Can my dates be that wrong?

Went for an early scan today. According to my dates, I am 7 wks 4 days. Scan showed the sac and an embryo but no heartbeat and measuring at less than 6 weeks. Anyone please shed positive light on this and people who have been in similar situations but go on to have healthy happy babies?

I can't have another scan for 2 weeks. It's going to be the longest two weeks of our lives! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!!

I persume your dates of 7wk4days is from your last period? If this is the case ovulation could of taken place later as its not always standard when it happens.. Also don't forget they add on two weeks for lmp even though we ain't technically pregnant for 2 weeks so it could be about rite x

Also wanted to add... I was technically 14 weeks when I went for my dating scan from lmp but I wasn't I was only 9 weeks

I went for an early scan too due to light bleeding, I should have been 10+5 weeks from LMP but when she scanned she only saw the gestation and yolk sac but no embryo, she asked me if my date was right which it was as I wrote everything down (although I had irregular cycles for the 3 months we were TTC) and said to come back in a week. So I went back in a week and she could see a fetal pole measuring at 6+5 (from my LMP I should have been 11+5 pregnant at this point) the gestational sac hadn’t grown in the week though so was still measuring at 21mm. I’m now waiting to go back for another scan on Tuesday to see if there is a heartbeat. I’m so nervous I’m going to miscarry in the week and I’ve been off work since the first scan as I was an emotional wreck.

@VCP88VCP88 I have done a lot of reading up about it in the last 2 weeks and as happened with myself, the fetal pole isn’t always visible at first so fingers crossed you will see that at your next scan and a heartbeat too

In response to the dates being so out I am really confused with mine too, I know I didn’t ovulate until 3 weeks into my cycle so that accounts for a weeks difference but the rest I’m not sure. I did read it can take 9 days for the egg to travel down the tube and implant as well but who knows 🤷🏼‍♀️🤪

@VCP88 sorry I got confused writing that, you saw the fetal pole didn’t you, fingers crossed there is a heartbeat next, it is really early days and I have read lots about people in the same situation that went on to have healthy babies. It’s awful waiting though 😫 x

Thanks ladies for both your advice! Since writing this, the EPU have offered to scan me next week which I am so happy about! Only 1 week of worry as opposed to 2!

I've got it on Thursday. That's a positive sign! I'm still getting loads of pain and cramp when I do any form of exercise. 🙁

I feel your pain. I had an early scan yesterday (thought I was 6 weeks/ weeks 1 day) but the sonographer said my scan was inconclusive. They could see the gestational sac measuring 5.5mm and the yolk sac was present but no embyo. They told us there is nothing to worry about at this stage but how is that possible? Have to rescan in two weeks and I have no clue how I am going to get through the next couple of weeks!

@overanalyser1 that is definitely possible that they can't see the fetus at that stage, in a week you could see one when you go back 😊 The wait is awful though I really feel for you. I have read lots of threads on here where the fetal pole wasn't seen and at the follow up scan it was.

@VCP88 Unfortunately for me things have come to a head today and I am definitely miscarrying. Strangely I feel much better than over the past 2 weeks when I haven't had a clue what's going on. I always thought a miscarriage would be over quickly in a day (probably what I've seen on TV 🙈) Tomorrow I will still go to my appointment for confirmation and advice etc. I've got my fingers crossed for you 🤞🏻

@babysunshine I am so sorry to hear you are going through that but I am happy to hear that you feel better than you have. I think the waiting is absolutely the worst part. Once you know where you stand you can deal with it. I hope you will be okay!

By my dates I was 11 weeks when I had a scan that showed I was 5 weeks! (Very irregular periods so wasn’t a surprise as I didn’t get a BFP until the week before the scan).

When did you get a BFP?

My dates were the same timescale as yours. But when I thought about it, I knew I had ovulated over a week or more after the 'normal' cycle of 2 weeks in. Plus sperm can last 5 days and an egg 2. Then I read that the egg can take 9 days to travel down the tube and implant so it was possible at a stretch.

So sorry to hear this @babysunshine sounds like mentally you're doing so well. You're so strong! I'm still freaking out about Thursday 🙁

Had scan last Tuesday (at 8+2), the sonographer said my baby's 7+5, which corresponds with my Ovusense chart (which I was aware that I actually ovulated late) and that's correct.
