Ah - see what I did there? [wink}
Hope it's ok to start a new thread. Computer couldn't cope with the old one.

Ok here, but am on operation not-go-mad today as have been feeling pretty down. Friend over this morning and will waddle into town this afternoon. This will render me exhausted and will then sleep/graze until bedtime.
Have also watched far too many baby progs on Discovery Health. Have become an armchair expert in giving birth ("ooh, you don't want to do that love"). Will get my come uppance soon enough!!!! Eek!!

Just seen midwife, i'm also not engaged - i'll join florence's club! I'm booked for the late date clinic on Tues and will probably be offered induction next weekend.
Going for a lie down DD has been up since 1.30 this morning and my sister currently has them both glued to Nemo downstairs so I plan to take advantage!

Bibiboo · 08/10/2004 15:27

Sory to hear about your wobbles Toots, but I am sure they are perfectly normal at this stage and to be posting on Mumsnet shows you are doing wonderfully
When your rellies ring up to ask how db is doing, hint MASSIVELY that you'd like to see them and it would ben even better if they were to bring you various cakes/confectionery to keep your strength up. Also make lots of comments about how your stitches hurt on they way to the kettle and you should get your tea made as well ... chin up, you've done it!! You are the of all of us heavily pg meece waiting to burst.
{{BIG HUGS}}

Bibiboo · 08/10/2004 15:28

Also, you never told us what you named the db..?

beansprout · 08/10/2004 15:29

Geogteach and Flo - sorry to hear your dbs are still just acting casual instead of getting themselves into place. Hope it's just that 2nd/3rd baby thing and that it doesn't mean you have to wait too long.

Toots - so sorry your bubble has burst. I seem to remember being told that a million things happen on day 3 that make it very hard. I hope it passes for you soon. Here's a huge hug and my nicely chilled Mars bar in the meantime. xxx

Bean has got bored with hide & seek and now seems to be playing rounders or something. Ouch!

Distracted · 08/10/2004 16:01

Thanks all for your kind comments - feeling better now having just consumed huge strawberry tart

Toots - so sorry you're feeling down today. Isn't it usually the day your milk comes in when your hormones plummet and you feel terrible (good timing on top of that lovely feeling of engorgement and sore nipples). Hope you can get lots of rest and support today.

Beansprout - LOL at bean playing rounders - know what you mean.

I was just having another look at the list of dates and there are 9 of us that are/were due by tomorrow and then a gap of nearly a week, so think the next week is going to be an active one

Turtle35 · 08/10/2004 16:11

Can't believe I am last on the list it's just dawned on me that I might have to join the November thread if my DB acts the same as the rest of the Oct DB's (except for Toots of course). Why are they so stubborn??notice the last four letters of the word stubborn.......

Toots take it easy my dear, you just gave birth remember..

cazzybabs · 08/10/2004 16:27

Just to let you know I had a little girl (grace) yesterday at 9.47 after going into labour at 10pm the previous night. Had a fantasic waterbirth, although I got stuck at about 9cm dilated and wanted an epidural and to go to sleep, but due to dp and midwife managed to get back in the pool and get on with it. No stiching or anything nasty. DD2 is lovely and is crying - better get back and feed her.

beansprout · 08/10/2004 16:40

Congratulations Cazzybabs - that's fantastic!! And welcome to Grace too! Hope you are all well.

Another lovely birth too - much appreciated by us meece-in-waiting!!

Oooh, that's really cheered me up!!

Distracted · 08/10/2004 17:23

That's fantastic Cazzybabs, congratulations , have been wondering how you were doing. Nice to hear another positive birth story too.

Turtle35 · 08/10/2004 17:35

Well done Cazzybabs, we had a sneaky suspicion Welcome to Grace, beautiful name. Take care a look forward to hearing the full story, sounds great though.

huppa · 08/10/2004 17:48

Fantastic news cazzybabs .
Welcome to Grace.
Just the inspiring news we all need at the moment.

piglit · 08/10/2004 18:16

Brilliant news Cazzybabs

Toots · 08/10/2004 19:57

hoo-ha, bing-bong, bring it on Cazzybabs! Welcome baby Grace.

That sounds very civilised.

(Perhaps Grace would like to share her birth story with ..... Melissa (Mel) some time

oooooh, another tip for ist timers with heartburn, it takes a couple of days to go so take supplies into hosp if you don't want their stingy disapproving measures.

Cazzybab - I've started the oct 04 babies thread on parenting. pop in and pull up a cushioned pew.

florenceuk · 08/10/2004 20:27

Congrats Cazzybab - sounds like a great birth experience. I love the name!

Bibiboo - wondered where you were!

beansprout · 09/10/2004 13:06

Thinking of you Distracted - hope it's all going ok for you today.

Toots - lovely name for DD2

Feeling very uncomfortable today. Usually feel this bad by the evenings but hey, it's the weekend so am starting early....
How's everyone else?

OP posts:
nailpolish · 09/10/2004 14:11

hello everyone! is it ok if i join your thread? im new to mumsnet and delighted to see there are lots of other preggie ladies here in the same boat as me. my due date is 16th oct!!! (just realised its a week today) has everyone packed their bag for the hospital?

eyelash · 09/10/2004 14:20

Just popping in to say am thinking of you all. Distracted must either be in labour or will have had her baby by now.

Can I add some tips - do not be tempted to ask the midwife how long it will take when you are in labour. Did this with ds1 and was very disappointed when time came and went. Each labour is different and will progress at its own rate regardless of what anybody says.

It keeps being said but stay upright for as long as you can in labour, or even better take advantage of the hospital's birthing bath if you can. It makes a fantastic difference.

Arnica tablets are fantastic for healing tears and bruising afterwards and is supposed to be helpful in labour as well. I took some in this labour and for the last four days - brilliant.

If you have a tear and stitches - when you wee pour a jug of water over your vagina so it doesn't sting then use hairdryer to dry yourself off properly afterwards - it speeds up the healing process.

Esp for first timers - I found the best way to minimise leaks from bleeding afterwards was to use two maternity pads side by side slightly overlapped on my knickers.

Hope you all have a restful weekend.

piglit · 09/10/2004 15:41

Hope everyone is well today. Nothing to report here - having a very lazy weekend so far and it's bliss! I even managed 8 hours sleep last night.

Welcome on board nailpolish!

huppa · 09/10/2004 16:34

Welcome nailpolish. Are you a first timer? You´ll get lots of support from everyone here.

Eyelash - thanks for the tips. Hadn´t thought of using arnica, but think I´ll now go out and get some.

Nothing to report here. If db arrived as early as dd I´d be giving birth tomorrow, but just don´t feel like it´s going to happen this time round.
Hope everything went well for distracted.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Toots · 09/10/2004 19:01

Just dropping by to wish everyone a good night's kip.

geogteach · 09/10/2004 19:35

Just to say i'm still here - in case you were wondering!

beansprout · 10/10/2004 12:34

Hi everyone. Had a miserable old day yesterday but feeling better today. Went to a friend's engagement dinner last night and they were so pleased we could make it (as naturally we had assumed that Bean might have broken cover by now) that we were asked to sit at the top table. Felt like a right royal moose for the evening. Lovely!

Harman - how's the new house?!
Distracted - I hope you have db with you by now and that s/he is beautiful.

Turtle35 · 10/10/2004 12:54

Hi fellow Mooses!! Bean well done you on being so social -

Piglit so much sleep - bliss, your body must be gearing up for something.....

Toots I really like the name Mel/Melissa

Geoteach it will happens soon I am sure

Distracted I am so anxious/excited for you, I hope the induction went as well as these things can and you are resting with DB at the moment, we look so forward to hearing your news.

I thought I could go out shopping and do all the things normal people do on a Saturday like a spot of lunch and some shopping for nursing bras (Yuck to the highest order) etc, well the day was dedicated to finding toilets, I burst into tears at one stage cause I was so annoyed that I had so much I wanted to get done but wasn't getting anywhere. I did manage some Jo Malone Lavender and Amber bath oil which sends me into such a relaxed state and plan to rely on this during first stages of labour

Anyway I now have really sore throat today and will take it easy and do nothing. Hope everyone else is feeling well and bring on the babies!! Oh it's just getting so exciting!!

geogteach · 10/10/2004 17:13

Still here, friend bought a cot round this afternoon, not that i'm leaving things to the last minute or anything! Went to the supermarket to buy a newspaper and spent my time trying to dodge people I knew, so I could avoid the haven't had it yet then comments, I think most of the people I know must have been out this afternoon because I spoke to 3 and succeeded in avoiding a few more. So far only 3 phone calls today. Do I sound like an antisocial old cow or what?
