Is heartburn linked to having a baby with a head of hair?

Hello guys, I know many of us have heard that having heartburn during pregnancy means that the baby will have hair but I'm 32 weeks now and have not had one bit of heartburn ( I know I could still get it as I'm only 32 weeks) but has any woman not had heartburn but had a baby with hair? Not that I care in the slightest! It's just a general question 🥰

I had heartburn so bad that I sent DH to Tesco at 2am more than once, and my daughter had so much hair that people were being brought onto the ward just to look at her. One midwife said to me 'wow, I heard there was a hairy baby!' Grin

Nope. Had terrible heartburn with both my 2 and while they were born with a bit of hair, it certainly wasn't very much. I was quite disappointed in dc1 as everyone told me the heartburn-hair link and I was expecting luscious locks!

Heartburn is about pregnancy, shape of stomach, diet, medication, stress and weight. Not about baby gender 😃
Anecdotally I was bald for my first 2 years, my hairy sibling baby photos are cuter but my DM says she never has had heartburn in her life yet!

Bad heart burn with baby no 1 and she had a lovely head of hair.

Severe heart burn which had me in tears and had to get something stronger than gaviscon from the dr so I looked forward to an even hairier baby and he was born as bald as his father 😂

I didn't get heart burn at all and DS came out with a full head of hair.

My heartburn was progressively worse and started earlier in each pregnancy. All four babies were bald.

Both mine were hairy and I didn't get much heartburn at all

I always figured you’ve got a belly full of baby, of course you’re going to have heartburn. And I did terribly with my first. Who had lots of hair! Didn’t have it with my second and she had hardly any. But there was nearly 2lbs difference in birth weight too! So who bloody knows lol

I had no heartburn, and DD had so much hair that it was the first thing everyone commented on when they met her!

Zero link.

It’s just an old wives’ tale. Yes, I had such bad heartburn I wanted to claw out my own oesophagus, and DS emerged with a black Mohawk, but I don’t see the slightest correlation.

Bad heartburn in pregnancy is from progesterone making stomach acid leak back up your oesophagus because the valve in between relaxes. Not because you’re carrying a hairy baby.

I'v found this to be true DC1 hideous heartburn and born with a full head of thick hair. DC2 no heartburn and no hair. DC3 some heartburn and born with s head of fine hair.

There’s a paper on Pubmed showing a link: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/17150070/
That’s the same place doctors are getting the information they use to treat you, so there is actual evidence it’s true, not just anecdata.
