Do you ladies think bubble tea is ok to drink once in awhile? I don’t have any caffeine in my life right now and major craving for this!

rubyroot · 17/09/2019 08:19

I don't know what bubble tea is, but I have a cup of caffeinated instant coffee every morning and a cup of caffeinated cup of tea in the afternoon. Wondering if that's why baby was on the move yesterday at scan Shock

rubyroot · 17/09/2019 08:20

I'm within the NHS limit btw, so I'm happy with that

rubyroot · 17/09/2019 08:23

@sadtoday21 I just shaved the lot off before birth in the bath with a mirror 😂. I think the midwives were pleased I had an induction so had a catheta fitted (I think) and they had to clean my vagiba regularly so I think they were pleased they weren't having to part pubes. Also they didn't have to shave my bikini line for c section. 👍

fnej01 · 17/09/2019 08:33

Thanks @sadtoday21 wasn't planning on going Brazilian, had my bikini line lasered years ago so is fortunately low maintenance. However, I think leg waxing on the side is the way ahead. The lady last night just looked at me like I was mad! Never heard of bubble tea but I do have a couple of caffeinated coffees a week and the odd cup of tea. I think a little is absolutely fine. X

Dimblebimble · 17/09/2019 08:35

Hi everyone, haven't been on Mumsnet much as have been away with work. How is everyone doing? We are having a lovely sunny week here, so enjoying it before the autumn fully sets in!

Random question, but does anyone experience morning sickness but not in the morning. I know that it's a myth that it only occurs in the morning, but I've read that it's usually stronger in the morning. I am experiencing mild nausea whenever I get hungry, but strangely never in the morning. To be fair, I usually eat breakfast 5-10 mins after waking up, but I thought I'd feel a little queasy when I first got out of bed.

janey15 · 17/09/2019 08:59

@Dimblebimble I feel at my best in the morning. Even when I was at my most sick the first 30 minutes after waking were wonderfully nausea free. Afternoon and evening are far worse for me!

@sadtoday21 I have completely gone off tea, coffee and chocolate but I am allowing myself a very naughty can of Diet Coke every couple of days. I know it's so bad for you but it really helps my nausea and tiredness!

@Catconfusion that is so awful but sadly doesn't surprise me as I have heard many similarly awful stories. Teachers are so undervalued and replaceable it really is awful. We are a small school and generally the staff all get on and are really supportive of each other but I have witnessed people being pushed out from above and if makes you feel horribly insecure. It's one of the main reasons I know I won't be there forever. In fact I was considering resigning at the end of this year if we hadn't been successful with ivf but now I'm relieved to get the maternity pay.

Well I just called my dr but she's not in until Thursday so I'm going to have to decide whether to go back to work on Thursday or not. I'm leaning towards going back as I feel it will get harder the longer I leave it but I am worried as my nausea seems to be unpredictable!

Bluebelltulip · 17/09/2019 09:04

I generally have a coffee a day which is under the NHS recommendation so I don't think bubble tea would be a problem.

I can't help on the waxing legs query as I shave mine. On the subject of Brazilians etc though it's recommended that you don't do anything too close to birth as it can increase infection risk, previously I've just kept it trimmed so it looks tidy.

Catconfusion · 17/09/2019 09:15

Hey @janey15 it is really sad because the profession is losing good teachers due to poor management. Everyone is under so much pressure and it seems to lead to bad decisions being made. I know some schools are better than others. My school was brilliant and the best I’d worked in until the management team changed which led to a mass exodus so I wasn’t the only one.

Could you speak to another doctor since it’s so pressing? Your sickness is unpredictable and if you don’t feel you can work you shouldn’t have to go back. Either that or see/speak to your doctor on Thursday and I’m sure she will sign you off again. You could always call in sick until you have the certificate. You might not need too much longer off. I’m 10 weeks now and I feel like I’ve turned a corner with the new antacids I’m taking. If you’re feeling like you’ll be ok then go in but it’s absolutely ok to take more time. The nausea and sickness is brutal. Xx

Dimblebimble · 17/09/2019 09:57

@janey15 Glad it's not just me! You'd think if it's caused by hunger it'd be worse in the morning, but I feel fine until mid morning when I get peckish. I am jealous that you're still able to drink Diet Coke - I'm a total Diet Coke addict as I don't drink tea or coffee and need the caffeine but I can't stomach it at the moment. I can only drink a few sips!

janey15 · 17/09/2019 10:12

@Dimblebimble I'm a complete tea addict normally! Now I keep trying it every few days but can't drink it at all which is very annoying!

Twitwooo · 17/09/2019 11:26

Hi ladies,

Optimistically joining you after getting a clear bfp on Sunday which would put me at 3 weeks according to lmp but I'm pretty sure I ovulated on day 7 so one week ahead.

I'm 30, have one dd aged 2.5 and suffered one mc back in January at 8-9 weeks.

I chose to stay away from ttc threads but as I will be trying to keep this secret until 12 weeks, I need someone to talk to :)

Catconfusion · 17/09/2019 11:42

Congrats @Twitwooo that’s fantastic news. Fingers crossed for you this time. It’s so hard after loss but you’re in the right place for support! Xx

tinatsarina · 17/09/2019 12:53

Congratulations @Twitwooo your more than welcome to join us.

I think the closer I get to birth and the bigger I get I might just go au natural with the bikini area. But if I can get the right angles I'll at least keep it trim.

Dimblebimble · 17/09/2019 14:01

I have just started spotting red blood 😢 this is around the time the other two stopped developing so I expected it, but still upset. I rang the epu but they said unless I start bleeding heavy to wait until my scheduled scan on Tuesday. They said I can go up there if I want but they can't guarantee they'll be able to scan me, they might just check my cervix. Don't know what to do. I guess there's not much they can do at this point anyway../

Catconfusion · 17/09/2019 14:11

I’m so sorry @Dimblebimble and I’m really surprised your EPAU won’t guarantee you a scan before your next one. I’m sure you just want to know what’s going on. Hopefully the spotting isn’t anything serious. Thinking of you and hoping it stops! Xx

Dimblebimble · 17/09/2019 14:35

@catconfusion Yes I was surprised she said that, but I guess there's nothing they can do about it, is there? If the baby was still alive but I was spotting, is there anything they can do to help or do they just have to let nature take its course?

Life is so unfair sometimes :( I'm 30 soon and was looking forward to celebrating my birthday with a baby on the way, but looks like I'll be going into my next decade with the same uncertainty about the future.

Beaglemum93 · 17/09/2019 15:53

Welcome and congratulations @Twitwooo!

Sorry you're spotting @Dimblebimble. How far along are you now? I had spotting from 5.5 to 10.5 weeks and a red bleed at 6 weeks and all was ok so it could still be ok. I have everything crossed for you that all is ok.

Dimblebimble · 17/09/2019 16:00

@Beaglemum93 I'm around 7.5 weeks - I would have been 8 weeks on Friday. My previous losses have all stopped developing at 8 weeks exactly, so I was braced for it, but it's still upsetting. And they've all been mmcs preceded by spotting, though in the past it's started off as brown. It seems to have stopped for now.

Beaglemum93 · 17/09/2019 16:07

@Dimblebimble the spotting may not have been linked to the MMCs, I had spotting the same in this pregnancy as in my first (a MMC). I still have hope for you. It's so unfair, we've all been through so much pain, we deserve our rainbows...

ChikiTIKI · 17/09/2019 16:45

I hope it's just a one off and that your pregnancy is still going really well @Dimblebimble

It's such an awful feeling in your heart when things like this happen. It still can be OK though. I am thinking positive thoughts for you xxxx

rubyroot · 17/09/2019 17:03

Yes schools are difficult about any time off. I had three weeks off after termination last year and my colleagues hated me for it because of all the extra work they had to do. Teachers are guilted into coming into work come hell or high water.

rubyroot · 17/09/2019 17:04

@Dimblebimble yes as others said. Hope it's just spotting and no impact on your baby 🤞

Catconfusion · 17/09/2019 17:16

@Dimblebimble your mental health is important and knowing whether or not you’re miscarrying is obviously huge for your wellbeing. It doesn’t matter whether there’s anything that can be done I think you should be seen. I’d be livid if I wasn’t offered an emergency scan. Are you on progesterone? I’ve heard that can help with spotting after recurrent loss. I really hope all is ok! Xx

Laney79 · 17/09/2019 17:23

@Dimblebimble definitely ring epau back...the recent research from Tommy's showed that progesterone MAY help some women who've had multiple miscarriages and experienced bleeding in early pregnancy. I'd ask again for a scan and if the baby is ok request the progesterone xxx

www.tommys.org/our-organisation/about-us/charity-news/prism-trial-bleeding-early-pregnancy-and-miscarriage

"What does this mean for women who have bleeding in pregnancy
If you have bleeding in your current pregnancy and you have had 1 or more previous miscarriages, we recommend that you ask your doctor for the progesterone treatment."
