Hey everyone, I found out I'm pregnant on Saturday:) In November last year I had an ectopic pregnancy at 6 weeks and had my right tube removed. Im absolutely terrified that the same is going to happen again. Woken up this morning and I've got a heavy feeling on the left side where my tube is this is scaring the crap out of me. Spoken to the EPU and I've a scan on the 21st Feb but that seems ages away I desperately want this pregnancy to be ok but I'm too scared to let myself get excited.

Thanks everyone - I will let you know the results after my scan on Thursday. It hadn't even crossed my mind until today, but now it's all I can think about

whambam89 · 11/02/2020 19:58

@glitterchik hope your scan goes well too x

@Glitterchik
It's really hard not to see every pain and twinge as a sign of something bad, but your rising HCG levels are a good sign and it sounds as though you're on the ball with getting checked over and monitored. I had an ectopic pregnancy a few years ago resulting in removal of a tube. It took me a while to get pregnant again (I was 44, so it was a bloody miracle!) but everything was fine and I have a 7 year old DS. I do remember, though, having sharp pains and some bleeding and being so worried that it was happening all over again, yet it was grand. I hope all will be well for you - it sounds promising.

@whambam89
I had quite faint pregnancy tests and no pregnancy symptoms, which seemed strange because I had felt lousy from the start with DS1. A few weeks later I got a pain which was so unbearable I couldn't move. It felt more like bowel pain than anything gynae related. It lasted an hour or so then seemed to resolve itself. Then a couple of days later it happened again, only worse. I was freezing cold and sweating. Again, after an hour it subsided and I got up to phone DP, who was at his mum's, and I fainted. I honestly don't know why I didn't go to A&E there and then. I just kept convincing myself that I would be ok. It was 2 days before I went to the maternity unit and said I was worried. I wasn't in any pain by then, but I was given a scan, then admitted as an emergency.

@clinkymonkey sorry to hear about your experience :( I've had quite a few pregnancy symptoms - food aversions, tiredness, nausea and really painful boobs so hopefully that's a good sign 🤞

Hi everyone. Just wanted to follow this thread. I had emergency surgery last week for an ectopic at 5+4 and had to have my left tube removed. It was my first time TTC, so naturally will give me huge anxiety for the future.
Really want to start TTC ASAP but obviously need to give myself time to heal physically and emotionally
I never realised how common ectopic pregnancies were
Xx

@BMWL, I'm really sorry you've been through this. Everything can seem a bit hopeless at the start, but there are so many positive outcomes, including my own. I found the Ectopic Pregnancy Trust forum invaluable when my head was full of grief and doomsday scenarios. We started TTC again a couple of months later. It took 18 months, but I did get pregnant again and had a healthy pregnancy.

Just allow yourself time to grieve and look after yourselfThanks

@BMWL so sorry for your loss Thanks had my ectopic and tube removed in August of last year... all of us here understand how absolutely horrifying it is so sending virtual hugs! Bit of reassuring news found out I was pregnant in January so 4 months after surgery and I'm around 9 weeks 3 days with a healthy baby bumping along in there.. so you can absolutely have a healthy pregnancy after an ectopic they are so common I was surprised to find out how many woman go through ectopics... give yourself time to grieve your loss and recover physically and mentally... and start trying again whenever you are ready... sending you lots of baby dust for the future Thanksxx

@ClinkyMonkey thank you so much for your kind words. I had a look at the forum you suggested and I am finding it very helpful so far xx

@MoStew18 thank you for sharing your story. It gives me hope. You're right, it is such a horrifying and scary experience - I'm still coming to terms with it because it all happened so fast. So happy to hear your pregnancy is going well. Gives me such hope for the future ❤️ xx
