i had a really really bad cough, sat on the loo and coughed at the same time and it dislodged my plug! ds born shortly after 3 weeks early!

thegardener · 03/09/2007 14:00

Raspberry leaf tablets, clary sage oil in a burner(i had a big sniff of it day before ds arrived,i couldn't remember what it smelt like, don't know if that had anything to do with 3 week early arrival)light digging in garden and sex

Meggymoose · 03/09/2007 14:14

A whole fresh pineapple (ate it!)

chipkid · 03/09/2007 14:20

curry

Gudgeon · 03/09/2007 14:21

trip on jiggly joggly old-fashioned routemaster bus (for DSs 1 and 2)

acupuncture (by-product of treatment for backache) with DS3

Slubberdegullion · 03/09/2007 14:28

Watching birth video. Felt like I was contracting with them and then...oh my word I was contracting with them.

claraq · 03/09/2007 15:14

I lay on my back and someone cut me open and pulled her out.

missyhols · 03/09/2007 16:14

Lol at clara.

Well curry next on list as is c sage. I've been having pains on and off for week and half now. So hoping this will kick the little princess out. Before i lose my mind with this bloody spd and carpal tunnel syndrome.

I'm holding all hope on clary sage that kicked dd1 up the bum.

Oh and lots of toothpaste in prep for dh!

Everything is just an urban myth. my sister is a midwife and nothing, nothing can bring on labour. Sex only works once you have already started dilating, in which case you are in labour anyway but may not realise it. Baby will only come when its ready.

lita2000 · 03/09/2007 16:29

Hysterical laughter - I was on the phone to a friend who really makes me laugh. 8 hours later DD was born.

PenelopePissedup · 03/09/2007 16:29

via induction.

puffylovett · 03/09/2007 16:31

sex, clary sage, rubber ball, shopping, scrubbing the floor, walking the dog, taking caulophyllum, you name it i did it and he still only came when he was ready !

leesmum · 03/09/2007 16:44

Had hot'n'spicy pizza a glass of wine went to bed early(on my own!), Then woke up 4hrs later when waters broke, got to hospital and was 7cms had ds an hour later.

I stll blame v. hot pizza

juuule · 03/09/2007 16:47

Induction

FuriousGeorge · 03/09/2007 20:50

A hot chili & a lavender bath.It was the hot summer of 2003,I had put on over 4 stone & no way was I going overdue.

If that hadn't worked,my dad had volunteered to drive me across bumpy fields on the back of a tractor.

Pickie · 03/09/2007 20:57

acupunturist did induction and it worked, every time she was touching certain needles another contraction would start (scary!)!!!

missyhols · 03/09/2007 21:43

Gosh really? Was that just normal accupuncture? Just waiting for my pizza to arrive! I've had a clary sage bath which has brought back my irreg pains but i also used it with base oil and have my bump a massage. Lol.

my waters broke and nothing happened and was booked in for induction. MW suggested acupunture earlier on in pregnancy for baby being breech, called her and she came to house inserted needles and half and hour later was in full labour.

tried again with DD but she was having none of it and came out when she wanted!! (MW okayed inducytion via acupunture @37 weeks as she was large)

maxbear · 03/09/2007 22:28

Sweep, then sex that night did the trick first time round. Second time round just sex did the trick, had also eaten a lot of fresh pineapple in the few weeks preceeding birth, and been for an extremely long walk the day before I went in to labour. Nipple stim after the sex also helped to get contractions started.

quint · 03/09/2007 22:41

DD1 a sweep and chilli DD2 sweep and curry (think it was more the sweep to be honest but now on the eve of DD1 birthday we have chilli and in a couple of weeks time we will have to have a curry as it will be DD2's 1st birthday - yeah we survived!)

The woman who did the sweep with DD1 actually told us to go home and have sex - not sure what my parents reaction would have been as they were staying with us at the time!

quint · 03/09/2007 22:41

Dh just reminded me we told them what she said and they offered to go out for a while!!!

Due date came and went. Didn't want to be induced. Pleaded with hospital to let me hang on for a while to see if labour would start naturally. Tried everything (i think raspberry leaf tea hasn't been mentioned on here yet).

14 days later hospital said 'enough'!

Had prostglandin gel - nothing. They broke my waters - nothing. Did a few laps of the park next to the hospital all the while leaking amniotic fluid - nothing. So ended up on the oxytocin drip anyway.

Doesn't matter how it started though - the end product is perfect in every way!!

missyhols · 04/09/2007 07:28

Lol at quint bless your parents.

Well sod all happened last night. By time dh was home from work i was out of it lol. I'll give clary sage out again. I'm desperate now this spd is getting agony. seeing midwife tomorrow

I tried the works - curry, raspberry leaf tea, sex - nothing worked. I had acupuncture when my son was 11 days overdue and went into lkabour that night.
