Has anyone had red bleeding and baby been fine?

I’ve had some bright red bleeding but not enough to need a pad and it has since stopped.
I tried to get EPU or GP appointment but haven’t been able to.

My head tells me not to worry as I’ve had no pain and the bleeding wasn’t much.

But everything I read about bleeding is that if it’s red it’s bad

I bled at 6 weeks with my 1st and was told i have a uterine abnormality. He was fine, born a bit prem but okay xx

Nanmumandmidwife · 22/10/2019 09:03

Many people do have bleeding (bright red) and their pregnancy continues normally. Have you got any pain?

AnneLovesGilbert · 22/10/2019 09:07

I had this. Sudden painless heavy red bleed when I was 9 weeks. Scared the life out of me after previous losses. The baby was fine, I got scanned at the EPU and she was there bobbing around and hb was strong. We were amazed, I got hysterical laughter with the relief and the sonographer must have thought I was mad. It was a big clot in my uterus and I was warned it could happen again but it didn’t.

Have you had your booking appointment? If so the EPU should definitely see you ASAP but no pain and a light bleed is a good sign. Wishing you and your pregnancy every luck.

I had 10 lots of bright red bleeding, one massive where PJ bottoms were totally soaked in red blood. She's now 14. Never any pain. It was touch and go and was told would miscarry (had a big blood clot in uterus 3 times her size at week 9) but she survived.

IMWang · 22/10/2019 09:15

I had this around 6 weeks and it continued on and off for a about 2 weeks. I also had mild cramps too. I was convinced I was having a miscarriage but I went onto have a healthy Dd.

Only way to know everything is okay is to get an early scan. I hope everything is okay with your pregnancy and wish you luck

Woodlandwitch · 22/10/2019 09:20

I spoke to EPU and they told me to get referred by GP or go to A&E.

I will book a private scan as I have tried on and off to get through to my GP surgery for a few days with no luck now.

Fingers crossed all is ok.

I’ve had no pain and my symptoms otherwise are strong but I know that’s not always a guarantee of things being ok

Yep! I had 2 previous losses. I'm now cuddling my 5 month old. I bled from 9 to 17 weeks bright red large amounts with clots but never any pain. I had a extra chronic hemorrhage attached to sac but baby was fine I also had no symptoms in any pregnancy. Get a scan and go from there, hope you're ok xx

AllTheWhoresOfMalta · 22/10/2019 11:18

Yes! Bled bright red blood from 5 weeks to 14 weeks on and off with DD2. Absolutely fine. Very scary at the time though. In the end they said that they thought the blood was mine and not hers.

tisonlymeagain · 22/10/2019 11:52

Massive bright red bleed at 5 weeks - only lasted about 5 minutes but was like a medium flow period. Went to A&E to be admitted to EPU and they did blood tests, scan 3 days later and a follow up scan at 7 weeks. All was fine, no obvious sign of bleed so probably just a sensitive cervix. Now 25 weeks pregnant, haven't bled since.

Addicted89 · 22/10/2019 12:39

I had spotting at 7 weeks and heavy bleeds at 8 & 13 weeks, I’m now 20 weeks and everything is going well.
There could be underlying reason to the bleeding, mine was an abnormal shaped uterus diagnosed at my 12 weeks scan.
Good luck!

Me!!!! I was worried sick and really played on my mind until they let me have a scan. I now have a super chunky and hyper almost 2 year old. Good luck xx

Namechangeymcnamechange11 · 23/10/2019 08:30

With both my pregnancies. DC1 at 6 weeks, had an inconclusive scan, went back two weeks later and the heartbeat was there and all as normal.
With this pregnancy, bleeding at 7 weeks and a few days, scan a few days later, all normal again and a heartbeat.
It doesn't get any less worrying.

After our trip to epu with DC1, DH and I both were under the impression that brown blood = ok, red blood = Very Bad. But at a different epu with DC2, we were told that the colour doesn't matter, it's quantity that does.
I was asked by NHS direct/111 whether it was more than a mug full in quantity.

Ohnoherewego62 · 23/10/2019 08:35

Me. I was 8/9 weeks and lots of fresh blood for a few days. Phoned on thursday and couldn't get seen until the Monday! Longest weekend ever.

Now crawling about the house and making lots of mess! Good luck OP! Flowers

starlightmagic · 23/10/2019 08:36

I spotted between pink/red from 7weeks to 12 weeks and for about a week at 13! 16 now, heard heartbeat Monday which was really good and strong, not always bad news! Good luck to you Flowers

Lastbustowhitehawk · 23/10/2019 08:39

Fingers crossed for you OP. I had a heavy red bleed at 8 weeks which scared the life out of me but baby was absolutely fine.

Heismyopendoor · 23/10/2019 08:43

I had a heavy bleed at 6 weeks, bright red blood and soaked all through my clothes there was so much :( I was also in pain too.

Baby was fine, was scanned in the morning and there he was little heart beating away. They couldn’t tell me why I’d bled. He’s now a big 7 year old who still enjoys driving me up the wall and making me stress!

Hope everything works out for you

HasThisSoddingNameGoneToo · 23/10/2019 08:46

I had bright red bleeding with DS2. I can’t remember when, but it was quite far along in the pregnancy. Maybe 7 months? It lasted for a few hours and I got scanned at the hospital.

He’s 11 now and at secondary school.

CornishMaid1 · 23/10/2019 08:55

I had red bleeding without pain at 7.5 weeks. I then had the most horrific red bleeding complete with some pain and giant clots at 8 weeks, with some spotting after. I also had a further go at red bleeding with no pain at around 13 or 14 weeks.

I had my 20 week scan on Monday and baby is doing great.

Google is your worst enemy right now - most of the stories will say that bleeding is a sign of miscarriage and frighten you, but it can just happen. The second lot I had I was convinced I had a miscarriage (I have never had such heavy bleeding) but it turned out to be a subchorionic haematoma which healed fine.

Ohyesiam · 23/10/2019 08:57

I had the same and she’s 15 now x

Woodlandwitch · 23/10/2019 09:41

Thank you for all the reassurance

I have a private scan booked in this evening

Hi I have had a lot of bleeds with this baby, I'm now 40+4 and waiting for the arrival of the baby.

I had blood when I wiped a lot up to around 16 weeks, then it stopped and I had another bleed at 20 weeks then nothing since. Each time I've gone to the hospital and they can never explain why I've bled or where it's come from. Apparently sometimes it just happens and can just be a sensitive cervix. I know it's scary to see, I've had so many nights where I've cried myself to sleep thinking I'd wake up and this pregnancy would be over but here I am about to give birth. It's so so hard to stay positive when you see blood you just feel scared and that's natural. I wish you all the best in your pregnancy xx

Woodlandwitch · 23/10/2019 19:39

I had my private scan and saw baby and heartbeat.
💓
So relieved
