My youngest is 9 months old and I'm roughly 5 weeks pregnant, this will be my 5th. 7yo 6yo 5yo 9mo. 😂 Take each day as it comes. And cherish every moment. I didn't think it was a struggle have babies close together, only thing I will say is your elder baby will want to share with the little baby (be careful of small objects) so have eyes everywhere. This is from a recent thing that happens to me my youngest son wanted to share smarties with his baby sister! I could of cried but she was fine spat it out. X

troppibambini · 22/11/2019 12:11

I had a 13 week old baby when I found out I was pregnant again.
I also had a 3 year old and a 9 year old.
The first year was a whirlwind, don't try and be super mum and take each day as it comes.
Although I know they're not for everyone toddler groups were my godsend. Bigger two could play/crawl round and someone usually wanted to cuddle the baby which meant I got a hot cup of coffee.

If you can afford a cleaner best thing ever. Accept any offers of help from friends and family but you will be fine and hopefully their bond will be as strong as my youngest two.

Congratulations ThanksThanks

Can I ask you both did having babies so close together affect your labour at all? Did you have a normal delivery? @Babydazie wow you sound like super mum you must have your hands full. Mind you I hear the kids can keep each other entertained. @troppibambini I totally understand the baby group thing, I managed to get a few baby free moments because someone always wants to cuddle the baby!

I was very lucky with all my labours I had very straight forwards births with no stitches. I was up and about and feeling pretty normal very quickly I did the quickest discharges I could!
Dc3 was a huge baby 10lb8 who was a very straight forward birth although his size shocked me and the midwife. I had bad after pains because of the size of him.
Labour with dc4 was good pretty quick although his heart rate dropped so he ended up being ventouse just to get him out safely and quickly. He was a normal 8lb10.
He was born at 8.30 I was home in time for lunch.

Workaholic2mum · 22/11/2019 19:26

You don't mess about do you! And 10lbs I am shocked. My DS was 5.2 lbs and normal delivery (42minutes!) born at 37 weeks. So I'm really worried about having an abnormal delivery or csec. I have had friends who have had csec and been basically bedbound for the first week. Labor is scary Shock

Fingers crossed that everything is straight forward for you, at the end of the day whatever happens you will manage!!

Babydazie · 22/11/2019 20:21

I also had straight forward births, no stitches ect. Both my boys were 7lbs 12 oz both 6 hours start to finish labour
And my eldest girl was born prem at 28 weeks unexplained..
And my 9 month old was 6lbs 12 oz again with a 6 hour start to finish Labour.
I do have my hands full and I love it. My eldest loves having a baby sister and keeps asking for a baby brother now..! And I'm most definitely not a super mum I just go with the flow and never make plans as it never happens lol. Xx

GinGeum · 22/11/2019 20:22

Can't comment on delivery/life with two babies yet as I'm still pregnant Grin but just coming on in solidarity. I had a 4 month old when I got pregnant this time, there will be just over a year between my two Smile

Workaholic2mum · 22/11/2019 20:34

@GinGeum so like Irish twins? How adorable!! You're right @troppibambini you do just end up managing and powering through. I'm so excited 😁 I'm just worried about notifying work, as I'm still on maternity leave until January and I'm approximately 4 weeks pregnant so by January I'll be 11 weeks. I suppose you don't really mention anything until over 12 weeks....

Congrats and good luck!!

Elmo311 · 22/11/2019 20:45

My two are 10.5 months apart! It's never ending but cute! Good luck you'll be fine :)

Babydazie · 22/11/2019 22:06

@physicskate my sex life after 4 kids is little and often Wink and on a weekend when I have them all running about is a no sex policy lol but during the week when their at school we try to make the most of it well that if our dd let's us lol. GrinGrinHalo

Workaholic2mum · 22/11/2019 22:08

@physicskate you've just got to go for what you want when you can in your own time. Never push yourself if you're not ready. @Elmo311 gosh! That's the smallest gap I've ever known. I suppose you do what you can, housework can wait, enjoy the cuddles ♥️

It would have been 11 months but my 2nd came early. :) it's actually not too bad, I've got them both in a routine so I get a 2.5 hour break midday to do any cleaning/ eating/ relaxing etc!
I met someone on the weekend who has the same age gap between her and her brother, she said she loved it growing up and they are really close now. Hoping my two will be the same !

I get a lot of "you're not having anymore are you?!" Which annoys me as it's none of their business! Makes me want to lie and say I'm pregnant again just to see their faces! :)

The cuddles are great though :) x

Workaholic2mum · 23/11/2019 07:34

I hope people have you're best interests at heart but I also don't like comments like that. To be honest it's no one's business when you have a baby, apart from yours and your DH. Me and my brother are 18 no the apart, we were always close growing up and we loved it! My prediction is my two will be 16 months apart. I just wanted to make a family and people always said "wait 2 or 3 years before having another" but I don't want to wait.

OP posts:
Lilonetwo · 23/11/2019 07:52

Mine are 16m apart
19 months and nearly 3 years now.
The first 6 months I found a breeze. As the newborn slept very well during the day, so I had lots of time with the toddler!

However, the easy newborn became a monster toddler, so the last 6 months I have found really tough and a bit of a shock.

It's lovely though when they play together. The eldest says he misses the youngest when he isn't around

Ihatethecommoncold · 23/11/2019 11:12

I’m in a similar position.

DD is almost 9 months and I’m 14 weeks pregnant. I went back to work when DD was 7.5 months so came back to work pregnant. Not telling work until I have to!

sauchiehall · 23/11/2019 11:19

I have 18 months between mine. It is hard work (but I think my older DD would have been hard work on her own anyway!) I do love watching them together now, my youngest just wants to do everything her big sister does.

Workaholic2mum · 23/11/2019 11:42

I know I've asked this already but new posters did you have normal delivery after having babies close together?

OP posts:
sauchiehall · 23/11/2019 11:57

I had straightforward labour/deliveries with both. My second labour was shorter than the first and I had a water birth which I had wanted first time round but hadn't had.

Tinkerbell19 · 23/11/2019 13:28

I'm 8 weeks pregnant and my youngest is 7 months, was wondering the same as you OP about delivery so soon

coldfeetallthetime · 23/11/2019 13:30

10000% the best way to do it! Well done and congratulations.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 23/11/2019 13:41

There are 7 months between sil children as she caught on fast after 1st dd and dd2 was 3 months prem. They are very close which is lovely to see

Workaholic2mum · 12/12/2019 16:18

The thought of having children close together in the hope that they are close is so lovely, they can grow up with each other and like you say it's lovely to see.
Slight change in subject... Anyone have any remedies or tips for the horrible horrible morning sickness all day and all night... I'm feeling absolutely awful. And it pains me to feel this way
