Pretty much everyone I have spoken to has said their waters broke or contractions started in the middle of the night/during sleep when they’re most relaxed!
Has anyone's labour started during the day while they’ve actually been active?

I’m 40+1 and completely fed up of obsessing over every little symptom... getting on my own nerves now!!! X

Nicelunch25 · 10/02/2020 06:44

6pm on a Thursday night when holly oaks was coming on I had my show. My mum appeared round to visit me almost straight away. Must have been her intuition Grin

I was buying ham at the butcher's about 2pm in the afternoon. The chap asked how I was today and I told him that I thought I had just gone into labour! I can't remember what he said but I went home and cleaned up the house etc. DD arrived 7.30am the next day. Waters didn't go until just before she arrived though.

Sipperskipper · 10/02/2020 06:48

About 10pm, in bed but not asleep. Had walked 6 miles and had a spicy chicken burger pub lunch that afternoon, which I think helped! I was 40+6.

I had a hotel and had had a really busy day. I was cooking evening snacks for some of the guests when labour started with my daughter. It was a similar scenario with my son. When my daughter had my grandson labour started when we were shopping at Cheshire Oaks. All were quick labours . I think keeping active really helps.

HelloDulling · 10/02/2020 06:54

Both of mine woke me at 4:30am. One with contractions, one with waters going.

Qwertyguerty · 10/02/2020 07:06

Mine started at 9am on a Monday. I was waiting on the sofa for DH to finish making breakfast

40something hrs later we had our daughter!

taptonaria27 · 10/02/2020 07:13

My waters went (with.a trickle) at about 5pm when I was laid on the sofa having a nap after aqua natal class. I thought it was swimming pool water at first!

whiskeysourpuss · 10/02/2020 07:21

DD1 around 7pm I was at my parents for dinner after a day shopping for flower girls dresses.

DD2 8:30am I was pottering around doing housework.

DS around 11:30pm I was in bed trying to sleep after a busy evening of getting everything ready for DD's going back to school after the Christmas holidays.

knittedgoldfish · 10/02/2020 07:26

Mine went while I was cooking dinner. Contractions started 15 minutes after. Baby born 2 hours later.

Pinkflipflop85 · 10/02/2020 07:27

Dc1 - eating lunch with my mum
DC2 - waters broke around 7pm while I was doing dc1 bedtime. Labour started 38 hours later.

Buddywoo · 10/02/2020 07:29

About 7pm. I had just done the washing up and felt a pop and a couple of seconds later there was water all over the floor. I remember I had felt a bit off colour all day but DH insisted I did the washing up.

Trahira · 10/02/2020 07:31

Mine tend to be in the evening.

DC1 - 5.30pm on a Sunday when I was watching TV
DC2 - 7pm when I'd just put DC1 to bed
DC3 - 5pm while I was giving the other two their tea.

rumandbiscuits · 10/02/2020 07:33

3am I woke up with period like pains and from then it progressed.

PandaCat · 10/02/2020 07:35

DD1 we had just got into bed after I'd felt weird, I didn't say anything or do anything but about 15mins after the light had been switched off DP switched it back on and asked what was wrong! I told him I felt weird and had some sort of pains in my bump and it just went from there... Baby was born just over 7hrs later.

DD2 we had takeaway and watching a film, it was Valentine's evening. My stomach started to ache, but in the you've eaten too much kind of way! I went upstairs to pee as I reached the bathroom door I felt a sudden wetness down there I thought to myself I didn't need to pee that much! So went into the bathroom took trousers off and water just poured out of me, it was my waters, contractions started an hour later and baby was born 2.5hrs later, early hours the next morning!

I consider myself lucky that both labours were late night/early hours!

FrederickSinclair · 10/02/2020 07:38

First pregnancy waters went about 4am, second pregnancy got woken by contractions at 1am

Mamabear88 · 10/02/2020 07:41

My labour stopped and started but I started getting contractions at about 10pm two nights before which lasted a few hours then stopped. Started getting more late the next morning which again lasted a few hours then stopped. Started for real at around 10pm the next night. All three times I was at home.

Lordfrontpaw · 10/02/2020 07:44

I had just sat down to (a late) dinner and newsnight had come on. We were in our way to the hospital before the end of newsnight.

Dmr1996 · 10/02/2020 07:44

Mine started at 8.30pm at 40+2, only previous sign was losing parts of my plug over 2 days!

MrsCl19 · 10/02/2020 07:45

I woke up at 8am and had mild contractions 2pm I went into the day unit to get checked and she said I was only 2cm go home it could be awhile... got home got into bed and literally heard and felt a pop shuffled off the bed and had a gushing of my waters at around 3pm. Dd finally arrives 10:46pm

Lilice · 10/02/2020 07:48

10 am : my waters broke in front of everyone at my daughter's ballet class 😂

TheGriffle · 10/02/2020 07:52

Dd1 I was woken up by contractions around midnight and my waters went an hour or 2 later.

Dd2 I could feel my waters bulging while I walked waddled round Tescos, got home, put my few bits of shopping away and me dh and dd1 were all getting ready to go to the park about 12.30pm and they popped in my hallway. Contractions didn’t start though so I was induced the next afternoon and she was here by 5.30pm.

SentimentalKiller · 10/02/2020 07:52

3am I was trying to sleep. I tried to ignore thinking I'd be more up for labour after a good night's sleep
Waters didn't to until dc was born at 9am

Cardboard33 · 10/02/2020 08:07

Not sure but we decided that I was in labour at about 11pm just as we were about to go to bed. Got to hospital for 5am and baby was here by 8am. I'd felt like I was on my period for the last day or so but had just assumed it was my body prepping for labour in a few weeks time (I was only 36 weeks) so had got on with the day as normal. Oh and my waters didn't break until right before the baby was born, but they did go with a bang rather than gradually.

Peanutty86 · 10/02/2020 08:29

Went to sleep with nothing at around 12am, woke up at 2:30 with intense contractions 3 mins apart lasting 50 secs.
