I woke up in the night feeling like I was going to puke and in a cold sweat. Eventually passed but it was HORRIBLE. Still feeling distinctly queasy this morning. I'm having a dry biscuit now...anything else I can nibble on? I really thought I might get away with it, was only saying yesterday I wasn't feeling sick. (I'm 6+1) Last night felt like a stomach upset.

Try eating things little and often like toast, crackers, bits of fruit.
I also bought ginger biscuits and would take them to bed at night and have one before i got up in the morning which helped a bit.

Try lemonade. It works wonders if you sip it
Full fat variety, none of this diet stuff though
Good luck macaca, hope it wears off soon

rich tea fingers were my saviour, and the Bottlegreen ginger and lemongrass cordial (hot or cold) got sugar into me when nothing else could.

If anything crosses your mind that you fancy eating, get hold of it and eat it immediately, even if it means dashing to Tesco, because you don't know when you'll feel like eating again.

3sEnough · 29/08/2007 09:31

Ice cold fizzy tonic water helped - the bubbles helped me burp which seemed to ease it somehow. Just keep eating.

Naetha · 29/08/2007 11:03

Salt and vinegar crisps were my saviour

flightattendant · 29/08/2007 11:04

Milkshake. Keep hydrated, most important thing, it helps loads!

teenyweeny · 29/08/2007 11:25

Dry biscuits, ginger beer, fruit and salty crackers really helped me. Make sure you eat often..I found that if I let myself get too hungry the sickness was worse...good luck

BandofMothers · 29/08/2007 11:41

I used to drink Ginger ale, Ginger good for calming tummy, and munch on ginger biscuits or dry bread, sometimes with cheese. Lived on cheese and pickle sandwuiches when had all day sickness with DD1 for 8 weeks,
Couldn't eat another on e for mths after the sickness passed.

Also, mints. Try sucking a polo or something, refreshing, and peppermint also good for stomach

foxybrown · 29/08/2007 11:50

Treat yourself to some nice ginger cookies. Tescos do some chocolate covered ones which helped me

littledev · 29/08/2007 12:57

Hi, Know exactly how you are feeling, i am 6 weeks today, and said yesterday to my friend that i don't feel sick yet, with ds i was sick from the moment i fell pregnant, until he was born. Then i wake up today, and BAM, its starting. I keep snacking on rich tea biscuits, they seem to do it for me. Good luck.

meandmy · 29/08/2007 13:00

i ate pear drops!

TMI

and things that didnt taste to bad or hurt returned

macaco · 29/08/2007 15:59

Thanks all for your replies. might go and get some ginger biscuits, I'm quite partial to them! Naetha, had a salt and vinegar crisp the other day before the sickness started (normally I like them) and had to spit it out it tasted so disgusting! The keeping hydrated is a good tip, I've been drinking lots of water today and that helps. Luckily I'm not puking, just queasy so I know I've got it relatively easy so far. Just so disappointed....when does it go away if ever?

You can also get ginger tea from the supermarket which is supposed to help (but not as pleasant as eating biscuits!). I had morning sickness with both pregnancies which lasted until about 12 weeks then just disappeared.

Definitely eat as often as you can and whatever you fancy (I had a major craving for cheese biscuits with no 1). Also, have biscuits by the bed to eat before you get up - the only time I really thought I was going to puke was when we were staying in a hotel and I didn't eat until I'd been up for about an hour.

The other thing I tried was the acupressure wrist bands which you can get for travel sickness. Didn't solve the sickness completely but I don't know if it would've been worse without it (although wrist bands could be difficult to explain away if you're trying to keep your pregnancy under wraps!)

Hi

I'm feeling really lousy too. Although my dh has just suggested scrambled egg on toast which seems appealing right now!

Feel sick 95% of day, gone off all fluids except my dd's juice and water. The thought of ANY hot drink just turns my stomach. Having to force myself to drink.

Looking forward to post week 12, only 5 weeks to go (groan!)

macaco · 02/09/2007 14:15

Well I feel as sick as a dog. I haven't been sick yet but I feel like I'm about to puke every waking moment. The last 2 days I've been feeling absolutely exhausted as well. I've been on holiday and have to go back to work tomorrow and I'm not sure how I'm going to cope. The tiredness is almost worse than the sickness. almost.

Thanks spinsugar. That's worth knowing about the water. I think I'm going to try some scrambled eggs on toast now. I'm lucky in that i'm not being sick, just feel soooo rotten. really weepy too, although that's possibly because of the tiredness. I wonder if I'm anaemic too, I have been in the past. Blood test tomorrow should show that up. I'm 7 weeks and my mum said hers passed at about 12 weeks with me so hopefully it'll ease off in a few weeks.

MrsBadger · 02/09/2007 15:07

don't wait for the blood results to discover if you're anaemic - get some iron tabs (or Spatone) asap. Can make a huge difference.

I'm going to ask the gp about iron tomorrow if I can get an appointment after the blood test. Scrambled egg on toast certainly seems to help the nausea(I'm sooooo glad I'm not puking). What's knocked me sideways today and yesterday is the feeling that I want to cry all the time. Already had one weep today. It does make me wonder about anaemia as I've had it in the past and the big signs with me are total exhaustion and wanting to cry all the time. I wish I could get over this and enjoy things a bit more. I honestly feel no joy or excitement at being pregnant at the moment. I just feel awful, which makes me even more weepy.

OP posts:
MrsBadger · 02/09/2007 17:52

really, take the iron anyway - you could avoid a week of unneccesary misery before the gp can see you.

fifihall · 02/09/2007 18:15

Hi
Thanks for your post have just read through it and everyone's helpful tips. I am 6 and half weeks pregnant with my fourth(must find out what's causing it ). Anyway my morning sickness has started with avengence this week. I think it is the biggest con in the world calling it morning sickness because is it all the time!!

Yuk Yuk Yuk

I had totally forgotten how bad it was from the last time. I just feel like I need to eat all the time to get rid of the feeling of nausea which means that I feel like I am piling on the pounds already. (something I vowed I wasn't going to do this time). I must keep remembering that it does eventually go away!

I think I will try some of the drink tips and see if that makes a difference. I have been drinking peppermint tea and that does help a bit. Hope you start to feel better soon.

amidaiwish · 02/09/2007 18:38

have you tried these preggie pops?
nothing really takes away the sickness but these are refreshing and i found them helpful.

Sympathies to all of you suffering. it is hideous, just remember it's a sign of a strong, healthy baby. That's what i used to tell myself as i was throwing up.

honeybee10 · 07/09/2007 17:29

Hi everyone
new to mn. 7 weeks pg with my 3rd and morning sickness has kicked in big time. Feel sick constantly but seems to get worse as the day goes on. Wondering what have I done ?!! Tried ginger biscuits etc but keep having to stop work to run to the loo to throw up. Another one of those things instantly forgotten the minute the baby is born!!!
