Miscarriage after heartbeat?

girlanonymous · 31/12/2019 19:01

Has anyone experienced a miscarriage after seeing the heartbeat.

Booked an early scan privately at 7 weeks and saw a strong heartbeat.

Just want honest answers. Don't worry about scaring me.

Yes, my last pregnancy. There were two strong hearts at 7 weeks but one measured smaller then the other. At 10 weeks there was only one baby.

Astella22 · 31/12/2019 20:11

Yes heartbeat at 7.5 weeks and heartbeat stopped at about 10.5 weeks, it was diagnosed at my 12 week scan. I was devastated

PenguNoodle · 31/12/2019 20:13

7 week scan showed a heart beat though it was very faint. Measurements were also lower than expected. I went back 10 days later for a scan and the heart beat had stopped.

Good luck, hope it works out for you

Yes, saw a heartbeat at 6 then 7 weeks. At my 9wk scan it had stopped growing at 7+4. It does happen but I'm not sure how common it is.

Yoohoo16 · 31/12/2019 20:17

Yes heartbeat at 7 weeks. Miscarried on Boxing Day at 11+3.

TwinkleStars15 · 31/12/2019 20:18

Yes, saw heartbeat at 8 weeks and found out it had stopped at 10-11 weeks at my dating scan.

TonOfLead · 31/12/2019 20:21

Yes. Twins. Two heartbeats at 8 weeks. Only one baby at the 12 week scan.

Oneforposy7 · 31/12/2019 20:21

Yes. Heartbeat at 7+2. Everything looked perfect. Started to miscarry that day.

duvetfan · 31/12/2019 20:24

Yes twice I had a scan showing a heartbeat at 7 weeks and lost both but I did go on after each mc to have a baby. So sorry you are going through this.

LouH1981 · 31/12/2019 20:48

Yes, I saw a heartbeat at 9 weeks and miscarried at 11. However, looking back there were other warning signs - foetus was measuring two weeks behind and I’d had pain.
Try to stay positive because the statistics are in your favour 🤞🏻

Yes. Started bleeding at 6 weeks had a scan a few days later and saw a heartbeat. Continued to bleed heavily for the next week and a half and had a private scan that couldn't find anything at all. This was then confirmed at EPU. Bleeding stopped shortly after private scan.

Me sadly. Saw a heartbeat at 7 weeks and baby died at around 9+2. Testing of the fetus afterwards showed it was because of T21.

GreenDill · 01/01/2020 00:54

Me sadly. Saw heartbeat at 6 weeks and at 8 weeks. Went for a scan at 11 weeks and the heartbeat had stopped at 8+1. We were able to get tests done on the babies dna and that showed up as turners though! Midwife said when a heartbeat is seen the rate of miscarriage drops significantly, however most babies who’s heartbeats are seen and then stop are due to chromosomal abnormalities. Not sure if she said this to help how I was feeling as I’ve had a fair few miscarriages or if there’s much truth to it though

RachelGreensThanksgivingTrifle · 01/01/2020 01:00

Yes. Some bleeding at 8 weeks, twins both with strong heartbeats. At 12 week scan found I'd miscarried twin 2 at 11 weeks, twin 1 DS made it through and is now a happy healthy 9 month old. I wish you all the best.

bearfood · 01/01/2020 01:03

If this makes you feel any better at all, my dd had a scan at 7 weeks and was told baby was 5 weeks and a couple of days, but heartbeat was visible. She was convinced she would miscarry as she was very sure of her dates but her (big at birth) son is 6 months old.

walkingthedogs · 01/01/2020 01:05

Yes unfortunately twice (only fell pregnant twice and too old now to fall again) first was at about 9 weeks but then had a missed miscarriage at about 12 weeks and second was strong at 8 weeks but another missed miscarriage at 10 weeks.

HappyAsASandboy · 01/01/2020 01:16

Yes, me too. Heartbeat at 6.5 weeks and then no heartbeat by 9 weeks. Really hard, as most books/online advice says it's rare to lose after a heartbeat is seen. I wonder whether those resources were written when early scans were less common, so not many saw a heartbeat before a loss.

MindyStClaire · 01/01/2020 01:36

According to the miscarriage association:

Research amongst women with a history of recurrent miscarriage has shown that those who saw a heartbeat at 6 weeks of pregnancy had a 78% chance of the pregnancy continuing. It also showed that seeing a heartbeat at 8 weeks increased the chance of a continuing pregnancy to 98% and at 10 weeks that went up to 99.4%.

Thanks all for the honesty. At 49 years old, and prior miscarriages will be assisted by a consultant and on hormones

Have everything crossed for you @girlanonymous hopefully things will be different with the added intervention. It’s a good start so far 😊

Queenofheartsnomore · 01/01/2020 07:22

Yes. Saw baby and strong heartbeat at 7.3, miscarried the day of my 12week scan. Baby was measuring. 8.4. Fingers crossed for you!

MyOtherProfile · 01/01/2020 07:24

All the best to you. How many weeks are you now?

SunshineCrocodile · 01/01/2020 08:19

I've had three miscarriages after a heartbeat at 8+ weeks. I also have healthy DC. There was no obvious difference in the scans or heart rates between the babies that survived and those that didn't.

Wishing you all the best with your pregnancy.

Chanel05 · 01/01/2020 08:35

Yes, I'm afraid so. I'd seen a heartbeat at a scan and then at another scan the baby no longer had a heartbeat.

widgetbeana · 01/01/2020 08:55

I'm sorry to say yes. I had a heartbeat at 11w+1 but lost at 11w+6. I'm so sorry that you are having to ask this and I pray that you will have a good result.
