Bright red blood at 10+1

Hi ladies.
I have previously had 3 MMC. 2 mmc the had my DD, then another MMC. Currently 10+1. Today i started bleeding bright red blood. Enough to need a pad. Rang the EPU and they told me to go in. I was examined, and told my cervix is open a tiny bit, but that's because ive had DD and 3 MC. Other than that, it looks as it should. She did say that, that could change over the course of a hour. So whether I MC is uncertain. I have been booked in for a scan on Tuesday, I guess im just looking for some reassurance. Since coming home from the hospital, the bleeding has slowed, and is now brow, which I'm hoping is a good sign. Ive had period type pains. But had them all the way through. Has anyone been through similar, and had a positive outcome? I also had a scan last week at 9+1, and hoping it's true that your chances of mc drop after seeing a heartbeat.

TIA x

Haven't been in a similar position, but hope your baby sticks well!

Also hope someone might have some reassurance to give you!

SavanahXx · 13/02/2020 22:14

@R2D2abc thank you for not just reading and running! And thank you for your kind thoughts.

I had this twice at 7 and 10 weeks. I had big bleeds with lots of red blood that eased off after a few hours and eventually turned brown. I was scanned both times and everything was fine. I’m 13 weeks now and so far so good.
Have they suggested a scan? Hoping for the best for you OP. It’s such a stressful time Flowers

Hopefully this could just be a bleed , happens all the time, as long as there were no clots stay hopeful! And the bloods turned brown meaning it's old blood, let us know how you get on, praying for you ❤️ also you've seen a heartbeat that's a mega sign!! Your chances of Mc decrease soooo much after hearing that heartbeat xx

Houseworkavoider · 14/02/2020 00:28

I had a smallish, bright red bleed at nine weeks. She’s 12 now!
I hope yours goes as well as mine did Flowers

JenNtonic · 14/02/2020 00:38

Awwwww hope you're as ok as you can be, for what it's worth, I had bright red spotting in my pregnancy, actually at about the same time xx it's really not as uncommon /alarming as you think. I'm not a doctor but please get checked and update 🤞🥰👶🏽😇⭐️👑

SavanahXx · 14/02/2020 13:42

Thank you everyone! I'm praying it goes well. Im still spotting brown blood with stringy bits. Sorry for the tmi. I had my scan last week before the bleed and everything looked good then. Epu were useless yesterday. Im still cramping. But taking it easy. It feels like such a drag till Tuesday 😥😥 thanks to you all for your kind words. It means alot ❤❤

I had bleeding in both my pregnancies - one ended in miscarriage and the other is now a healthy toddler! I really don't think it can be taken as an indication either way. Fingers crossed for you!

SavanahXx · 14/02/2020 14:00

@peachgreen sorry to hear about you mc. They are heartbreaking! I hope my outcome turns out positive. It's nice to hear successful outcomes. Gives me a little bit of positivity

Hi

In a similar position just spent all morning in epu after having a gush of red blood this morning, currently 14+2. Previously I have had brown spotting on and off since week 6 and had a scan at 8 and 12 weeks which were all good. At the epu they checked my cervix which is closed and said bleeding had stopped by the time I was seen and booked me in for a scan on Wednesday which seems forever away. When I got home I had some brown stringy discharge and now it has stopped completely - with my spotting the midwife explained that it was probably due to a sensitive cervix/cervical changes so I havent stressed much but after this morning I'm having major anxiety Sad @SavanahXx how are you feeling now?

Robstersgirl · 16/02/2020 18:05

I’m 17 weeks and have bled bright red heavy blood throughout most of my pregnancy. I have a colposcopy on Tuesday to try and get to the bottom of it. Baby is fine (I’ve had 6 scans now!)
I’ve had 6 MC’s (I have 5 children) so know how completely consuming and scary it is when you see blood. Mine was so heavy they had to get a second speculum. They think mines due to my cervix. Sending positivity and hugs. Flowers

@Charchar19 I'm so sorry you're going through this too. It's awful. How are you feeling now?

And im still an anxious mess. Haven't bled bright red since coming home from the hospital, didn't bleed most of yesterday but then started brown spotting again and had a few stringy bits. Had cramping too. But the midwife rang Friday to say I've got a UTI and I've read that untreated infections can cause bleeding. So I'm just praying the pains an bleeding is because of the uti. Praying for your bub too 🙏🙏 it feels like such a long wait doesn't it. The days feel 3x longer than usual!

@Robstersgirl I'm glad your baby is doing well! And i hope they find the cause to your bleeding soon. It's so scary. Especially after previous losses. You just automatically think that everything's over again. I keep finding myself just waiting for it to happen, but it hasn't so far.

I wish this wouldn't of happened so close to my birthday. Birthdays tomorrow but I'm going to spend it resting and anxious. Wish they would have brought my scan forward! At least i wouldn't be in limbo and grieve if its bad news, or be positive that it isn't.

I has huge bleeds at 6 and 8 weeks and bled all the way to 17 weeks. It was coming from the placenta. My little boy has just turned 5 but I was terrified the whole pregnancy. Hopefully your baby will be fine xxx

SavanahXx · 16/02/2020 20:01

@Cutesbabasmummy im so glad that it turned out that your little boy was ok! It's hard enough being worried throughout pregnancy, let alone the added worry from bleeding. It's terrible!

Thought I would give a little update on my situation for those stressed. So today I woke up and red bleeding from yesterday had gone and was just brown spotting - the day went on and around midday I felt a rush again and ran to the toilet and my pad was soaked in red blood and it was still gushing (sorry if tmi!) Tried to get through to the ward I was on yesterday but 20 calls later and couldn't get through so to A & E I went, had to go through the blood tests etc again. Waited about 4 hours and was finally seen on maternity ward the doctor checked my cervix again which was closed but I was still actively bleeding so she organised an scan instead of me waiting for the booked one on Wednesday. Went for the scan so so nervous but baby was healthy and heartbeat was seen - she spent a while looking around and could see no bleeding near the baby, placenta etc and the cervix was fully closed. The reason is apparently unknown and that can happen she said if my bleeding happens a lot I may need to be checked for anemia - so over the moon that baby is healthy obviously still concerned as I'm still bleeding and the cause is unknown but that's a worry for another day!

SavanahXx · 17/02/2020 20:32

@Charchar19 im so happy for you. Im glad your little one has a strong heartbeat! I hope mines the same tomorrow. I hope you have a happy, healthy pregnancy!

I’m so pleased. It’s such a relief when you see them in there ok isn’t it! Bleeding is so worrying. Did they mention cervical erosion? So happy for you!
