Oh god I am with you. Also 35 weeks and struggling. I usually really love hot weather (originally from a hot country) but the combination of nothing to wear + swollen feet + hot hot hot tube ride is not enjoyable! I am okay at the office (air conditioning!) but I am finding that I need copious amounts of ice cold water on my commute. At home, bare feet (cool-ish floors) and open windows are keeping me cool. I am working from home as much as possible - today will be my last day in the office this week as I have arranged to work from home tomorrow and Friday.

Marty93 · 24/07/2019 13:44

I'm 16 weeks and feel like I'm struggling, so I feel sooo sorry for you ladies who are nearing the end of your pregnancies!

my tummy is just so hot and sweaty ALL THE TIME. and Itchy. I have 0 concentration span and literally hogging the fan in the office it's a joke.

We have a thermometer in our office which is reading 82 degree F which I think converts to somewhere like 24/25/26c..... and that is just the office!

honestly I am starting to feel so drowsy and a bit sick but think its because I'm just sooo hot.

luckily it will be winter when I am 30+ weeks and hopefully much cooler!

Whatisinaname1 · 24/07/2019 16:56

Im 19 weeks and have had loose bowels all afternoon plus a headache despite how much water i drink. I feel for you who are coming to the end.

Im using a fan with a freezer block in front of it.

itseasybeingcheesy · 24/07/2019 17:10

I'm slurping down far too many ice lollies, drinking (and therefore peeing) constantly and whinging. So far not much success in coping at all.

I'm due in two weeks though so I just keep thinking the end is nigh and dreaming of cold showers.

astridforty · 24/07/2019 17:15

39 weeks here, I slept under a wet well wrung out towel last night - something I’d read on here. Was an absolute game changer and I did actually get some sleep.

I’m on top of the duvet so some protection from the heat of the memory foam mattress.

Also eating loads of ice, I’ve got a bit of a thing for frozen Capri Sun pouches, use them as ice blocks on feet, neck etc. then when melted slightly, cut open the top and eat the slush.

Shelbybear · 24/07/2019 17:21

oh I don't blame u, I don't think I cld manage to get to work n back if I was in the 3rd trimester.

I'm only 20wks but really struggling with the heat. I've felt hot, sticky n sick all day at work. Can't concentrate and the worst is being in meetings trying to pretend not to feel so ill. I never feel sick during pregnancy so it's unusual for me. My work air con isnt working properly, they say they are in process of having it upgraded but I don't know any firm that takes months to fix it! Opening the windows does nothing. I also have to commute on train and it's soooo hot 😕 Thankfully I only work 3 days a week 👍 might ask to work from home on Friday, I'd have gone home sick if it wasn't for the meetings I had scheduled in.

NewMama2Be · 24/07/2019 17:25

It's so uncomfortable! 30 weeks here 🙋‍♀️
For the last 10 days or so anyway I've been waking up craving ice cold OJ at 4am and my 'chillys' bottle has been a lifesaver. I put ice and juice in it at around 10pm and come 4am / 5am the ice is still there and its perfect. Saves middle of the night zombie sleep attempts to get down to the kitchen.
Filled the bottle with crushed ice to take to work today and its still going strong, lots of iced drinks are helping massively 👍

harper30 · 24/07/2019 17:35

I was 36 weeks when last summer's heatwave started, I did finish earlier than my intended 38 week finish, then sat around all day with two fans pointed at me and drank icy drinks and ate cold watermelon from the freezer.
Good luck OP! and if you can go on maternity leave early I would, it's worth it to be able to sit around in your pants all day just relaxing, rather than dragging your carcass to work every day. I remember just before I finished my feet were SO swollen from the heat that I had to order fat shoes for work from a plus size website so I had something I could physically fit into! 😂

someonesmother · 24/07/2019 18:34

38 weeks here and melting... I honestly feel like those films you see of beached whales on the sand. Got my feet up with a bag of frozen peas trying to reduce swelling...
Someone on here recommended a 'cooling towel' from Amazon so I've got one of those. It's pretty good and was under a tenner. You can even take it out and about to wear around your neck as you only need to add a bit of water and shake it to make it cold again. I'm going to take it to the hospital with me when the day comes...
Got a fan in the bedroom for the night which helps too.

anitagreen · 25/07/2019 09:45

I'm 16 weeks and struggling in this heat baby is very active which is lovely but I'm constipated I can't eat much and the no air I gettjnf to me last night I couldn't sleep and honestly felt like I was about to go mad with anxiety it's horrible I felt so on edge and overwhelmed heat is a big trigger for me Blush

MrsD28 · 25/07/2019 12:19

How is everyone going today? It is roasting here (London) today. Very relieved that I arranged to work from home... I almost cried on the tube yesterday because I was so uncomfortable.

SunshineSophia · 25/07/2019 12:51

29 weeks here - the hot weather is actually ridiculous, I literally feel like I'm melting. I have nothing to wear, everything is swollen and the clothes I do have get all damp in a matter of minutes because of the sweat (sorry TMI)

Thankfully I was signed off with exhaustion or I'd also be struggling on the tube - @Msd2416 I feel you, I normally use the central line so crying is a legitimate response to the heat

anitagreen · 25/07/2019 13:34

Does anyone else feel panicky in this heat like you can't breathe and a bit on edge it's horrible I keep having anxiety attacks where I feel like something will happen it's the heat triggering it I think x

LolaSmiles · 25/07/2019 15:32

Those of you near the end sound like heroes to me.

I'm 15 weeks and dripping sweat like I don't know what.

Other than ice lollies, drinking lots, cooling foot gel, does anyone have any bright ideas on how to cool down.

Marty93 · 25/07/2019 16:28

@LolaSmiles today has just been horrendous. I was sent home from work as my office was 27 degrees at 11:30am , I'd been sick twice and literally looked and felt like I was going to collapse!

I have our pillow cases and bed sheets in the freezer for 30 mins before bed time, had a cold shower before getting into bed and using my ceiling fan. Keeping a cold damp flannel or hand towel to lay over my tummy is helping too.

X

bobble53 · 25/07/2019 17:47

I’m 21 weeks and feel like I’ve swallowed a hot water bottle. No air con and no fan. It was 36 degrees outside where I am today. Awful! Really feel for you ladies who are due now as it’s just so uncomfortable.

secretlyhermione · 25/07/2019 19:09

I feel you ladies! Starting the first day of my third trimester in bloody 37 degrees heat. I am so exhausted from the commute and work and the stickiness and sweatiness and heat! Thankfully they are predicted rain and thunderstorms this weekend where I live which I hope will help cool down the place a bit. I'm on holiday from next Wednesday onwards thank god! Solidarity with all you ladies! I already told my DP next time I will only be heavily pregnant in winter haha

Fae1989 · 25/07/2019 19:22

Hello all

Hope everyone's doing okay!

I'm 38+2 and currently housebound because I daren't go out. It's 34 degrees here today..

Anyone else's ankles suddenly decided to swell up massively? I've tried putting them in a bowl of icy water and elevating them but they look like little sausages! Lovely :)

Chocolatelover45 · 25/07/2019 19:28

Cold shower with clothes on works well if at home. At work have just been sweating away. Bare feet and cold drinks. Like the sleeping under wet towel idea.

Freddolin · 25/07/2019 19:57

Have been on a delayed train and then a furnace tube. Now lying in an almost stone cold bath.

I'm only 17 weeks, and you third trimester ladies are HEROS.

EllebellyBeeblebrox · 25/07/2019 20:06

Bleugh sweaty hugs for you all. 32weeks here and am absolutely fucked. Have had a weeks leave from work which is good as no air con in office or car, but also trying to entertain the other DCs is hard work, we've been doing lots of swimming and padding. Been sleeping with cold wet flannels, fans and ice packs around me! Was hoping we'd have another storm this eve to clear the air a bit

snowy29 · 26/07/2019 00:36

39 weeks here and really starting to struggle with the heat. It's going to be a long sticky night.

Here's hoping the forecast of cooler weather over the next few days is correct!!! 🥵

Beldon · 26/07/2019 07:13

Meant to be cooler Saturday Grin. It’s just grim at moment, 31wks here (and overweight anyway), just feel like I could pass out at work. Soon as I got home yest it was cool shower then lie in bed naked (sorry tmi) with fan going. I think I was asleep in about 10 minutes! Baby kicks have been really hurting this week, don’t know if it’s just coincidence or if they also suffer in the heat too

anitagreen · 26/07/2019 10:21

The thunderstorm was lovely last night it's so cool now and breezy I love this weather even tho it looks quite miserable out Grin

LolaSmiles · 26/07/2019 10:36

This was a small win so I felt the need to share.

If you've got hot feet and ankles, I used this yesterday. It's cooling foot gel from boots. £3.50 for cool feet.
www.boots.com/boots-luxury-cool-foot-gel-100ml-10153424?cm_mmc=bmm-buk-google-ppc--PLAs--(GB:Whoop!)+Boots+Pharmaceuticals-_-(GB:Whoop!)+Boots+Shopping+-+Category+-+Health+and+Pharmacy+-+Mobile&gclsrc=aw.ds&&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIhKLO_6PS4wIVBLTtCh2YwwKrEAQYASABEgLbjfD_BwE

I might need another tube by the end of the weekend. Grin
