Getting pregnant after 35

For those who had their babies after 35 how long did it take?

Does fertility decrease dramatically after 35 or is the risk overblown and mostly media scaremongering?

We stopped using contraception expecting it to take months due to age but I conceived the second month of trying....a month before my 37th birthday.

I'm 36, came off pill after 20 years and fell pregnant 2 months later. Still reeling from shock.
