Hey everyone, I found out I'm pregnant on Saturday:) In November last year I had an ectopic pregnancy at 6 weeks and had my right tube removed. Im absolutely terrified that the same is going to happen again. Woken up this morning and I've got a heavy feeling on the left side where my tube is this is scaring the crap out of me. Spoken to the EPU and I've a scan on the 21st Feb but that seems ages away I desperately want this pregnancy to be ok but I'm too scared to let myself get excited.

Hi

I'm in the same position. Suffered an ectopic at 7 weeks and had to have emergency surgery to remove my left tube 18 months ago

Discovered I was pregnant a couple of weeks before Christmas. We went for an early scan at 6 weeks for reassurance and everything was where it should be and in the right place and looking healthy. Have my 12 week scan next week and it has been the longest 6 week wait ever

My anxiety has been quite high and every pain or twinge my brain has automatically gone to thinking something is wrong. I do keep talking about it with my husband and that has helped but I still can't help thinking something is going to come along and burst our bubble. Once we get next week out the way I'll hopefully begin to relax a bit more. I am starting to feel some changes now so I'm feeling more positive that it is progressing as it should.

I totally understand your fear but just try and take it a day at a time. It's easy to say but try not to let your brain go in to overdrive. They couldn't give me a reason for my ectopic, it was just one of those things but there would be no particular reason for it to happen again

Will you be around 6 weeks when you go for your scan? Can they not offer you an earlier appointment? My Dr was lovely and totally understood my fear and referred me to the EPU straight away but I still had to wait a couple of weeks which was torture

I hope everything goes ok for you xxx

I called the EPU today and explained about the feeling on the left side they told me to go in for a scan. Had the scan and they couldn't see a pregnancy sack in my womb but the Dr said it could just be that it's too early to see. Had bloods taken as well, on my way home the EPU called me and told me my HCG level is at 594 so feeling a bit better knowing my levels are good. Got to go back Saturday to have bloods taken again x

Fingers crossed for you it's just a bit early to see then. And definitely reassuring about your levels.

I think when you've had a loss previously it's completely normal to have anxiety about it. Good luck xx

Just to offer you hope. I had an ectopic, managed by injection. We decided to stop trying as we'd previously had a miscarriage and felt drained by it. I became pregnant unexpectedly and worried so much. I had a lot of pain and was convinced the same thing was happening. It didn't and I now have a 2 year old. I was in a lot of pain so was very surprised everything was ok. They said it could be due to scar tissue. Good luck.

@Glitterchik hi OP!! 😊

Congratulations on your pregnancy my lovely!!! 💕
Just some reassurance had an ectopic last summer with tube removed... found out jan 12 I was pregnant... had a scan at 6+5 and saw babies heart beat, beating away everything looking healthy and good, confirmed in the right place also!

I still have the niggles and pains in my left side where the tube was removed all perfectly normal just the baby stretching you out!

I'm sure everything is going to be fine!! Wishing you a healthy and happy pregnancy 💕💕xxx

bwSB · 07/02/2020 10:03

I am in the same position. I had an ectopic in 2018 with my right tube removed. I found out I was pregnant just before Christmas. In between Christmas & new year I felt pain & EPAS got me in for early scanning & bloods, at the time they couldn’t definitely say that it wasn’t ectopic as they couldn’t see a sac in my womb but after my bloods taken they confirmed it wasn’t an ectopic. I’m not nearly 11 weeks & got myself a private scan & baby is healthy & heart beating away! I understand the anxiety & fear as I feel like I’ve lived in that bubble for the last few months, just waiting for the hope to be ripped out from under me! Try to stay positive. My goal was to put positive vibes into the universe & hope they stayed my way. I found the more I worried about things the more I found things to worry about. It’s so difficult but your time will come & you will get through whatever it throws at you! My biggest advice is to get a private scan if you feel the anxiety is too much, the second I seen my baby & a heartbeat my mind was at ease! Good luck & keep us all updated. You’re not alone in this journey xx

It's so nice to hear success stories congratulations to you ladies. I went to the EPU yesterday because I had pain and was worried they scanned me but couldn't see a sac in my womb the Dr said it may just be too early to see anything. They took my blood and my hcg level is at 594 I read at 4 weeks it should be around 424 so my levels are looking good. Got to go back tomorrow to have bloods taken again to check the levels are rising. Feeling a bit reassured now I know my levels are good, also did another test yesterday and the line is much darker now. So hoping that everything is going to be ok this time.

Hello! In the same boat here and glad to have found you!
I had an ectopic last September at 7 weeks which was managed with methotrexate. Have just found out I'm pregnant again which, based on last period makes me 4+2. Have spoken to EPU who have booked me a scan for Monday. I'm now freaking out that they won't be able to see anything as it's such early days.

Got everything crossed for you @Glitterchik

It's so scary having to wait

Glitterchik · 07/02/2020 14:25

@Huffthepuff I was 4+5 yesterday and they couldn't see anything but everybody's cycle lengths are different so it all depends. Got everything crossed for you that all's well, keep us updated x

Huffthepuff · 07/02/2020 15:01

Thanks Glitter, you too. Let us know how you get on after your blood test tomorrow.

I remember the EPU woman saying on the phone that I'd need another scan in two weeks so they are probably not expecting to see anything but at least they can take my bloods and get the ball rolling on checking levels

Glitterchik · 07/02/2020 18:14

@Huffthepuff at least by getting your levels checked it will give you a tiny bit more reassurance things are going well x

Glitterchik · 08/02/2020 17:47

Had my bloods done and the results are thankfully good, on Thursday my hcg level was 594 today it's 1594 so it's more than doubled Grin feeling z bit more reassured now that things are progressing as they should be x

That's amazing @Glitterchik! So pleased for you!
Have they asked you to go back in for more tests/scans? You must be so relieved!

bwSB · 08/02/2020 18:57

@Glitterchik this is what happened with me & it was such a relief to see those blood tests! I’m now 11 weeks & have a healthy baby growing away with a nice strong heartbeat. Good luck & keep us all updated 💗

Glitterchik · 09/02/2020 07:56

They're going to phone no on Monday with a date for a scan. @bwSB congratulations you must be over the moon. Can't wait until we've seen baby on the scan x

EPU phoned, got my scan on Thursday afternoon. Feeling so scared even though hcg levels were rising well and morning sickness has hit me hard. Desperately want everything to be ok x

Hi ladies, so sorry to hear about your previous EPs - I'm after a bit of advice really. I had a bleed at the end of last month that I thought was AF, even though I was convinced I was pregnant (had taken a test a couple of days before and was negative) - after "AF" I still felt pregnant so did a test and sure enough got a BFP - this was definitely heavier than what I would assume implantation would be though.

Anyway, long story short - I had a call from my midwife today to get my booking in appt organised and mentioned it to her - she has booked me in for an early scan which has obviously concerned me and made me turn to Google (stupidly 🙄) where I've seen a couple of similar stories which have ended in EPs. I'm just wondering what all your symptoms of EP were? I'm 7 weeks this Friday and had mild cramps between 5/6 weeks which I assumed was just everything stretching and I also had some brown spotting (only when wiping) around the same time - nothing since but I'm now worried sick 😭

whambam89 · 11/02/2020 18:10

I'm so sorry I've just read that and realised it sounds really insensitive... Promise I didn't mean it to come across that way, I'm just so worried 😭

bwSB · 11/02/2020 18:49

My ectopic symptoms started with cramping & fresh bleeding. 24 hours later I had severe pain in my upper right side (I was convinced it was a kidney infection as I felt it was no where near my ovaries/tube). I attended EPAS who scanned me & took bloods & believed there was something in my tube but couldn’t confirm until blood tests. After confirmation I was given the option of medical or surgical management, I chose medical. 2 weeks later after returning for blood tests every week to ensure things were working (my hcg levels were falling so all signs pointed that it was), I had severe pain in my upper side again with constant nausea & unable to tolerate anything, they later confirmed that I had ruptured & clotted & that was what the pain was so was rushed into theatre. I convinced myself this pregnancy that I would be so sure if this was ectopic as I will never forget the pain I was in. Sorry for the long winded explanation, I felt you should know all the facts. Mild cramping is so normal in early pregnancy as your uterus is expanding & making room for baby so I wouldn’t worry too much about that. If you have severe pain, bleeding, pain in your shoulders, feeling feverish/nauseous/sickness this is all more likely symptoms & you should contact EPAS immediately! Hope this helped xx

whambam89 · 11/02/2020 19:28

Thanks you @bwSB and again I'm so sorry you experienced it! I'm hoping for the best but preparing for the worst I think 😭 it's going to be a long 36 hours until my scan 😫

bwSB · 11/02/2020 19:34

@whambam89 I know it’s so easy to say because every one kept saying it to me & I couldn’t help but feel so worried & scared to get my hopes up, but try to stay positive & as stress free as you can! I’ll send lots of positive vibes your way & let us know how you get on ❤️ We all deserve hope! xx

Glitterchik · 11/02/2020 19:38

I didn't have any symptoms at all my partner and I had intercourse at 6 weeks and I got an excruciating pain straight after the pain eased a little and I fell asleep woke up later went to go to the loo and there was fresh red blood in the bowl and bleeding on wiping it kept stopping and starting went to the hospital was seen at EPU examined and then sent home to wait for a scan had a scan two days later and they told me it was ectopic.

TheMShip · 11/02/2020 19:40

@whambam89 I had an ectopic pregnancy almost 15 years ago, ruptured, lost the tube. My symptoms came on very suddenly. I don't remember anything untoward in the days leading up to the rupture. It began with a deep sharp pain just between the pubic area and hip bone, and I developed classic shoulder tip pain (it's referred pain from the abdominal bleeding I think). I had a complete gut clearout - diarrhea, copious vomiting, and then fainted at the GP's office when they were trying to transfer me to the ambulance. It was unplanned; I hadn't even known I was pregnant, but in retrospect I had had a classically ectopic period, they say it looks like prune juice and is much lighter than normal.

For everyone here pregnant or TTC after an ectopic: I went on to have three further pregnancies and I don't doubt I could have had more if we wanted. DS, now almost 8, was unplanned but we had been talking about TTC so went ahead. A few years later, another unplanned pregnancy ended in a miscarriage at 8 weeks but was in the correct place, and that led us to TTC again. Caught the first month, and DD is almost 4yo. I panicked about ectopic every time, and am so grateful to DH for having the snip a couple of years ago.

TheMShip · 11/02/2020 19:41

Forgot to say, I never bled at all after the surgery.

Glitterchik · 11/02/2020 19:43

I hope your scan goes well, as bwsb says try not to get too stressed I know it's easier said than done though. Sending lots of positivity your way.
