No Mothercare where to try before you buy prams!?

Is anyone else finding it hard to find shops that stock prams? With no mothercare all I seem to find is expensive John Lewis choices where you can actually see them in the shop!
Online retailers seem to mainly have iffy returns policy's which I'm not so keen on.
I just want to have a little try before I buy lol!

Another vote for John Lewis we did there one to one baby advice session tried loads of prams and no pressure to buy anything while we were there just talked us through loads of good info.

Also said we could go back anytime and try them in our car.

It’s a baby in Bury is lovely

hiimmumma · 05/01/2020 10:25

Why don't you just try them out in John Lewis then buy online if it's cheaper elsewhere?
Although John Lewis do price match so I don't think I it's anymore expensive anyway. And everything comes with two year guarantee.

John Lewis is amazing. Amazing service- so is mamas and papas.

Em39ma · 05/01/2020 15:00

It in chessington Surrey.

santasbigbum · 05/01/2020 15:19

The silver cross outlet in Idle, Bradford is excellent

LittleFoote · 05/01/2020 15:25

Another vote for winstanleys. Brilliant customer service and loads of choice!

CL1982 · 05/01/2020 15:55

Go for a big John Lewis or a large baby show

rosie561 · 05/01/2020 16:04

@Em39ma is this the A3 Baby barn? I've been hoping to go but we don't have a car yet and I'm not sure how we can get there! Do they have lots of PRS,s you can try out? Sorry to derail OP.

PancakesAndMapleSyrup · 05/01/2020 16:32

An amazing buggy of which I've now had 3 of their brand is MountainBuggy although I've never ever seen them in shops anywhere to try. Best purchase ever, the tyres are pocket and halfords can out some self sealing gunk in them for punctures amazing stuff.

lovelyjubbly12 · 05/01/2020 17:26

Me and my partner found this to be a real pain aswell!! We ended up ordering online from Halfords as you can return to their store if need be. Also a really good deal, isofix base, car seat, carry cot and stroller travel system for £470 all joie. It's lovely and exactly what we needed!

RC1985 · 05/01/2020 18:05

We have just bought a travel system from
smyths today. Shop assistant, really helpful, let us see if it would fit in the boot and help us work out where our isofix points were. We ended up buying a joie one and have a maxi Cosi car seat which has adapters for the frame. We tried Mothercare but nothing left and the staff weren’t helpful (which i don’t blame them tbh). If smyths hadn’t of been useful we would have gone to an independent by us that was recommended.

Em39ma · 05/01/2020 18:05

@rosie561
Yes. It’s really good.you would need to drive it’s on a golf course

PPopsicle · 05/01/2020 18:23

Also Natural Baby Shower is a great shop but only 1 of them so no idea if it’s near you

jadelouiselaird · 06/01/2020 13:34

Agree with the local stores, if your anywhere near burnley, lancashire tangerinni is excellent will be getting my pram from there

Sunshine8920 · 06/01/2020 13:51

@@lovelyjubbly12 thanks for Halfords shout, that's worth a look.
I've been to John Lewis and they only have six on show and way way over our budget.
I'm as south of the uk in West Sussex you can get and I can't even find local pram shops, all we really had was mothercare.
I'm not sure how far away from a smyths we are so I will check that out but I don't think I'm near oneS
@KHall84 I willl have a look for shows I hadn't thought of that but I'm guessing that would be a whole day trip to London which isn't as practical for us.
Thank you everyone for all your help!!!

@Sunshine8290 the Baby Toddler show has a show in the South of England Showground, is that near you?

Sunshine8920 · 06/01/2020 19:55

@Chista I've never heard of it however I've just google and it's and hour and a half away. Might be worth me checking out show dates :-) thank you!

Depending on how close you are to Middlesbrough it's worth a drive to watts pram shop on portrack Lane in Stockton. They don't only sell prams. Literally every pram you can think of!

X

piperk · 06/01/2020 20:17

Ah just read Sussex! Maybe Middlesbrough is a bit far lol

Sunshine8920 · 17/01/2020 20:34

@piperk Lol yes I'm a bit far from everyone's ideas it seems. Will defo try Halfords as at least I have that nearby Smile

John lewis guarantee is great
I got 2 years free with mine
One of the brakes kept jamming. I took it in there and they sent off for repair.. And gave me a courtesy pram in place.
And price matched
Saw in store, they then order. It was there by 12pm the next day.

Won't go elsewhere ow.

lovelyjubbly12 · 19/01/2020 11:17

@Sunshine8920 www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductMobileDisplay?catalogId=10151&langId=-1&categoryId=353103&productId=1527217&storeId=10001

This is the travel system I got from Halfords. It is lovely. I've put it together, tried all parts and put the seat in the car etc. It goes up and down with one hand too. Worth a look at, good price for all of the bits we need! 💕
