6 weeks with bleeding

Sorry lost post..

I’m currently exactly six weeks. From four weeks I have had constant brown bleeding, not enough for a pad as such, but there when I wipe and sometimes in my underwear. I had a scan because of this at 5 + 4 days, where we saw the gestational sack and the yolk sack. The nurse was happy with my progression and wants me back at 7 weeks to get a heartbeat as it was too early.

The evening after the scan (was trans-vaginal) I bled red for about 2 hours - again not enough for a pad - followed by brown ever since.

Will my baby be ok? Any positive stories?

@zoeoliviax that's exactly what I'm going through right now! Went to EPU last Monday after seeing brown blood and the scan showed the sac and yolk bit as I was only around 5 weeks, too early for a heartbeat. I'm 6w2d today and going back for my scan at 7 week, on Wednesday. The consultant said it was sub chorionic bleed. And apparently it's common. I read more about it and feel ok. I still have brown bleed/discharge every day but not filling the pad and no cramps, pains or clots. I had a 2nd missed miscarriage in May followed by d&c. Hope you'll feel a bit better once you've read about that type of bleed

zoeoliviax · 02/08/2019 17:27

Ah thank you for replying @russkispy means a lot. I too had a miscarriage so overthinking everything I think. Our stories are so similar it’s crazy! 😊

I’ve been told it’s normal by the nurse but you can’t help but wonder with it carrying on constantly for two weeks!

My missed miscarriage were from fertility treatments but I was on progesterone and didn't even know miscarriages happened. One minute you see a heartbeat and 2 weeks later nothing but pregnancy symptoms remained the same even nausea! This pregnancy is natural and very first ever! We were all set for donor egg in July but got a surprise BFP and now this bleed. Not only dealing with natural conception in general but all other things with it thrown at you. I thought I was around 6w3d when went to EPU last Monday but was only at the begging around 5. Dates could be all messed up especially after a miscarriage and not having full 3 AF cycles, I was told. My 7 week scan is on Wednesday and when is yours?

zoeoliviax · 02/08/2019 17:57

@russkispy Wow you have been through so much! Feel bad for even moaning.. Hats off for persisting, amazing you have kept it all going.
Hopefully we both come out of this with a smile on our faces hey mine is next Friday. I was 5+4 on Tuesday with the scan, and change weeks every Friday :)

@zoeoliviax thanks! When I look back I think, bloody hell, can't believe this!
DD was conceived with IUI, on first try. She's just over 2 now. Last year IUI was successful but ended in a missed miscarriage. Gutted! Then 3 unsuccessful IUIs, then 1 round of IVF in December, negative and no frosties. Chemical in January. Then 2nd round IVF, successful, saw a heartbeat at 7 weeks, at 9 weeks all gone. 1 frozen embryo had a trisomy in 18. Then all geared up for donor egg last month and here I am 6w2d, natural conception. And I'm ancient of 43! And you?

zoeoliviax · 02/08/2019 19:49

@russkispy Wow, you have been through a lot. I don’t have much to say in comparison to you haha! Had my daughter first month trying to conceive, was just a nightmare pregnancy she never moved much, turned out she’d grew underneath my ribcage, got stuck there and was born at 32 weeks. She’s now 16 months, we’ve been trying for number 2 since she was 9 months, got told I had stopped ovulating and had secondary infertility, miscarried 2 months ago and now we’re here at 6 exactly! I’m 22 :)

You could have been my daughter haha that's how ancient I am! let's hope this pregnancy works out for us just fine! Crossing everything for us! Keep me posted! Smile

Apple35 · 02/08/2019 20:16

Hey. Experiencing the same! Brown discharge happening again. Thought i was around 7 weeks but sonographer said yesterday i look around 5 and a half(ish). Got a preg sac and a yolk sac. So scared! A tad bit crampy but not sore. Xx

zoeoliviax · 02/08/2019 20:48

@Russkispy Aha don’t be daft, never to old to get what you want anyway :) Hats off to you for doing what you want!
Oh definitely, will have to update me once you’ve had your scan for sure !!! Fingers toes everything crossed

@Apple35
Welcome! :) Haha.. Isn’t it such a nightmare. Trying, finding out and then being problems. Did they say whether to worry about it or that it’s normal?

OP posts:
Apple35 · 02/08/2019 21:09

Well was told it isn't normal but it is not uncommon which does not help! I am so scared i miscarry but hear it is more concerning if it is fresh red blood. When i had brown spotting before my bfp i wad worried but phoned a clinic. The nurse told me that she bled for the first four months of her pregnancy and that brown blood is old blood.
It is so worrying but sometimes feel u can get brushed off! Xx

IScreamForIceCreams · 02/08/2019 21:13

Brown blood tends to be "old" blood, bright red is more concerning. Hope it will all be ok OP!

zoeoliviax · 02/08/2019 22:14

@Apple35 I know how you feel. Hopefully we’re just being silly and these little beans are just being naughty for us :) after my fresh red blood I rang the EPU and she said that as long as it doesn’t fill a pad or leak through clothes with pain then don’t worry. Are you having any more scans?

@IScreamForIceCreams Yeah that’s what I’m hoping for,’I had a little red blood but they weren’t concerned. :)

Apple35 · 02/08/2019 22:25

Yeah me too hun! Getting a scan on Sunday so nervous about that. But would rather just know. Trust me to not have a straight forward pregnancy! Xx

IScreamForIceCreams · 03/08/2019 10:34

Fingers crossed for you!

physicskate · 03/08/2019 10:57

Sorry I couldn't help but to jump on this thread to say to @Russkispy: I have literally everything crossed for you!!! Toes, fingers and legs!!!

summeryet · 03/08/2019 12:08

Hey.. have had very similar symptoms.. lots of brown spotting, with a few red flashes, constantly from six weeks onwards. No cramping. Now ten+five, had a scan last week and everything is exactly as it's meant to be!

The midwife says that it sometimes just happens and they don't know why. So don't panic!

Good luck ladies x

Apple35 · 03/08/2019 12:45

Thanks for ur reassuring message! Mines has settled at the minute so hoping it stays that way!! Xx

zoeoliviax · 03/08/2019 13:47

Hey all. My partner took me for a private scan today, had that done and the lady said I’m a little behind more 5/5 than 6 weeks, but she can see the start of cardiac activity so by the time I get the scan on Friday the heartbeat should be fluttering away :-)

Still spotting brown but she said don’t stress it’s all fine :)

Apple35 · 03/08/2019 14:17

Grand news. I spoke to soon (once again!) and brown spottong slightly again. The private sonographer said I was not 6 weeks yet either. Did you have a fetal pole? Did she explain anything about the spotting? Xx

Sarwald · 03/08/2019 15:01

I had brown spotting everyday from 4 weeks till 11 weeks. Red bleeding on three occasions. Had a couple of scans but they didn't find anything concerning. Now happily 25 weeks pregnant looking forward to the final trimester! It's not textbook but it happens. The doctors at the time really weren't concerned and they were right

zoeoliviax · 03/08/2019 16:35

@Sarwald it’s nice to know things can actually be okay with all this. Feels like every day is such a long day. I’d say I’m excited for 12 weeks but there will no doubt be something else to worry about 😃

OP posts:
Apple35 · 04/08/2019 18:34

Got my heartbeat today and i am 6 weeks xx

Russkispy · 04/08/2019 18:46

@physicskate thank you! Nice to hear from you! How's your little one?
@Apple35 that's great news! Has spotting stopped now!?
I thought mine stopped as didn't have anything all night and till this afternoon but can see some now. Surprisingly not worried about it. It's been 2 weeks now. I'm ready for whatever outcome on Wednesday scan.

Apple35 · 04/08/2019 18:57

@Russkispy Yeah spotting has stopped now. Pretty much stopped last night so hoping it stays that way. She examined me and couldn't see a reason why for the brown spotting xx

Russkispy · 04/08/2019 19:01

@Apple35 great! Hope it stays away! And pleased about your scan. What a relief for you!
