Bored at home and feeling a bit lonely so thought I'd say 'hi' to all the other ladies around the same stage of pregnancy as me 👋

We're halfway there! 😊
How is everyone feeling?

Have you had your 20 week anomaly scan yet? Have you started buying things for the baby? Have you booked ante natal classes?

Hello Smile

I’m 19 weeks 2 days and it’s going over sooo quickly I can’t believe it! It feels like a minute ago I was desperate for my first booking appointment to make it feel real 😂

I can’t lie with all the going’s on in the world at the moment I’m a ball of anxiety, but I’ve got my scan next week and I’m hoping to see my little baba fit and healthy which will be a great comfort right now!

How far are you? Have you had your scan yet? Flowers

UnrulySalvia · 20/03/2020 11:30

Only half way!

To be fair it's not been too bad since 20 weeks but still..

Just bought or first item - a buggy (second hand) and a new bassinet to go with it - hope we made the right choice!

2020Aug · 20/03/2020 11:44

Hey, I'm 19+2. It feels like it has gone very slowly so far.
I have my 20 week scan next Wed, very anxious for it.

How are you all feeling?

Nfblues · 20/03/2020 11:44

Hiya! I’m 19+1 and feeling quite good. My 20 week scan is next Thursday which seems so close. The first 6 weeks felt like 6 years and now it seems like it’s going quite quickly!

We were going to book NCT after payday but now that they’re virtual we won’t bother. We got the positive birth company pack and will do that plus some reading. We also ordered our travel system last week (wanted to wait until after 20week scan but it was a bargain that we couldn’t miss up) but haven’t got too much else other than a couple of cute first outfits. Will slowly start buying bits after the scan to spread the cost out though as we’ll be a bit tight financially. My current contract at work ends in a few days and I was planning on doing some bank shifts in my local hospital to make up for the lack of pay until baby, but there’s no way I’m doing that in the current situation and putting me/baby at risk! We will just have to survive of DHs salary alone for a few months which is doable but tight. Hope everyone else is doing well X

sel2223 · 20/03/2020 12:20

Great to hear everyone is doing well despite the current challenges we are facing.....it'll certainly be a story to tell our little ones when they're older!

I've got my scan next Thursday so looking forward to seeing our bubba then (just praying everything will be ok at the scan) - I always get so anxious in the days leading up to the scan - and I've just bought my first purchase, a travel system! Wanted to wait till after scan but then panicked that we might end up on lockdown so saw a deal in a local shop and went for it.

I'm working from home until further notice so just trying to take it easy and only go out when absolutely necessary.....and i'm currently just sat browsing the next sale online!

I'm working at home too, I am feeling grateful that I'm in a position to do so, but am wondering how I will cope for the next 12 weeks! Reminding myself it will all be worth it.

Ah I was planning to wait for the travel system but we went to a baby show a few weeks ago and ordered one, very glad we did now with what is going on! It still isn't expected to deliver for another 6 weeks so least I've got loads of time if it is delayed.

Nails1x1x · 20/03/2020 15:05

Hey ladies, I’m 20 weeks + 5 - had my scan a few days ago! Everything was all good, baby is starting to get big now!
Was definitely reassuring to see baby was healthy after all that is going on at the moment.
Hope all of your next scans go well 🤞

Babyshine2020 · 20/03/2020 15:44

I'm also 20 weeks (tomorrow) and cant believe we're half way there, it feels a lot further. We have baby's nursery ready and have our travel system, we made the most of mothercare closing down and got plenty of bargains (I know it's early, but when we've seen deals we've got them!).

Had the anomaly scan yesterday and everything is ok with baby - he's just looking a bit chunky. The tech didn't say anything but reading my paperwork afterwards at 19+5 he's already 13 ounces Blush

Charchar19 · 20/03/2020 15:59

I'm 19 weeks today and have my scan next friday so will be half way exactly!

Also working from home which is nice but also a bit lonely! Wondering what will happen over the next few weeks in this strange strange time.

Haven't booked any ante natal classes originally was going to book around now, but now a bit cautious as they may be cancelled? Has anyone else booked any?

AliasGrape · 20/03/2020 16:08

I’m 21 weeks, had my scan last week and all was well although the baby was refusing to move so I was put in all kinds of positions and eventually hanging backwards on the reclining bed so they could get the last measurements.

We’ve not bought a thing, I’ve been far too anxious and scared of jumping the gun. And then we started doing loads of work downstairs in our house thinking we’d sort that then move to the baby’s room but that’s all on hold with everything going on and the whole house is in chaos.

I went to book nct classes weeks and weeks ago thinking I was being very premature and they were already full for our due date. And now we can’t afford the £250 they cost as I’ve totally lost my income (supply teacher).

Trying to stay positive with everything going on but it’s very a bit shit! Least little one is healthy and in the best place for now, holding onto that!

How much movement is everyone feeling? I’m still not getting much but at least a few flutters every day which is lovely. I worry it should be more though.

sel2223 · 20/03/2020 17:19

Hi everyone, glad you're all ok. As some of you have said, I feel like the first trimester went on forever but time is definitely speeding up now....although I do feel like I've been pregnant for a very long time!

I'm 19+2 but haven't felt any movement yet. I'm dying to feel something!!!

I booked my antenatal classes a couple of weeks ago right before all of this kicked of, really could have done without spending that £200 to be honest.

I'm 19 weeks tomorrow! 20w scan is a week on Monday.

We haven't bought anything for the baby yet but we did go into the shops a couple of weeks ago and "test drove" some prams, so we know which one we want to order/scout out on eBay.

I've got a proper bump now, but still haven't felt any movements. Really looking forward to the scan to see the baby again. Also feeling thankful that my DH can still come with me, I was worried he'd be barred.

It all feels very odd as we're both now wfh and can't see either of our parents, as they've got underlying health conditions. But glad we've got the bump to focus on!

jdy123 · 20/03/2020 20:25

Heyyy! I'm 21 weeks tomorrow and just booked my free antenatal classes and breastfeeding class yesterday for june and July. She said they might not go ahead and might be online so I'll have to wait and See!

Now I'm worrying i should be buying stuff now incase stuff can't be found nearer to the time, do you think we need to? Ive got my travel system ordered and next2me crib but need loads of stuff still!
Was gonna wait a few weeks before ordering anything else!

squashie34 · 21/03/2020 07:43

Hey ladies!

Congrats to everyone on making it half way! ❤️ hope everyone's 20 week scans are gojng well.. we had ours on Wednesday and she was wriggling and jumping all over the place, which is so weird seeing as I haven't felt any kicks yet at all.. maybe some fluttering but I never know if that's just gas as I am gassy at the moment (the most attractive of pregnancy symptoms right 😂) has anyone else not yet felt much movement?

I was thinking the same about buying things now before lockdown fully begins. I panicked that if this is on for 4 months or so I'd have no supplies for a hospital bag such as nappies so my mum bought two packs of those when she did the shopping for us. We haven't bought anything else though, no big ticket items like travel system or cot etc.. what are everyone's thoughts? We also then thought that maybe having some days to decorate the nursery whilst in self-isolation night put a nice spin on it!

Mammyofasuperbaby · 21/03/2020 07:56

Hi, I'm 19 weeks today and have my anomaly scan on Wednesday bit I'll be going alone as we have a high risk child and no childcare Sad.
I've been feeling movement since 17+5 and this one loves to move about, it even pushes against its dads hand (he can't feel it yet).

jdy123 · 21/03/2020 08:00

@squashie34 I was actually considering doing the same with nappies and things.
It's annoying cause we literally don't know what it's going to be like in a few months time!
Good thing is I guess we can order things online...

MaisieMolly · 21/03/2020 09:03

Morning everyone! I’m 20 weeks, haven’t had my scan yet though it’s next week. I hope it goes ahead and isn’t cancelled?! That is worrying me a lot.
I can’t believe we’re half way through. I’m getting anxious about the current situation and how it will affect things. We have been really superstitious so haven’t bought a thing, now worried if we’re even going to be able to!! We were going to have hand me downs from family around the country but not sure we’ll be able to see them in time now. It’s such a worry!
For now I’m trying to enjoy working at home, keep fit in the garden and eat healthily.

2020Aug · 21/03/2020 10:33

It's nice to speak to people in a similar position!

Been feeling movement for a couple of weeks, was surprised at first as it was just before 17 weeks and was convinced I was imagining it. Kicks are getting stronger though now, my husband is yet to feel it though.

I've been thinking of getting a couple of bits, I've heard from friends they cannot get hold of nappies or wipes! If all goes well on Wednesday at my scan I might start looking at things for the nursery.

Nfblues · 21/03/2020 10:44

@squashie34 I’m in the same boat as you with the movements, occasionally get a little twinge but sometimes it’s just a fart Blush DH is being polite though and hasn’t said a word even though I’m ridiculously gassy currently. Not the best pregnancy symptom but I’ll take it over nausea any day!

For those worried about the scans being cancelled, if you are not showing any symptoms then the 20 week scan will not be cancelled or delayed as it’s essential antenatal care. I found this Instagram compilation really helpful for the info released by RCM and RCOG:

squashie34 · 21/03/2020 15:24

@2020Aug we went to mamas and papas today for our last outing before we self isolate until we are told otherwise, as if called ahead and they said they were operating a strict 2m distance policy at all time's. We ended up buying the travel system and nursery furniture which is going to be delivered to in-laws so we don't see it until we need to. I feel better now I know it's there if we need it. Fingers crossed for your scan on Wednesday, let us all know how you get on!

@Nfblues amen with the gas! 😂 pregnancy women are so attractive right! Your other half sounds amazing though haha

essexanon · 21/03/2020 19:44

Hey all.

I’m 20+5. Had my 20 week scan last week but have to go back as they couldn’t get all measurements after trying for an hour. Baby boy loves to move around constantly but in the wrong position. But the measurements they did get all look good.
No kicking movements yet as I have an anterior placenta but I do feel muscle spasm type movements in my belly, I’m not sure if that’s him or just something else.
I’ve put a deposit on my travel system (Egg buggy and carrycot with cybex cloud z car seat) as I got a really good deal. The shop will store it until I’m ready for it too.
Bought a couple baby clothes and mum got the next to me cot.
It all costs so much so we started early. I know it’s against the superstition but it worked for us.
I’m finding my body just aches at the moment, I feel 80!

And with all the madness in the world right now, I’d LOVE a glass (more like bottle) of wine.

Hope everyone is keeping safe xx

2020Aug · 21/03/2020 20:02

@essexanon oh wow, hope your baby is in the right position next time. I'm finding I ache too, I'm usually so active but I'm noticing even bending down is getting more difficult!

I'm finding it all quite stressful with everything going on and it does worry me what it is going to be like in a few weeks, but I'm trying to stay calm.

essexanon · 21/03/2020 21:37

@2020Aug I totally agree, my hours were also cut at work due to the virus and redundancy was a possibility, it’s so hard to remain positive when all this is going on.
I’m also a little worried as more than ever now I need the Nhs and more than ever, they are under pressure.

At least we will never forget the year our babies were born! Lol xx

Nellie3 · 23/03/2020 08:14

Hi everyone,

Nice to hear from people in the same boat. I'm now 20 weeks, scan and whooping cough vaccine are on Wednesday.

What's everyone thinking about buying baby bits? I was so excited to go out baby shopping in the next few weeks but looks like that's not going to happen. I know we're all only half way but I've been having dreams about bringing the baby home and having nothing ready for it so I think I will feel better when I have got some things, just not sure where to get them from now! Xx

Nfblues · 23/03/2020 18:52

@Nellie3 I’m getting the basics online and then will wait and see when baby gets here if there’s any extra bits I need. We have already ordered our travel system online and will be buying everything else online. I got an email today from mamas and papas stating they were closing stores but doing free delivery online. They are also doing returns for 30 days after stores open again, no matter when that is - might be helpful for you!
