04/2020 07:25

That's fantastic news. Stay put baby! X

Istwowyes17262 · 25/04/2020 19:46

Had my heart in my throat reading through this thread. Glad you and baby are doing well OP. I am 27 weeks today so it really hit home.
Will be thinking of you and checking for updates x

Vebrithien · 26/04/2020 08:33

Morning!

Baby is still staying put, for now, although still 50:50 for going into spontaneous labour in the next week or so.

Got to see the doctor today, and then hopefully come up with the discharge plan, get antibiotics to bring home, and then get released! Twice weekly monitoring/bloods at the hospital, fortnightly growth scans.

So glad to hear that the baby is still inside and you might actually get to go HOME Smile. I'm sure you must be missing your daughter and husband like crazy. Fingers crossed the meeting with the doctor goes well. X

Great news OP, thinking of you

MrsRose2018 · 26/04/2020 10:46

OP that's exactly what happened to me after my waters went at 25 weeks - I'm now 28+1 🙌🙌

I was given erythromycin to take 4x a day every day for 8 days - I hope they don't upset your tummy as much as they did mine - and I'm in the hospital for CTG monitoring, bloods and obs 2 x a week every week until I deliver! You may even get your own CTG straps to bring each time! How exciting!!

Your white blood cell count may be high when you have you bloods but that's normal due to the steroids and I was told your body also "preparing itself" for any infection - as you're now one big ole infection risk!

I know this process must have been so scary for you and don't let the statistics of women who go into spontaneous labour after PROM scare you! I'm testament to that not being the case!

Glad things have worked out ok for you and it's actually really awesome to get to see your baby more frequently for growth scans and their little heartbeat on the monitor 2 x a week 💕 xx

Mombie2016 · 26/04/2020 10:53

Hi OP, similar happened to me at 26 weeks with DD1, I was in for around a week, discharged on full bed rest, ended up back in at 28 weeks as it started up again. I was then kept in for two weeks, and sent home on full bed rest and in twice a week for monitoring, ended up being induced at 35 weeks as fluid levels had dropped too low for their liking and the placenta was just a mess (it came out looking like a dried up sponge....)

The placenta that time around was just bloody useless, DD was born weighing 4lbs 10z, so small but no other issues and is now almost 12.

Vebrithien · 26/04/2020 22:23

Thank you for your well wishes, and stories.
I am home now, feeling really quite weird, and very bruised, but it was so wonderful to see DD and DH. DD wouldn't stop hugging me, and has been really careful with me.
Just got to keep on cooking baby!

KnobwithaK · 27/04/2020 07:34

Ah that's really good to hear. Smile Hopefully things go smoothly form now on and baby stays in as long as possible x

Vebrithien · 29/04/2020 13:13

Been for my first twice weekly monitoring, at the hospital. Baby seems perfectly happy, had bloods taken for infection checking.
Had a tiny bleed in the night, and having some tightenings, which the midwife could see on the CTG, but all I can do is keep an eye on them.
1 week ago this evening, it all started, tomorrow I'm 28 weeks, which is the next milestone.

OP posts:
KnobwithaK · 29/04/2020 13:32

Good to hear that OP Smile.

Vebrithien · 04/05/2020 17:31

Just a quick update, if anyone is interested.

Am now 28w 4d, Wednesday will be 2 weeks since this all started (75% of babies will have arrived by 2 weeks).

Feeling okay, off the antibiotics now and back to the hospital tomorrow for a growth/liquor scan and a consultation.

Baby is kicking well!
