I’ve batch cooked, nursery is sorted, I feel fairly relaxed. Just waiting for this little one to make an appearance

Anyone else waiting now?

Thought I'd join in 🙋🏼‍♀️ I'm 38 weeks 2morrow and now starting to feel very uncomfortable at night 😩 I wake up with a dead hip throughout the night! Good luck ladies x

sjmco · 18/03/2020 09:39

@Rhcat1 my cousin who is due any min is not allowed anyone not even her partner... but she is located in Spain! Hopefully UK will be ok.

Thanks everyone... waiting calmly for my section! Hopefully in the next hour or two!!! 😬

Rhcat1 · 18/03/2020 10:13

@sjmco eeeh I'm excited for you. Good luck with everything! Yeah I understand the extra precautions..spains in lock down anyway. If it comes to it that they do the same in the UK then I can't do anything about it. As long as baby comes out healthy and happy that's all I care about... Although I will be secretly gutted.
My friend had a c-section and she said it was a totally calm experience, they just asked her to get the little outfit ready and then she said when they gave her the injection she felt incredible. So I wish you all the well and hopefully not long till you have your little babba in your arms x

Leag1 · 18/03/2020 11:35

I'm joining 38weeks and bored at home. Panicking as I've only got 46 nappies and they are all out of stock everywhere. Have period like cramps on and off sometimes but nothing more. And I can't even sit on the sofa as I get pins and needles between bump and booba.

lonelyonee · 18/03/2020 12:39

@ELW85 yeah most of them are, so I'm hoping mine is too.
I have text my midwife but no response as of yet. It's completely bonkers. I'm just hoping he comes sooner rather than later because I'm concerned regarding lockdown happening now more measures are being brought in.
Also concerned about allowing visitors after he's born. Hospital aren't allowing any at all but what should we do when we're home? 😩

Rhcat1 · 18/03/2020 13:43

@lonelyonee I'd refrain from having visitors. Before all this kicked off my sister and close friends who've had babies were telling me to avoid visitors anyway in the first few days so I could bond with the baby... But now this virus has came and I think it's the perfect excuse really. There's not much info on babies contracting it or how it's effecting them but I know I'm gunna be wrapping mine up (metaphorically) in bubble wrap.

Minesril · 18/03/2020 13:55

I'm having my section next week. Am getting a bit upset that under-10s won't be allowed on the ward except 'at the discretion of the midwife' - i completely understand but I had an image of my five year old meeting his little brother on the ward! If he's not allowed he won't meet him until I'm discharged- not sure how long that could be with a csec.

ELW85 · 18/03/2020 14:17

@lonelyonee - hopefully she gets back to you soon.
I really want him to come sooner rather than later too.
We’ve decided to not have visitors for 2 weeks and have heard that there are some hospitals in Essex who aren’t allowing partners/husbands to stay.
We’re in Newcastle, but it’s only a matter of time before they share that guidance and I don’t want to be alone in hospital!

Rhcat1 · 18/03/2020 14:29

@ELW85 I'm in Newcastle too. Having mine at Cramlington hosp. My partners got chrones disease so if it is up to the discretion of the midwife I'm fearing it's highly doubtful they'd let him stay. I'm due 2nd of April... It could either escalate within that time period and get worse, or it could calm down. Feel like everyone's on tender hooks at the minute not knowing what to do for the best. Unnerving times at the minute.

sprite25 · 18/03/2020 15:09

Hi all can I please join in? 39+4 here and I just know I'm going to be pregnant forever! It really is like time has come to a standstill. I keep hoping every twinge/cramp/tightening is the start of something but as both my other two DCs were nearly two weeks late I'm not holding out much hope, honestly don't know how I'm going to do another few weeks of this if this baby follows suit 😭

abbs1 · 18/03/2020 15:19

@ELW85 the essex hospital I'm at has said only 1 birthing partner must be the same for whole stay and no visitors at all.

ShirleyPhallus · 18/03/2020 16:02

Our hospital gives the birthing partner a wristband that can’t be swapped and they have to stay for the whole duration

Anyone got thoughts on a sweep if you’re offered it?

Rojelio · 18/03/2020 16:33

I've been told partners will be allowed in by my midwife, I'm booked in for a sweep 4 days after due date, also been told baby is a good size so could do with not going over really 😬

abbs1 · 18/03/2020 17:30

@ShirleyPhallus I had my first sweep today. Not as bad as I thought. More just uncomfortable. Waiting to see if it has any effect. If not I'm having another one Saturday. I'm having mine due to small growth to see if I go into labour naturally before planned induction next week.
If it stops you going overdue I would have it.

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 18/03/2020 18:15

Im a fan of sweeps. It may not work first time but I think they do nudge things on a bit (if your cervix is in a favourable position).

Ive got another this saturday, then an induction on the 24th due to a big baby. Really hoping it works!

ELW85 · 18/03/2020 18:29

@Rhcat1 - we’re going to the RVI. I’m so sorry to hear about your partner; fingers crossed they get to be there and you’re all safe and well.

@abbs1 - I’m really pleased for you that your partner will be allowed in. I don’t mind the no visitors rule, as long as my DH can be there! Great to hear your sweep wasn’t too bad either - fingers crossed for you! Do you feel like it’s done much?
From the other threads I’ve read, it seems like it has an effect in a few hours, so here’s hoping for you!

abbs1 · 18/03/2020 18:35

@ELW85 I'm happy as long as my DH can be with me. I'm not fussed about visitors. They can see baby once I'm home.
I had a load of cramping after my sweep but it's all settled now. I'm 38 weeks which is quite early to do a sweep so im not sure whether it will work but I've been told to give it 48hours to see.

ELW85 · 18/03/2020 18:38

@abbs1 - exactly! As long as DH can be there 😊
Keeping everything crossed for you! I’ll be 39+6 when I have my sweep on Friday so I have no idea what to expect.

WingingIt101 · 18/03/2020 20:14

They won’t do a sweep where I live til 40 weeks 😟 I’ll definitely take it if I get there though!
Current guidance for our trust is birth partner fine but just one and then very limited visiting hours with only one adult visitor that can’t swap during the time frame. No kids at all - not a biggie for us as this is our first but appreciate for others that’ll be upsetting x

abbs1 · 18/03/2020 21:23

@ELW85 well all my plans went out the window. Been admitted with pre eclampsia so just been induced tonight! Cant wait to have my little one in my arms!

brummiemumm · 18/03/2020 21:31

I'm currently 37+4 so still a few weeks to go but I am desperate for baby to come sooner rather than later, while all this craziness is going on. I've just found out that the midwife led unit I had planned to give birth in is stopping births from tomorrow (found out from their Facebook page and then phoned to be told that the staff don't know any more than we do!) which is not ideal. So now need to find out where I'll be giving birth!

sjmco · 18/03/2020 21:44

Bit of good news.... baby boy was born weighing 7.7lbs! Nice and healthy. I'm now recovering from section.

Rojelio · 18/03/2020 21:54

Good luck @abbs1 hope it all goes smoothly!

Congratulations @sjmco I've had a section with my first and it can be tough going the first few days so take it easy, so pleased you have a baby here safe and sound Smile

WingingIt101 · 18/03/2020 23:22

Oh no @brummiemumm that’s rubbish news! Is it attached to a hospital or totally separate?
Congratulations @abbs1 lovely news from you! X

ELW85 · 18/03/2020 23:34

@abbs1 - good luck my dear!! Not long now 😃

@sjmco - congratulations!!
