28 week scan, what was your estimated baby weights

Hi all,

For those of you who have had your 28 week scans, what was your estimated baby weights.
And for those of you who have given birth already, what was your 28 week weights vs birth weights?

I had a scan this week at 28+6 and baby is measuring at 3lb 8 so could be a whopper at birth. When I had my sin he was measured at 4lb 4 at 32 weeks and arrived at 36weeks and was 6lb 7 so the scans then were fairly accurate

I had scan today 28 weeks she said the baby was about 2lbs 10oz

My DD1 was born at 28+1. She weighed 2lb 11oz and we were told she was a good weight.

DD2 was 2lb 9oz at the growth scan at 28+1. She was born at 33 weeks weighing 4lb 8oz.

28+5 today and av 3lb each

Can't remember at 28 weeks but 34 weeks DS was 5lb something born at 38 + 3 at 7lb 2oz

Had my scan on Wednesday at 35+4 and she was weighing 5lb 13oz! Little whopper!

31 weeks Thursday gone, measuring 4lb and 4lb 6!

Just had 28 wk growth scan baby est to be 3lb 4oz... yep hes going to be a whopper lol.

Thing is though 6lb or 9lb they still gotta come out and you wont even know what size they are untill they do so no point worrying over it.
My 1st was 7lb 11oz & 2nd was 9lb 8oz and both hurt as much as each other🙈

Can't remeber exactly as had to haves lot of scans due to being diabetic but was told I would have a huge 10 pound baby , was worried sick but bub only turned out to be 7 pounds!

28 weeks - 2lb 12oz
31 weeks - 4lb 2oz
36 weeks - 6lb 10oz
Born 37 + 5 - 8lb 4oz

@20viona hi sorry to jump on could you tell me a bit about why induced? If any other problems etc, just ok having growth scans last one 33+5 where she was 4.8 and had dropped from 50th centile to 25th centile, o have another in 10 days with consultant after where midwife said will make decision of to section me if baby had reduced growth again! However a midwife today said they won't unless she dropped under 10th centile or totally stopped growing! Just wondered if you knew which was correct 😵

@ameliathomas84 hi I had no other issues. She was just consistently below the 10th centile and was born on the 4th centile. They suggested induction as there was very little growth between by 35 and 37 week scans but the placenta wasn't showing any issues. It all went well so I can't complain. She is now 17 weeks old and 12lb exactly which is the 9th centile.

My little guy was measured at 4lbs at 31 weeks.

I don't hold much stock though as I had regular growth scans towards the end of my 1st and 3rd pregnancies that were wildly innacurate. With dd2 they told me to expect a 5-6lb baby, and turned out she was over 8lb. Similar story with ds1.

@20viona thanks for that ! I really don't understand the first midwife said if dropped below 25th or stopped growing at all would induce eBay if stayed on same line would leave me another two weeks then midwife today said no they will just monitor you! Consultant is on 21st can't wait for that! So I know what doing! She weighs 4.8lb at 34 weeks x

I only saw consultant twice and she actually said 'I don't know why midwives make such a big deal about the smaller babies they are obviously easier to push out everybody wants one like that' which is why I was surprised when her registrar suggested induction 2 weeks later lol.

I wonder how many babies she's pushed out?? I have plenty of pr mates who'd say smaller was harder (gravity?) not to mention that larger babies generally have less issues in nicu

i think the further you are along the less accurate the scans are, i was told by the sonographer when i had my last growth scan with DS1 that once the head is engaged its very difficult for them to measure correctly, which in turn throws the entire predicted weight out as its worked out as some sort of average between AC HC FL. They predicted DS1 at 6lb 9 at my 36 week growth scan, he was born 37+1 at 5lb 6! x

3 pounds. At 36 weeks estimate was 6 pounds and they said if full time may be approx 7.5-8 pounds. But I’m taking these with a pinch of salt because that would be considered a giant in my family.

At my first growth scan, 28+5 estimated weight was 3lb 9... Showing as the 95th percentile! I've got another one on Monday (31+5) so we'll see. I'm obviously petrified of having to deliver a whopper, especially as I'm only 5ft tall - genuinely feel like like a beach ball with a couple of melons on top!

28+2 EFW = 1410g (3lb 1oz)

HC and AC on 90th centile. Attached my chart pic.

Another at 32 & 36 weeks, will update those.

My DS2 was born at 29 weeks and weighed 3 lbs 11 oz.
At the 28 week growth scan they said he was only just over 2 lbs!
My DS1 was 3 lbs 7 oz at 28 weeks and they said he would be a huge baby .
However he was born at 39 weeks and weighed just 6 lbs 1 oz.
Wildly differing weights both times !

At 30 weeks DS weighed 3lbs 7 he was born a day before my due date at 9lbs 4

any updates? I have my 32 week growth on Tuesday and I feel HUGE since my scan at 28 weeks , im dreading it.
