Loosing mucus plug, how long until your labour... Experiences welcome

Hello ladies,

Had a successful membrane sweep Monday, I am now on day 3 of loosing my mucus plug (all of which has been bloody sorry tmi) I had a slight headache yesterday and again today which is rare for me. So im at that frustrating point where im wondering is labour on its way or have I another long week or more to go 🙄

I know no-one can answer when my labour will begin so I guess what im asking is for other ladies experiences. With dc1 I think it was a week after loosing plug before labour properly began but it wasnt as much as im loosing this time and came away in one bit, not over 3 days and things feel very different this time.

Would love to hear others experiences and also how long was it in between for you?

I never remember loosing mine with previous 2 pregnancy's never seen it so not sure when I lost it I persume once I was actually in labour... Go for some long walks/bounce on a ball if you have one hopefully speed it up for you x

bobble53 · 04/12/2019 13:21

I lost mine a week ago on Sunday, due today, still no sign of baby :(

Sleepycat91 · 04/12/2019 13:25

I lost mine on the 26th nov about 9pm and waters started leaking just after midnight on the 28th and i had my DD at 6pm. I had been getting BH for over a week and they got stronger x

AutumnGlitterBall · 04/12/2019 13:30

About two hours before labour started each time. Waters broke a couple of hours after contractions started.

Andersonx3 · 04/12/2019 13:31

5 days from losing plug to delivery!

CointreauVersial · 04/12/2019 13:32

I don't think I lost mine until I was in the delivery suite, in full-blown labour. Ditto waters breaking.

CointreauVersial · 04/12/2019 13:33

(this was for all three pregnancies)

bigglewig · 04/12/2019 13:33

Exciting! Mine was about 3-4 days! Good luck. Smile

resipsa · 04/12/2019 13:34

I lost mine at 5am, waters broke at 7am, contractions started about 11am, DD born at 6pm. Good luck!

WillowySnicket · 04/12/2019 13:36

First time, about 3 hours before delivery.

Second plus times about 2 weeks!

Candystar18 · 04/12/2019 20:36

So jealous of you ladies who delivered so quickly after loosing plug! Hoping there isnt too much longer for me to wait then!

@bobble53 Sorry to hear that, you must be so done with things now! Hopefully not much longer for you too!

I lost mine on Christmas Eve, my daughter was born Christmas Day

DramaAlpaca · 04/12/2019 20:39

With DC1 I lost mine in the early stages of labour, about 12 hours before I had him.

I don't remember losing the plug with my next two.

MerryDeath · 04/12/2019 20:49

a couple of hours if even that!

GinUnicorn · 04/12/2019 20:51

About 5 days. Good luck Flowers

Ibizababyy · 04/12/2019 20:53

Lost mine at 37+1 in one go- it plopped into the loo Crown Blush and baby arrived 37+4

Merename · 04/12/2019 20:55

Both of mine were within hours too - I actually thought that was a pretty sure sign, but obviously not for some of you!! How exciting for you, all the best.

Candystar18 · 05/12/2019 07:59

Had such a bad nights sleep with tightenings all through the night, thought for sure this was it but no, more plug this morning and now nothing... its like my body keeps trying to start but just cant, I dont think I could cope with another night like that especially with a crazy todler to look after the next day 😴 lol.

Us poor ladies have such a hard time at the end dont we

Oh sorry it’s hanging over you like this. Or maybe some progress now? Have you a sense of baby’s position? Maybe your feeling of your body trying to start is trying to get babe moved around a few degrees or something.

ItWentInMyEye · 05/12/2019 22:56

Get on the birthing ball! I lost mine, spent almost a full day on the ball and when I stood up my waters broke

Ilovethekitties · 05/12/2019 23:04

I lost mine a week ago and nothing is happening. I spend my days bouncing on my ball and chasing my DP around for sex to try and get things going!

MerryDeath · 06/12/2019 11:16

@ItWentInMyEye 🤣 apt advice and username.

i will pick a convenient day and get rocking and rolling.

MerryDeath · 06/12/2019 11:20

actually the day DS arrived i had spent a considerable amount of time on all fours as midwife had advised this to get him into position. he was a week early. my mucus plug was very small and nondescript i could easily have missed it.

i got excited and thought i passed mine last night but i think it was just particularly delightful pregnancy discharge as i am yet to be in labour.

Candystar18 · 07/12/2019 08:51

Sorry I am just seeing replies now...

@merename no progress 😕 Yes I know what you mean, baby's head was engaged at sweep last Monday, have another one this Monday so have resigned myself to the fact that I just need to wait until at least then.

@ItWentInMyEye yes I have been bouncing too, lots of walking etc, only sitting at right angles instead of leaning back which is not very comfortable lol.
I think baby must be stuck and is needing removed with a plunger at this point. 😂

@ilovethekitties and @Merrydeath

Sorry you are both still waiting too!
Will you book in for a sweep or any other plans to move things along?

Same happened to me this morning @Merrydeath I felt something and ran too loo a little excited , was just lots of discharge.

@kitties lol. Im sure your dp isnt protesting too much at being chased, although at this point I feel like its like a game of trying to rescue a beached whale 😁
