Pretty much everyone I have spoken to has said their waters broke or contractions started in the middle of the night/during sleep when they’re most relaxed!
Has anyone's labour started during the day while they’ve actually been active?

I’m 40+1 and completely fed up of obsessing over every little symptom... getting on my own nerves now!!! X

My son was born in his waters, contractions woke me just after midnight, he was born at 6am Grin

BayHorse · 10/02/2020 08:44

My waters went at 2.30 in the afternoon. I was literally pulling down my pants, about to go for a wee so the timing couldn't have been better.
Contractions started about 7pm.

I was 40+2, hadn't done anything out of the ordinary.

So interesting how for some people waters break and contractions start immediately, for others they go and then contractions start a few hours later, for some the contractions happen first and then waters break at some point and for some the waters don't go until baby is born!

For my I had contractions from about 9am (I was still in bed), waters went at 12pm and baby born at 1.30pm

ImportantWater · 10/02/2020 08:50

My first one was at around 6.30 pm, just before dinner. That was contractions, midwife had to break my waters, DS born at 10am.
Second was more conventionally around 4am. Again no waters. DS2 born midday.

Mintjulia · 10/02/2020 08:54

I was cleaning the kitchen floor on a Saturday morning.

MsSquiz · 10/02/2020 08:56

My contractions started at 8:30am, 2 days before my due date. I'd been up since 6am, but hadn't been particularly active!

I didn't have an obvious show so still have no idea when that happened, and my waters were broken in hospital, so the first I knew of it was the contractions!

Cdl84 · 10/02/2020 08:57

7 am in bed just after waking up waters broke, contractions started 30 mins later.

Iwantacookie · 10/02/2020 08:58

With Ds1 I was in the pub about 7pm. Didnt realise I was actually in labour though until about midnight.
Other dcs I woke up in labour though.

Snowflake9 · 10/02/2020 08:59

Had my show 3 days before. Mine started at 4am in bed. Contractions began, no doubt in my mind that's what they were. Managed to sleep until 7, waking up for each contraction.

Pilot12 · 10/02/2020 09:00

4am and 3am, sorry!

sofakingawesome · 10/02/2020 09:03

My waters went at 2.30pm while I was getting my toddler ready to take to soft play. Little one was born at 5.13pm same day. My first started at 5.30am and was born at 5.35pm same day

Piecrust32 · 10/02/2020 09:05

All four of mine started when I got up in the morning , water broke and small twinges, I always get ridiculously hot a couple days before baby is due

elliejjtiny · 10/02/2020 09:10

Dc1 contractions started Saturday evening and baby born Sunday evening
Dc2 waters broke in bed, contractions started 4 days later
Dc3 waters broke in bed, contractions started 2 days later as I was pacing the hospital corridors waiting to be induced.
Dc4 waters went in bed, had elcs 2 days later
Dc5 waters went in the evening just as we were sitting down to have dinner. Contractions started in the bath, 9 very long days later.

yadayadayesokay · 10/02/2020 09:13

For DD2 mild contractions started last night at 40+3 around 10pm while I was sitting on my birthing ball watching the new Rambo film. I thought I had trapped wind. They ramped up until unbearable with the TENS machine, arrived at hospital fully dilated around 2.30 and gave birth at 3.40. Good luck with your birth, I hope it all goes well!

GinUnicorn · 10/02/2020 09:14

Changed the bed sheets then decided to have a rest and lie down for a minute. Waters broke all over clean sheets and contractions started a about 20minutes later

MinkowskisButterfly · 10/02/2020 10:03

1st labour was induced. 2nd labour 5am, awake in bed, reading mn classics and laughing so much, thought I'd wet myself until I stood up and gushed like the in movies.

Roozy123 · 10/02/2020 10:06

My 1st I was induced.

My 2nd I woke up because of period like pains and just fell back to sleep.. about 30 mins later they were still waking me up! This was around 7am/8am I got up was washing up and tidying the flat and wasn't 100 percent if i was in labour.
Pains got stronger and next thing I was in the birthing suite after bouncing on a birthing ball for a while at home lol.

easythere · 10/02/2020 10:24

Both of my labours started around 5 am as I was waking up.

With DD1 my water broke in bed and with DD2 my water didn't break until I gave birth.

Urkiddingright · 10/02/2020 11:25

Started at midnight with DC1 but I was prepared for it because I’d had a sweep the day before and I’d been having erratic cramping all day. I was sitting on my birthing ball at the time and just thought I needed to get to hospital ASAP because the pain was becoming too much.

DC2 my contractions started at 2pm in the afternoon, again it was the day after I had a sweep so I was expecting it. I stayed at home until I was 9cm dilated and she arrived 5 hours after the contractions started.

DC3 the contractions started at about 4pm. I had my bloody show a few hours before so knew it was imminent. I remember sitting at the dining table breathing through the pain when my Mum arrived to collect the older two DC.

My waters didn’t break until just before they were all born, I had to push the waters out before they came.

Hangingofftheboob · 10/02/2020 11:59

Woke up about 8am on 40+1 and noticed period-pain like cramps which ramped up throughout the day... waters at 7pm and delivered at 9pm.

Lazydaisydaydream · 10/02/2020 16:39

I was told you are more likely to go into labour at night because your hormones peak at around 2am.

I started having contractions at around lunchtime but didn't realise what they were. Went into hospital that evening for my booked induction and they couldn't do it as I was already in labour Grin. My waters were broken by the midwife so no idea when they would have gone.

Baby was born about 24 hours after contractions started, but born by emcs.

SeeUNextTuesday · 10/02/2020 16:55

Mine woke me up with a massive pop about 4.30am. He was born that afternoon at 3.30 just as the labour ward were about to send me home!
