Just that. Currently in hospital, after having sudden bleeding starting at about 10pm. 27 weeks pregnant, phoned the hospital midwife, who told me to call 999.

Ambulance turned up within 5 mins, put a cannula in and took me straight to the assessment center/labour ward.

Baby heartbeat is fine, but having tightenings, and a test for showing possible premature labour came back positive.

Been scanned, don't think the blood is from the placenta or cord, but it is quite watery. Going to be given antibiotics and steroid injection asap, then reassessed in the morning, including testing for amniotic fluid.

On my own, husband looking after our 3yo DD, and in any case, not allowed in with me anyway. Had 2 losses in the last year, and am so scared something will happen to this one too.

Please do keep us all updated if you can and know that whilst you might be in hospital physically on your own, you have all of us here for you digitally for hand holds and virtual hugs all day and night! 😊

Hi OP, hope you are okay. Just to say that if you are in the hospital i think you are, their NICU is AMAZING. I gave birth to my daughter there last year at 30 weeks and she had a 6 week stay on the unit. Incredible unit and absolutely lovely staff. Take care, I am thinking of you Thanks

Emily29 · 23/04/2020 09:29

Thinking of you, you can do this! You’re safe there and both of you will get very well looked after Flowers

hollyberry2 · 23/04/2020 09:31

Hi, I had my waters break at exactly the same time (26 + 6) and was blue lighted to hospital- they took me to one a bit further away which had a suitable NICU for that gestation so I'm sure you're in the right place. Like you say it was a time of horrendous worry- I didn't have Mumsnet at the time or I'd have been all over it! I do remember spending a lot of time googling as well- for statistics and similar stories as somehow all the knowledge made me feel more in control.
I was admitted to hospital and given all the steroids and so on. He didn't actually make an appearance for another 2 weeks. We spent many weeks in NICU/Special Care with him but he is 2 now and absolutely perfect.
All I could say is try and trust that you are in exactly the right place and they are doing all the right things Thanks

Test for amniotic fluid had come back positive, so some of my waters have gone. Going to monitor in the labour ward for a while longer, to see which was things start to go.

Everything crossed for you. Can you get someone to bring in a Kindle? Flowers xx

MrsRose2018 · 23/04/2020 11:18

Awh OP I'm sorry! I know that's not what you want to hear but just because your waters have gone doesn't mean it's baby time! I'm two weeks past mine going and he's still hanging in there!

With your steroids and (if you need it) magnesium sulphate things are still looking good for you!

The labour ward is a creepy place to be when you're trying to NOT be in labour! Are you allowed a gentle stroll as there should still be a little shop open in your hospital where you could get a book and some headphones etc?

x

Vebrithien · 23/04/2020 11:28

At the moment they just want me to stay put.
Have given DH a list of the basics I need (including the 3 K's!) and my best friend it going to hopefully drop it off for me later. We're just not sure where it will need to go, or if I stay on the labour ward or am moved up to the antenatal ward.
I also wondered about the hospital shop, and if it was still likely to be open?

Oh, I hope things go well for you. Mind yourself.

Hannah1990x · 23/04/2020 11:46

Thinking of you Thanks I'd have thought the shop would be open but have DH pack you plenty of essentials just in case, hoping they can keep baby in there a bit longer for you but if not you're in the best place and they will take good care of you both.

eventhecathasapenis · 23/04/2020 12:17

Hope it goes well - hang in there baby! With regards to the hospital shop, I was admitted to my local hospital in Manchester recently for HG and was told the shop was closed and canteen was only for staff (not like I was going to eat being in for HG anyway 😂 but they made a point of telling me) so get DH to pack loads of nice drinks and snacks too just in case. Hospital tap water is vile in our area so I recommend a nice bottle of cordial 👍

Vebrithien · 23/04/2020 12:19

I've just had a plate of cauliflower cheese and roast potatoes delivered to me Grin

It tastes amazing, and most importantly, I didn't have to cook it!

HuloBeraal · 23/04/2020 13:37

Every single day the baby stays in is a huge bonus, especially post steroids. I have a 26 weeker. He got his steroids. I had v similar to you. Constant low level bleeding and then my waters broke. Do you have a low lying placenta by any chance?
Anyway he’s 3.5, and no one will ever be able to tell what a start he had in life. He’s the same size as the average 3 year old, talks non stop, torments his big siblings and is pretty smart to boot too. Babies are amazing as are NICU nurses and doctors.

HuloBeraal · 23/04/2020 13:39

The one thing I did which you may or may not want to do is I looked at photos of 26 weekers at birth. It’s pretty traumatic but it meant I was prepared for what my baby would look like and also what he would look like in the NICU. It didn’t take the shock away completely and I still cried but i did feel a bit more prepared than I would have been.
