Am I pregnant?

Please don't attack me for the title. I'm just hella confused.

32, f, TTC.

My period is 10 days late.
I have taken about 6/7 pregnancy tests, all showing a faint second line. I asked my DH to pee on one to see if they were faulty, he didn't get a second line, faint or otherwise.

These tests came with a pack of ovulation tests (Femometer I think) and I know the ovulation sticks work so by that logic I have no reason to fault the pregnancy sticks.

"Why don't you just go to a doctor?"
I work in a bookies and as Cheltenham is next week we are currently in the middle of our biggest rush of the year. If I call in sick for any days I lose my bonus (they call it incentive).
I also can't see an out of hours doc after work as they are all crazy busy with people freaking out about COVID19 now that it's in my city.

My question is: can faint lines mean pregnancy? My period is usually like clockwork so if it actually is just ten days late this will be a new one for me!

Yes it sounds probable you are pregnant, going to a doctor is pointless anyway at this stage, from experience nothing will happen until you book your first midwife appointment. Give it a week and test again using a digital test

Idontknowmyownname · 08/03/2020 02:35

@toomanygerbils if I'm pregnant, I'm 3 weeks pregnant (working off ovulation date and that) I would just be expecting more than a faint line.

How long did you wait for a conclusive doctors result?

I had fairly faint lines. Congrats. Book to see midwife in a few weeks.

Idontknowmyownname · 08/03/2020 02:45

@greenflamingo I feel like I'm hoping against hope as DH isn't convinced.

Thank you though!

Depends where you are, if in uk when I saw the doc at 5 weeks it was very dismissive. They didn’t test just said see reception to book a midwife appointment

Idontknowmyownname · 08/03/2020 02:50

@Toomanygerbils I'm in Ireland, this place is even worse again! NHS > HSE.
I'll wait for another test so.

Toomanygerbils · 08/03/2020 02:51

Your first midwife appoint won’t happen until you are 8 weeks plus so there is some waiting involved

Toomanygerbils · 08/03/2020 02:53

Just make sure your taking folic acid tablets in the meantime, you probably are anyhow if you were trying. I would recommend a digital test though, much clearer than faint could they couldn’t they be lines

Idontknowmyownname · 08/03/2020 02:57

I have been on the folic acid tablets for nearly a year at this stage, I'm hoping this is the monthHalo

I will buy the tests that spell it out in clear black and grey letters! Lol

A faint line is a line, congratulations!

My "faint line" is asleep upstairs. She'll be 7 years old soon Grin

A line is a line.

Idontknowmyownname · 08/03/2020 03:19

@somanydevices that is the funniest thing I've read all year "my faint line is asleep upstairs"

Thank You so much

And belated congrats Op, I should have said this to start with :)

Idontknowmyownname · 08/03/2020 03:45

@toomanygerbils tbh I was just glad of the reply I didn't really care what you were saying.. I just needed to know I wasn't insane Confused

But thank you so much

Let us know what the tests say, fingers and toes crossed for you x

PixieDustt · 08/03/2020 04:12

I'd say so yes! A line is a line!
Congratulations!
Doctors never confirmed my pregnancy never had an appointment with them. It was a self referral the the midwife. Start taking folic acid though.

Mummyspider27 · 08/03/2020 06:48

Can you upload a photo? We can see if we can see a line? X

Sulkypatsy · 08/03/2020 08:16

Best of luck. Really hope this works out for you. There's no point going to a doctor, in Ireland you're very unlikely to see a midwife before the 12/13 week mark unless you have to go to a&e in a maternity hospital. You can go to see your gp at some stage to get the referral to your choice of hospital, but they likely won't confirm pregnancy for you, I've only had this done once( because the doctor was sceptical that I could be pregnant). You can also just self refer through the hospital website(not sure if the hospitals outside Dublin have this option though)

Idontknowmyownname · 09/03/2020 14:20

How do I add a photo?

I took another test this morning, line is still faint but I am totally convinced I am pregnant.

I will buy some clear blue tests at the weekend to really set my mind at ease though.

I had to take the pic sideways because of the flash.
I also included a screenshot of how the tests should be interpreted.

@Peasfox are you playing on my team? I love Cheltenham week Grin

@stairgates thank you!

Lola871 · 09/03/2020 14:56

I can see a line, those strip tests are notorious for being faint, it'll probably be stronger on a different test!

Peasfox · 09/03/2020 15:01

Sadly not! I was hoping CV might scare a few of your horses away to give us a fighting chance 🤣

I live in the town so I’ll have a Guinness for you Thursday up the track 🍻 (would be rude not to seeing as you can’t drink anymore, I can see a faint line too! Congratulations🙂)

SapphosRock · 09/03/2020 15:11

Yep looks like you're pregnant. Congratulations!

I liked how you clarified you were female in the OP Grin
