Anyone else craving wine?

I’m 29 weeks now and really can’t wait to have a glass of wine when this baby arrives! I’ve had all sorts of alcohol free drinks over the last 7 months and although they’ve sort of done the job, nothing compares to a lovely cold glass of Sauvignon blanc or a nice red (preferably with a rare steak!) that first glass is going to taste so good! 🥂🍷

That was my ONLY craving this pregnancy. Didnt have a drop except non-alcoholic one, and it will pass the moment the baby is out knowing life :)

Thekindyoufindinasecondhand · 04/04/2020 16:51

Oh god...I'm craving alcohol in general, just enough to take the edge off! I know if I open a bottle I won't stop so just having to have some vimto for now Hmm

ThinkPink71 · 04/04/2020 16:52

I cannot wait. Don't care if that makes me an awful person. My god I cannot wait for that first sip of Pinot Grigio!

mrs87 · 04/04/2020 17:02

Only 18 weeks and all I can think about is an ice cold glass of Pinot Grigio! Not had a drink since Christmas and I'm not even much of a drinker but there's nothing like that first sip... Practically salivating here!

Crackerscheesescabbyknees · 04/04/2020 17:02

I bought an alcohol free red. It was regrettable from the first sip.

I crave beer more than anything, but piston heads non alcoholic is an excellent fill-in for the real thing.

sel2223 · 04/04/2020 17:04

Me.

Although it's a blessing in disguise really as if probably turn into a right alcoholic otherwise with this self isolation 😋

Clemmie83 · 04/04/2020 17:12

I'm exactly the same! Desperate for a nice glass of wine or gin and tonic!! Has anyone found any good alternatives? All the ones I've tried have been awful!

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 04/04/2020 17:39

I could just kill for a glass of wine right now. With everything going off and the stress, a lovely juicy steak and glass of wine would really hit the spot 🤤

AnonyHB · 04/04/2020 18:17

Yeah think the isolation is making it worse as all my friends are doing is drinking through it so I’m bombarded with photos of wine all the time! But probably just as well I’m pregnant as my liver would be taking an absolute battering otherwise!

I’m usually a frequent but moderate drinker - wine a few nights a week at the weekend with dinner and then a film, and I’ve not gone off it at all while being pregnant. I’ve not drank any, other than the odd sip of my husbands wine, and can confirm I still love the taste 😩😩 I don’t care if it makes me a bad person either, the first thing I’m doing when I get time with his baby is having a lovely glass of wine 😍

@Clemmie83 - Tesco do a low alcohol (less than 0.1 unit so I think it’s class as alcohol free) g&t in tins. I’ve had these on and off throughout pregnancy and they’re the nicest I’ve found and closest to the real thing. Ice and a slice and you can almost convince yourself it’s the real thing!!

@AnonyHB Sounds good, will have to give them a try!

mouse1234567 · 04/04/2020 18:37

Ha yes especially when the sun comes out! Wine! I have been lucky not to suffer from nausea -but I think that’s why The thought of alcohol is still nice to me!

UnrulySalvia · 04/04/2020 18:39

Me! In a way I'm glad I can't have any as I'm sure isolation would be driving me to drink from about 4pm.. still gagging for some though. Gah!

BabyB19 · 04/04/2020 18:50

Me! And after very much deliberation and weeks and weeks of research, (i am now 20 weeks) I treated myself to a small glass of red, less than half a normal glass (I know shoot me I'm a terrible mother already) and believe me ladies I won't be having another one, it was like drinking fire the heartburn was horrific, and I woke up with a wine over the next day, I couldn't believe it!
So take it from me it is absolutely not worth it, hang in there 😭

Bezalelle · 04/04/2020 19:09

I am craving a lovely creamy pint of Guinness.

BabyB19 · 04/04/2020 19:34

@Bezalelle 🤤

schafernaker · 04/04/2020 19:45

Me! So much! I compromised and made chicken in white wine sauce for dinner 😂

MrsERWor · 04/04/2020 20:46

Omg me!! I love my wine. My pregnancy took me by surprise. I of course stopped drinking any alcohol the moment I found out...by Christ it felt abrupt to quit cold turkey.

I've been gagging for a glass for weeks! :(

You're not alone and it's nice to know nor am I!

LatteLover12 · 04/04/2020 20:55

Oh thank God, I thought it was just me!

I do really miss a glass of wine. I've tried a few of the 0 alcohol ones but it's not the same.

Ah well...only another 5 months to go! 😂😩

PS) I totally agree that this lockdown situation has made it worse.

jdy123 · 04/04/2020 21:32

I was expecting to go off alcohol when I found out I was pregnant but it's no different! The things I'd do for a nice glass of white haha.
And being at home all the time deffo seems to make it worse ha.

17 weeks to go 😂

AnonyHB · 05/04/2020 08:04

Just think how amazing that first glass will taste ladies! I’m never voluntarily giving it up again. Dry January is an activity I will never again acknowledge 😂

Yes, being stuck inside and the nice weather, I would love to be able to sit in the garden with a glass of wine!

DJBebe · 05/04/2020 08:58

I've been craving beer, pretty much the only thing I've craved. I've never been a big drinker and this scares me a bit, i know it is mad but i am thinking what about the baby will turn up an alcoholic when he/she grows up. 🙈🙉 I've found Heineken 0% alcohol to be quite good.

Whiffle77 · 05/04/2020 09:00

I'm really craving wine badly, and am only 5 weeks! I wouldnt be so bad if it was for the lockdown I dont think as I was desperate to be pregnant again.
Probably for the best though, I would be drinking loooaaadddss in this situation otherwise!

lightningmcqueen20 · 05/04/2020 09:02

frizzante alcohol free prosecco is really good, it actually tastes pretty close to the real thing.
