Hello! I'm starting a thread where us plus size girls can talk pregnancy!
I've noticed you rarely see a plus size bump etc.

My journey started 2 months ago. My OH and I have been busy working etc etc and realised we're nearly 30 (I'm 29 and he's 28). I have a few friends trying for a baby and struggling (not plus size, one older, one younger) so we got concerned that our weight and age would make things difficult (I'm 5"5, size 16 and 14 stone, BMI 33).

So, after years of telling everyone I didn't want kids, I wanted to get married first (we've been together 10 and a half years, getting married July 2020), were not ready yet etc... we decided to see how it went.

I started using apps and ovulation tests and we had sex st the right times but cycle 1 was not successful. I think I got a bit too obsessed.
Month two, I did the same but I was more relaxed about it. Then I got cramps and could feel my period coming, I was a bit gutted but tried not to get too down. BUT, AF didn't arrive... I took a test and it was a BFP!

I'm currently 5w4d by my calculations. Due 29th March 2020. I rang for an appointment and was given one for 29th August- I'll be 10 weeks by then! The lady on the self referral line said I need to take more folic acid because of my weight. I'm waiting for a prescription because you can only have it prescribed. I'm taking 4mg (rather than 5) and hoping this will be okay?!!

I've been reading online and can see there's some scare mongering for larger pregnant ladies bit I've also read that most plus sized women have healthy pregnancies.
Let's offer each other support and advise Smile

Hello! I had my 16 week appointment last week, all was good. Urine and bloods came back clear. The widowed was very impressed by my iron levels.
Yesterday I had my private 16 week scan. The baby wasn't in the right position so I had to go for a walk and a wiggle. Finally she was able to tell that we are having a baby girl!!!! 💗

30 weeks today! Latest for me is delightful PGP/SPD... Waiting for a physio appointment but might have to steal my husband's old crutches! The achiness is one thing but its the pain in the lady garden that's worse, honestly feels like a sledgehammer to the foof...

@Lizzieee2727 SPD is the absolute worst. I've had it from 10 weeks. I'm so over being pregnant. 37 weeks now. Growth scans still going strong, back for another on Friday.

@Lizzieee2727 @smartcarnotsosmartdriver sorry to hear about your PGP!
I'm almost 20 weeks now, feeling string movements and my fiancé felt baby for the first time too the other night. I have my 20 week scan on Wednesday. Excited to see her again!

For all the lovely ladies who have conceived successfully being overweight - if you were overweight, was your delivery OK and is your baby ok? I am overweight and want to know what are the chances for me and the baby to survive the birth even though I could be considered morbidly obese. (weight 155kg) Some studies suggest losing just 10% would be massively beneficial, would you agree with that?

Hi everyone I'm 16 weeks I'm due 19 June because my bmi is high due to weight I have to take aspirin every night also once I'm 28 weeks I have scans every 3 weeks as It's likely baby will be big I was told so least I'll get to see him or her often

Hi hope everyone is getting on well. I've name changed as I've changed car! I was @smartcarnotsosmartdriver.

@Curiousjean67 I had an ELCS at 39 weeks because baby was big and I had reduced movements so I asked for a section. They would have allowed me to deliver vaginally although they probably would have induced due to reduced movements. DS was/is absolutely perfect. No issues at all just a big healthy boy. I did have to loose about 6 stone to conceive but that did still leave me very overweight.

@Goldenmother I loved my extra growth scans, couldn't have imagined going from 20-40 weeks without seeing that he was still ok in there.

Also be prepared for them to dictate you having the baby in a hospital as you probably won’t be allowed in a midwife led unit and it will limit options like water birth

This isn't always the case. My BMI was about 33 and I had a water birth at home with my first.

Good luck to all of you!

I'm 9 weeks and BMI over 40! I saw my midwife and I was so anxious but she was nice about it (thank god!)

How are you all getting on?
