Hi all,

For those of you who have had your 28 week scans, what was your estimated baby weights.
And for those of you who have given birth already, what was your 28 week weights vs birth weights?

Thanks xxx

I was told my little boy was 2.7 haven't had him yet tho but feel massive so prob gonna be a massive baby haha

Andersonx3 · 06/10/2019 21:37

At 28+5 weeks she was 2lb 1oz, at 31+4 she was 4lb 2oz. I'm having scans every 4 weeks so can update at my next at the end of the month!

PowerslidePanda · 06/10/2019 21:56

My twins were both estimated as 2lb 9oz at 28 weeks.

Mintypea5 · 06/10/2019 22:00

28 weeks - 2lb 14oz
32 weeks - 4lb 10oz

Got my 36 week one in 1.5 weeks so reckon if she's following her curve she'll be just under 6lb

Pinkflower23 · 06/10/2019 22:06

@Andersonx3 please do. I had mine last week and she was estimated at 2lb 15oz. I’m also having scans every 4 weeks just because of loads of faults alarms in early pregnancy. Im thinking at least at my 36 week scan I will get a good estimate for her delivery ishhh. I’m only 5’2 and so is all the women in my family. Non of them have given birth to a baby bigger than 6lb 3 oz. I’m just preying that in the 11 weeks left she doesn’t get to big haha xxx

I can't find my 28 week one but at 31 weeks she was estimated at 3lb.
She was born at 37 weeks induced due to small baby and she weighed 5lb 3oz

Cherry85 · 06/10/2019 22:53

I got told at my 20 weeks scan that we wouldn't get another one unless there were concerns?

Is that normal? Are your 28 week scans routine?x

20viona · 06/10/2019 23:30

No it's not routine it can be for a few reasons mainly growth concerns.

SleepingStandingUp · 06/10/2019 23:36

25 week scan the twins were 1lb 14 oz, got 27 week scan Tuesday so will update then. No idea how quick they grow at this point

57Varieties · 06/10/2019 23:40

Just under 3lb and then estimated 6lb 13 at 36 weeks. I almost fell off the couch as my eldest son was 6lb 10 born at 41 weeks! (This was when I also guessed no 2 was a boy as I thought a girl bigger than a boy would be quite unusual!)

He was estimated to be 8 - 8.5 lb at birth but was 7 lb 7 oz born 4 days before EDD

Andersonx3 · 07/10/2019 08:48

@Pinkflower23 hopefully she'll not get too big but I'm sure you'll do great even if she's a whopper! My mum is tall and slim, I'm short and chubby, but I've had so many comments saying my bump isn't that big so hopefully if I'm carrying like my mum then I'll have 2x 6lb's like she did!

Pineappleofmyeye · 07/10/2019 09:13

2.11 at 28 weeks which seems massive to me.
I was born 5.1 at 37 so I was hoping for 6.7 at term with my baby.
Will update after 32 week scan

Aneley · 08/10/2019 07:31

28+3 she measured 2.9lbs... we went privately 2 days later and doctor estimated her to whooping 3.3. Was told that she's big and will be a big baby but was explained that this is most likely because her father was a huge baby (9.9 at birth) too as all other parameters are normal.

Aneley · 08/10/2019 07:33

If it is any comfort - my MIL is 5.2 and super-slim and she gave birth to both my husband (9.9lb at birth) and his even bigger brother (10.8lbs at birth) without an issue. No diabetes or anything - babies were just big.

sweetsaltypopcorn · 08/10/2019 12:55

I can't remember what she was at 28 weeks, but at 31+0 she was 3lb 13oz and at 34+0 she was 5lb 8oz.
Currently 34+6 and having another one at 37+0.

aliensprig · 08/10/2019 15:19

I have just had my 28 week appointment and the estimated weight is 2.4lbs. Is that really small?? He's moving every 2-3 hours and fundal height 27cm. I feel like I need a scan to be reassured but my hospital doesn't offer any more on NHS :(

itsaldramarama · 08/10/2019 15:25

I have no faith in scans , I had one at 36 weeks as they thought he was small , told me he was 4lb , born 4 weeks later at 10lb 9 oz!

SleepingStandingUp · 08/10/2019 22:48

Scan today, 26+5 and twin2 is measuring 2lb 6 (Twin 1 is naughty and wouldnt have his tummy measured but they were matching weights two weeks ago)

@Aneley my MIL did similar, she's 5ft nothing and both were great weight babies

@aliensprig if they were worried they'd refer you for a growth scan, i'm sure baby is fine

@itsaldramarama i know they can be out but that is crazy!

PutBabyInTheCorner · 08/10/2019 22:57

6lb seems very light to me. I thought most babies were bigger than that now. I'm not big, size 8-10 and low BMI. I had growth scans all through pregnancy as I always had a small bump. All my babies have been over 9lb birth weight though.

Mintypea5 · 09/10/2019 10:46

@PutBabyInTheCorner all babies are different 🤷🏻‍♀️ both mine have been 7lb something completely fine and normal. Some people
Just have smaller babies

Andersonx3 · 09/10/2019 17:25

@aliensprig my little one was 2.1 at 28 weeks and 4.2 at 32, measuring perfectly in the centre of everything so I wouldn't worry! I have a 36 week scan in a few weeks so I'll update 🙂

PutBabyInTheCorner · 10/10/2019 07:37

@Mintypea5
Yes I agree. I was only 7lb birth weight. Just noticed OP said babies in her family usually around 6lb and she hopes hers doesn't get too big. I just thought that seemed light and giving birth to bigger babies is fine.

aliensprig · 10/10/2019 11:16

@Andersonx3 thank you, that's really reassuring :) hope your next scan goes well! Wish I was closer to the finish line, the worry is doing my head in!

Smotheroffive · 10/10/2019 11:23

36 week scan predicted 9llb 10oz baby! Was terrified. Prediction was wrong by 2llb! Phew!

Another 36 week scan predicted, over 10llb, again wrong, and another was well under, equally scarey.

How do they get this so wrong. I gave up over-thinking it after having wasted so much time and energy worrying about their inaccurate predictions.

Smotheroffive · 10/10/2019 12:04

Incorrectly sexed too, and scared me half to death with downs syndrome risks and dire birth risks.

All were fine, births and babies!
