@Rhcat1 @ELW85
Well before this I had strict rules in place regarding visitors anyway and what they must do.
& to be clear I mean at home not the hospital as they have banned visitors.
Now I'm feeling a bit disappointed that we will have to limit visitation. Or really sure how to go about it, especially in terms of family members!
Our hospital here is limiting to 2 birth partners and no visitors in the hospital FOR NOW. I am anxious to have baby before they change this to just 1 birth partner as I NEED my MIL to be there!

ShirleyPhallus · 19/03/2020 06:04

@abbs1 what a change up! Huge amounts of luck, hope it all goes well!!

@sjmco amazing news, congratulations!! How are you feeling?

I had a midwife appt last night and thought my waters had been leaking but they confirmed not. I declined a sweep so will just let nature take its course then go back next week.

One thing that was good was how quiet the hospital was. The midwife said they’re doing phone appts where possible and cancelling non essential stuff. Also forcible hand washing before entering all the wards.

Hiya, can I join in please? I'm 38+5, have midwife today so hoping will get some clarity on the giving birth situation. The Essex hospital I am due to give birth at is currently saying 2 birth partners who cant be changes and one visitor between 6&7PM. So long as DH is there for the birth and a bit afterwards I don't mind. Just want little lady to make her appearance now before this gets even crazier!!

Rhcat1 · 19/03/2020 07:04

@sjmco huge congratulations!!! 😁😁

singme · 19/03/2020 09:24

@sjmco congratulations!

@abbs1 your little one will be here soon too!

@ShirleyPhallus hope you don’t mind me asking what you felt when you thought waters leaking? TMI but I’ve noticed an increase in discharge today but it just seems like my normal but more. Unless it’s waters?!

abbs1 · 19/03/2020 12:11

Thank you all for your kind messages. My little boy arrived at 4:47am weighing 5lbs 12oz. Absolutely perfect! An intense labour but safely here and I'm doing well.

Ithoughtyouwere · 19/03/2020 12:25

Hi all, can I join? 39+1 today, had some contractions for a bit last night but fell back asleep and they disappeared. DD came at 37 weeks so cant believe this baby is still isn’t here!

Really struggling now with pelvic pain, sciatica and general isolation from being stuck at home (not that it will change much once the baby’s here, but at least I might be able to go for a walk!).

Rhcat1 · 19/03/2020 12:51

@abbs1 congratulations!! Brilliant news! Enjoy every second of him.

@Ithoughtyouwere same. I've been on maternity since Feb and already feel like the walls are closing in on me. It can get very isolating being stuck inside. I can't wait to get out with the pram and walk around the park again with the baby.

On another note, I couldn't sleep at all last night. Ended up tossing and turning in bed whilst my boyfriend slept blissfully asleep next to me. I can't stop reading up on this bloody coronavirus or switch my mind off and I ended up getting so overwhelmed I burst into tears and had to go try sleep on the sofa. Was up til 2.30 this morning so stressed over it all thinking we're about to go into lockdown at any moment and then sitting thinking how crap my boyfriend is in a pandemic.
Out cupboards are bare because he's working non stop long hours and I can't get out for a shop as I don't drive, and i just keep thinking with all these arshole bulk/panic buyers there's gunna be absolutely nothing left. I've got everything I need for the baby, but I just need something to actually eat for myself.
He's so blasé about it all, like oh don't worry ill go on Friday morning when I'm off...like he can just do a casual breezy food shop whilst there's people out there acting like wild animals attacking each other in the ailes over bloody bog roll.
I dunno if its just my hormones or the uncertainty of everything but I'm just so anxious at the minute and being alone all day all I can do is overthink. Anyone else like this? Or am I just being a pathetic mess of a human?

Rojelio · 19/03/2020 13:25

@Rhcat1 I was similar last night when I did nod off I ended up just dreaming about it all and then waking again, I've tried to avoid Coronavirus talk today and I'm hoping I can relax a bit more tonight, hope you can also ...Thanks

ShirleyPhallus · 19/03/2020 13:27

@abbs1 wow congratulations!!! You must be absolutely delighted, how are you feeling? How was the induction?

@singme it basically felt like a lot of wetness in my knickers, despite wearing clean pants so not urine and didn’t feel like sweat. I had it tested though and the midwife said it’s really common at this stage to get lots of watery discharge (nice). Worth checking out if you’re worried though.

@rhcat1 I know exactly what you mean; it’s such a worrying time. I’ve ended up hiding all the CV boards and lots of posts on here. One thing that has really helped in relaxation is listening to podcasts and doing hypnobirthing, have you tried it at all? Really helps me with not being too wound up about it all.

singme · 19/03/2020 14:30

Thanks @ShirleyPhallus. It has completely settled down now so going to keep an eye on it. Just seemed normal but a bit more of it!

Everyone who is anxious- me too! After months of being quite chilled I have now got upset twice today. Trying to keep busy, will do some relaxation tapes and have virtual yoga tonight thank goodness!

Carlywalford94 · 19/03/2020 14:59

Had a sweep yesterday and no show of anything being induced tomorrow morning good luck to everyone!!!

MockingJay27 · 19/03/2020 15:19

I've had a sweep this morning on my due date. Midwife said I'm 2-3cm dilated so hopefully things will get moving over the weekend. I'm booked in to be induced Monday if not. Xx

Sunshinedayze · 19/03/2020 15:26

not on maternity leave as working up until week before my c section, but 2 weeks 5 days to go! Quite glad now i decided to work as long as i could as lucky enough to work for an organisation that has moved to everyone working at home, so best of both worlds!

ELW85 · 19/03/2020 16:00

How was the sweep @MockingJay27? I’ve got mine tomorrow, the day before my due date!

MockingJay27 · 19/03/2020 16:09

@ELW85 it was fine no more uncomfortable than a smear in my opinion. Just try to stay relaxed. She did say it's only effective if you are already starting to dilate x

ELW85 · 19/03/2020 16:47

@MockingJay27 - ah thanks for the info and good luck!! X

abbs1 · 19/03/2020 16:51

@Shirleyphallus thank you so much. Induction was very intense went from 2-9cm in 2 hours and then the epidural didn't work and no break contractions that they tried to slow down that didn't work and but hes here safe and sound and I'm so happy!

ELW85 · 20/03/2020 08:38

Morning all!

Any developments? My midwife just called to tell me they don’t want people going to hospital so they’ve brought my sweep forward to 10am today at a GP surgery that’s been closed to the public. So nervous now!

@abbs1 - congratulations again, that does sound intense, but pleased you’re all well!

ShirleyPhallus · 20/03/2020 10:54

Morning all, how is everyone feeling today?

@abbs1 wow that does sound intense, but glad he is here safe and sound! Hopefully you’re enjoying some lovely newborn cuddles about now!

@ELW85 good luck for this morning, let us know how it goes

OP posts:
ELW85 · 20/03/2020 11:59

@ShirleyPhallus - morning! It went fine and turns out I was already slightly dilated, so fingers crossed it works! If not, booked in for an induction next Saturday; I just hope it doesn’t come to that!

How are you doing?

sprite25 · 20/03/2020 13:18

So jealous of everyone having their babies, 40 weeks tomorrow and baby showing no signs of vacating any time soon

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 20/03/2020 13:25

Due date today and.......nothing

Sweep booked tomorrow!

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 20/03/2020 13:27

@ELW85 im in the same situation. Booked for a second swep tomorrow, but also booked for an induction on tuesday. I really hope the sweep brings on labour! Good luck with yours!

ShirleyPhallus · 20/03/2020 13:34

I’m also beyond 40 weeks now but declined the sweep, I’m just keeping with the mantra “my baby will come when my baby is ready” but it’s really hard to try and stay relaxed with everything going on! Another one jealous of all those with their babies!
