Is heartburn linked to having a baby with a head of hair?

Hello guys, I know many of us have heard that having heartburn during pregnancy means that the baby will have hair but I'm 32 weeks now and have not had one bit of heartburn ( I know I could still get it as I'm only 32 weeks) but has any woman not had heartburn but had a baby with hair? Not that I care in the slightest! It's just a general question 🥰

Nope! The worst heartburn I had was with my daughters who were bald until they were about two 😂

I only had a little bit of heartburn towards the end of my pregnancy and only when I lay down at night, and our DD had a ridiculous amount of jet black hair!

Had heartburn with DS1 who had a lovely head of dark hair. Then I had heartburn from hell with DS2, and he was bald as a coot 🤷‍♀️

I had the worst heartburn with ds2 from about 12 weeks and he was bald til he was 5! Load of rubbish!

It's an old wives tale and I don't see how a baby on the womb having hair could give anyone heartburn. I didn't have any heart burn and both my children were born with lots of hair.

By the sounds of it, looks like heartburn means bald baby instead 😂

I was pregnant at the same time as my best friend. She had horrendous heartburn, I had none. Her baby was bald, mine had hair. It's a load of bollocks!

There is some truth to it; iirc heartburn can either be caused by a hormone related to baby's hair growth or just the pressure of the baby on your stomach. It depends which of those is causing your heartburn.

I had pretty bad heartburn and DD had plenty of hair at birth. We went for a 3D scan at 32w and the sonographer switched back to 2D to look for hair at our request- you could see a big clump of it!

Me! I had two babies with lots of hair & no heartburn whatsoever

But my middle child was born bald - and I had no heartburn with him either.

I had horrendous heartburn from 4 months onwards and DS was born with absolutely LOADS of dark hair. But he was also two weeks late so not sure if that had something to do with it. Correlation does not equal causation!

I think it's just another old wives tale TBH. I some women who've had terrible heartburn and others that had none at all and the babies are all different sexes and some with hair, some bald. Don't think there's any pattern to it.

When my Baby was born the midwife said she'd never seen a baby with no much hair - didn't have heartburn once!

All 3 of mine were born with impressive mops of dark hair, and I never suffered with heartburn during pregnancy!!

I had heartburn with dc 1 and none with dc2. They both had loads of hair.

I was swigging gaviscon like it was going out of fashion with my DD. I had horrific heartburn and she was born.....bald 👶

I’ve had three DC and with the first two I got heartburn just for the last month which I just assumed was because they were taking up so much space at that point. They had a little bit of hair not loads though. With my third I had absolutely dreadful heartburn from about 16 weeks. It was horrendous all day every day right through to the end of my pregnancy and so many people told me she’d be born with loads of hair. I smiled along but thought is was a load of tosh and I knew my babies didn’t tend to be born with a lot of hair. Anyway, when she was born, sure enough she had more hair than I have ever seen on a baby. It was quite a shock! She was a little celeb in my village...the tiny baby with loads of hair! She’s almost 2 now...she never lost her hair and now it’s beautifully thick!

It’s the one superstition that has peer reviewed papers suggesting it could be true.
I had horrific heartburn and a baby as hairy as the babies in the Father Ted episode. He had massive sideburns that fell out almost immediately and a hairy forehead. He looked like an exquisite little monkey.
