Hi all
Only been TTC for one cycle. My period is due in a few days. For the past 5 days I’ve had a constant urge to wee! I go and then it’s like I need to go again. Docs have ruled out a UTI and say there’s no infection. Has anyone ever had this in week 3-4 of pregnancy. I’m waking up 2-3 times a night and constantly going all day

Thanks!

Take a test - it's the only way to know for sure! Use a pink die one like First Response (FR). Good luck!

RealMermaid · 15/12/2019 11:42

Are you drinking more than usual? There's lots of conditions that can cause an increase in weeing - diabetes or a pituitary condition for instance. I'd go back to the docs and ask to be checked out more thoroughly.

TheHootiestChristmasOwl · 15/12/2019 11:50

If your period is almost due then take a test. It’s easy to over think symptoms.

Sunny866 · 15/12/2019 11:58

No I’m drinking the same amount of water. I don’t drink anything after 7pm to stop the urge but it doesn’t make a difference. I’ve had this before but it was a UTI. This time it’s different as it’s a 24/7 urge. My doctor is so useless he just told me to relax! If it doesn’t improve in the next few days and a test is negative I’ll have to go back

Lol he already knows. We can’t have sex due to the constant peeing urge!

Sometimes utis are missed so it possibly still could be that. As others have said wait till you have a missed period then retest if you want to rule out pregnancy or see if it's pregnancy. Could be lots of reasons for it unfortunately. X

Oops sorry I posted that on the wrong thread @Sunny866 Grin

samjacklogi88 · 15/12/2019 15:28

Yes I had this after trying for 3 months and I was
Pregnant but at first got negative result I'm now almost 8 weeks

Sunny866 · 15/12/2019 16:04

Samjacklogic88 congrats! Did you eventually stop peeing or having the urge to pee? Was it a 24/7? Been experimenting today and only had one cup of tea in the morning but still been peeing all day. I’m not restricting fluids just thought I’d see what would happen if I didn’t have any and it didn’t make a difference 🤦🏽‍♀️

You’ll just have to wait to take another test. But really, it could be a symptom of lots of things - I would get checked out again. I don’t think it is really that normal to need a wee that much just because you’re 2 or 3 weeks pregnant. I don’t remember needing to wee that much more in the first few weeks - it’s usually later when the uterus puts more pressure on your bladder.

Pinkblueberry · 15/12/2019 16:16

And not even being able to have sex because the urge is that constant and urgent doesn’t seem right at all. Even if you do turn out to be pregnant I would still see a gp again about it because it’s probably a seperate symptom of something else.

Sunny866 · 15/12/2019 16:25

Yes it’s not right at all. I’ve had a UTI before and it wasn’t this constant. This time I go for a wee and as soon as I stand up the pressure is there on my bladder again. But it’s like nothing more comes out if I try. As if there’s a blockage there or something. I will definitely be seeing the doctor again as soon as I can get an appointment

Coming off the pill and getting my period back. My period made me want to pee loads prob due to bloating. Definitely wasn't pregnant then.

But anyway. The only way you'll know is to take a test. That's the only way. I'm not a psychic so i can't tell you.

TTC can drive you crazy but there's no point asking people here if you're pregnant. Wait till your period is due and then test. If it is negative but period didn't turn up, test again after a couple of days.

If you're continuing this need to pee go back to doctors.

When i first got preggers my need to pee only increased by the time i was about 6-8 weeks and now I'm 40 weeks it's worse than ever!

MrsCl19 · 15/12/2019 18:21

With dd I didn't have the urge to wee all the time till I was at least 30 weeks... I do think when your ttc we get a bit excited and make symptoms happen ....

Do you know when your af is due l? have you taken a test?

Sunny866 · 15/12/2019 19:10

My period is due anytime between now and Wednesday. I’ve always been between 28-31 day cycle. The pain in my pelvic area and bladder is getting worse today so I’m going to make another doctors appointment and if they don’t do anything for me I’ll have to change doctors. I’ll do a test as soon as I’m a few days overdue.

I don't know for everyone but peeing was never an early symptom of pregnancy for me before you've been past your expected period due date. I would say a uti is more probable. When the infection gets worse the urge to pee becomes more constant even if you've just been to the toilet. I'd call 111 for medical advice because a serious uti can lead to kidney infection which can be bad. Hope you get the help you need and feel better soon.

Pegase · 15/12/2019 20:33

Disagree with some of the above- for me needing to pee all the time is one of the very first signs of pregnancy. Way before morning sickness.

Sunny866 · 15/12/2019 23:34

I forgot to mention before that my doctor sent of my sample to the lab for testing. He said he will call me tomorrow or Tuesday if there is anything wrong with the result. (Doubt he will call!) I’ll follow it up if I don’t hear anything. I’m still peeing a lot and have the constant urge all day. Not looking forward to tonight’s sleep 😭

Alderaan · 16/12/2019 06:54

UTIs don't always show up on the dip stick, hence the GP sending it off to the lab for analysis.

If you have a suspected UTI you should be increasing your fluid intake rather than restricting it- you can often flush it through and avoid the need for antibiotics.

Changing your GP because of this is a bit dramatic, isn't it? Loads of conditions can cause this symptom - having to get uo for a wee a couple of times a night is hardly a life or death situation.

Why don't you just do a pregnancy test? If it's negative, repeat after your period is due. If you are pregnant, you'll have to get used to niggling symptoms liks this and much much worse!

MiniGuinness · 16/12/2019 06:56

It was always the first sign with me every time. It calms down pretty quickly, but yes it is definitely a possibility.

Sunny866 · 16/12/2019 07:05

@Alderaan I only restricted my intake for the morning to see if pee still came out when I needed to go. I was back on the fluids after this.
It’s not so much the having to get up to pee, it’s more the constant pressure on my bladder and the need to go that stops me from sleeping properly.
I’ll definitely be doing a test if my due date has passed

Update - I called the receptionist and the result came back this morning as normal. Strange as I am still frequently peeing but now I have backache along with it too. I think this might just be signs of the period coming. If I did a pregnancy test today - 2 days before due date would it be accurate?

OP posts:
MrsCl19 · 16/12/2019 14:56

@Sunny866 yes I'd say so, especially if you get a first response early response:)

Sunny866 · 20/12/2019 09:11

Update:
Hi all. I did a test this morning and I am pregnant! I guess that explains all the peeing! Thanks to you all for responding to me
