What does VBAC mean?

carrot88 · 02/03/2020 14:38

@MamaNaz20 40 is definitely the new 20! Or so all my friends are saying as most of us are turning 40 this year!! We were worried about our age at first but we were really surprised how quick we got pregnant!

EssentialHummus · 02/03/2020 14:42

paris vaginal birth after c-section.

ParisInTheSpringtime · 02/03/2020 14:44

Thanks @EssentialHummus

FireflyGirl · 02/03/2020 14:56

Okay, I'm going to bite the bullet and join.

Am 4+4 with DC2, due 5 November all being well. DS is 5. I will be 36 next month, so feel in good company here.

Also hoping for vbac.

@wafflewafflewaffle Metronidazole are the antibiotics for dental issues which you can't drink on - I have frequent abcesses in my wisdom teeth, and was on these over New Year's (made sure I could drink over Christmas first!).

@Parisinthespringtime you can have a scan anytime, but for a useful scan you're looking after 6 weeks, because by then there should be a heartbeat. Before that, they can usually only see a yolk sac and fetal pole, which doesn't tell you more than that you have conceived (which you already know from the hundreds of times you've poas Grin).

@Whoamieven there's sometimes offers on Groupon for scans, about £40?

Sakura54 · 02/03/2020 15:17

That’s brave, guys. Is it because you want to experience a vaginal birth or because of the long c section recovery?

For me, I might not be allowed a VBAC, but I want a ELCS anyway as I don’t want to go through all that pain just to then be cut up again. Plus I want them to sort my existing scar out lol.

BeMorePacific · 02/03/2020 15:27

I had awful recovery, an infected wound etc. So would ideally like to avoid it. But if it’s not meant to be, I’d be fine with a C sec. I really enjoyed my experience 1st time around x

burntpinky · 02/03/2020 16:12

Does anyone else’s poo stink to high heaven?! I’ve just been for one at work and it smells like rotting drains!!!

FireflyGirl · 02/03/2020 16:26

Same as @BeMorePacific. I hated the injections, really struggled to recover physically, my wound got infected, I ended up with piles (although I accept this could have happened with a vaginal delivery) and I live rurally so was pretty much housebound for 6 weeks. I'd prefer to avoid all of that again, if possible, especially as I have to drive DS to and from school.

Mine was EMC, though, and recovery is supposed to be much faster and easier from elective (and anecdotally that seems to be true as well).

yeahseriously · 02/03/2020 16:40

Hey all! Due November 6, per calculators and near certainty on conception dateanother Valentine's baby, ha. Because of his job, my partner lives a solid 3 hour plane flight awaynot really ideal, but I guess we will figure it out! I'm 35 and had basically assumed I was infertile, but I had a polypectomy in December because of other issues, so maybe that just cleared up the blockage? Had some very light implantation spotting about 9 days after conception, then lots of cheapie strips and one stick confirmed things! So far, tired, crazy dreams, itchy eyes (I was so glad to hear that was a thing upthread because I found it so bizarre), bloated, and a fun assortment pack of GI issues. Seems bananas that the first appointment isn't until week 8, so I'm glad this forum is here with others who can sympathize! I think I'm just going to tell people I'm doing a dry March--maybe they'll think I have a different problem, but hey, they'll figure it out eventually. :)

Anon87 · 02/03/2020 17:00

Bit of both for me, I want to experience it if I can and I want to recover asap. DD's dad was an absolute pleb so I was still lifting fu casserole dishes in and out the oven just a couple days after we were home. Get this... Because his hands were sore!!! 🤦🏻‍♀️

Fast forward 13 years and my partner now has already shown that as soon as I'm the man down he steps up.

As for scarring, I had my first scar fixed so now have a neat hip to hip one. God knows how that's gonna stretch and end up 😳

Oldermum80 · 02/03/2020 17:57

Sorry if anyone has already posted but I’ve been at work and not had chance to catch up. Has anyone had a really dull ache low down? I’ve had it all day today. Hoping it’s nothing but worried as I had a miscarriage in Dec.

SJ1989 · 02/03/2020 18:02

Community midwife appointment on 13th feel ages off

Busybee143 · 02/03/2020 18:30

@Oldermum80
I have been very crampy again today. Last night i couldnt sleep because of it, it was terrible. Apparently its nothing to worry about but it doesnt feel good

Oldermum80 · 02/03/2020 18:34

@Busybee143 thank you for your reply. I’m out of practice and don’t remember 15 years ago with my last pregnancy. Hopefully I’m just overly anxious.

SqidgeBum · 02/03/2020 18:52

@OlderMum80 I have been cramping for the past few days too, like period ache. Its worrying, any pain is worrying in this situation, but its very normal.

Chickoletta · 02/03/2020 19:02

@Oldermum80 I’ve had the low down dull ache on and off for a few days. Currently 4+3. Seems to be very common.

@ParisInTheSpringtime - We’ve got friends coming down for the weekend in a few days’ time - I’ve decided to tell them that I’ve given up alcohol for Lent! Should see me through the next 36 days or so but not sure after that...

Oldermum80 · 02/03/2020 19:09

@SqidgeBum @chickoletta thank you both! I was a worrier with my last l, after a bleed. I never settled and kept thinking something would go wrong. Only 35 weeks to go...🤣

Moominmiss · 02/03/2020 19:33

Right, I wasn’t sure I was going to join yet as I’m so so nervous of this turning into a chemical.
But if it’s going to do that then there’s nothing I can do to change that so here I am 🙋🏼‍♀️
I miscarried at 8 weeks on 1st January. Had my negative tears and blood work confirmed my levels had dropped back to zero towards the end of the month.
I had my lmp 7th February. I got a positive opk on 20th feb, and got my bfp yesterday at supposedly 8dpo.
The pic attached is of today’s darker tests taken when I got home from work.
I’m 37, have 3 children already, all born by c section. First was EMC, second and third ELCS.
This baby will also have to be elective.
Very worried about my age and fourth c section etc. Just overall way more anxious this time around. Refuse to let myself get at all excited until at least 20 weeks I reckon 🙈
Going by lmp date and my old cycles of 29 days my due date is 14th November. BUT my elective would be booked around 12 days before that so early November.

yeahseriously · 02/03/2020 19:33

Definitely have it on one side at a time (but both sides at different times). Glad I’m not the only one!

Whoamieven · 02/03/2020 19:51

All these new type antenatal tests are confusing! When I had my last it was a standard nuchal fold measurement in the scan, and basic blood test. Anyone know what they do as standard now and what are the other options NIPT/harmony etc, are they private?

BabyKnighty1 · 02/03/2020 20:25

Hi all,

Just got my BFP yesterday and due on the 12th Nov so a very early positive! Super excited, I can’t stop thinking about it.
I’ve been having period type cramps and feeling soooo exhausted.
Not sure what to do next? call the dr and arrange an appointment?

SJ1989 · 02/03/2020 20:44

@whoamieven I think that's still the standard tbh

TinnedPearsForPudding · 02/03/2020 20:59

Hi....I'm nervously moving over here from the infertility board. Got my BFP & positive blood test after IVF. Still don't really believe it yet!

Whoamieven · 02/03/2020 23:23

@BabyKnighty1 congrats!!
If you have any medical issues or medication then book to see your GP. If not just call your surgery and ask how you book in with the midwife, and you'll see her around 8 weeks:)
