No Mothercare where to try before you buy prams!?

Is anyone else finding it hard to find shops that stock prams? With no mothercare all I seem to find is expensive John Lewis choices where you can actually see them in the shop!
Online retailers seem to mainly have iffy returns policy's which I'm not so keen on.
I just want to have a little try before I buy lol!

I’ve been wondering this too! I know there is Mamas and Papas but there’s not one near me unfortunately

John Lewis

Jen306 · 04/01/2020 22:35

Independent baby stores in your area?

MangoM · 04/01/2020 22:42

Smyths Toys usually have a large range of prams in store. We got our travel system from there.

Biancadelrioisback · 04/01/2020 22:47

Boots?
One of our local boots (metrocentre) has prams out on display which you can try

MrsSokhi · 04/01/2020 22:50

I've been recommended to Winstanley pram world not sure if it's a stand alone shop but it's in Wigan I think x

Tiddlertoddler · 04/01/2020 22:59

We also went to a local independent pram store and they were brilliant. Had loads of different brands and showed us how they all folded, which ones were lightweight and let us bring the car around and try them in the boot to make sure they fit before we decide on one. Absolutely amazing. Hopefully something similar around your way OP :)

If you google there are often lots of little independent shops around. I saw mine in a local shop then ordered online from JL

ParkheadParadise · 04/01/2020 23:06

Independent shop.
There is several near me (Glasgow). We ended up getting everything from a lovely independent shop.

lisag1969 · 04/01/2020 23:06

John Lewis can't beat them x

ANiceLuxury · 04/01/2020 23:11

Independent shops.

It’s a baby in Bury Lancashire is very nice

Winstanleys Pram World in Wigan Lancashire is also very good

Chista · 04/01/2020 23:11

Dunelm has teamed up with Kiddicare so you may find some in their stores.

Baby and Toddler shows are great, we tried loads at one and actually bought ours from the show

Also Mum2Mum/Cheeki Monkey/Baby Markets are also a good place to try them out

Blueroses99 · 04/01/2020 23:12

The Baby Show. There were hundreds!

crazymuseummumtobe · 05/01/2020 08:42

Pushchairs and Car Seats (name does what it says on the tin!) in Wallingford, Oxfordshire, if you're down south. Not been but heard good things.

Bluewavescrashing · 05/01/2020 08:44

Just be aware that pushing an empty pram on a smooth, skinny shop floor is different to using one in real life on a bumpy pavement with few drop kerbs, with a baby and heavy changing bag in it.

Gastonimo · 05/01/2020 09:01

The baby show or failing that try a local baby group and ask other mums!

FTMF30 · 05/01/2020 09:02

Kiddicare

mnahmnah · 05/01/2020 09:04

Local independent shops. Impartial advice there too. We have a few by us with a large selection.

Bluewavescrashing · 05/01/2020 09:05

Shiny shop floor not skinny!

mrsed1987 · 05/01/2020 09:07

We got ours from a local independent store. Have a look around

McHelenz · 05/01/2020 09:31

We had our pram from Winstanleys pram world. They have a shop in Stoke and in Wigan.

ReallyRatherBlonde · 05/01/2020 09:34

Baby Planet

Bol87 · 05/01/2020 09:46

We’ve got a local independent called Kiddies Kingdom .. but just a nod to John Lewis, you don’t have to buy from them. I went, tried & looked a fair few, chatted to the shop assistant & said we’d be buying closer to the time for financial reasons. She never pushed a sale. I then went home & bought the pram online for a cheaper price 🤷🏼‍♀️ Which I appreciate is contributing to the death of the high street .. but my budget was what it was!
