Has anyone had bleeding and cramps at 6 weeks and gone on to have a healthy pregnancy

This evening I went the loo after having cramps all day and quite a bit of blood... I'm worried out my mind and waiting for GP to call me back about early scan

Any advice please this girl would really appreciate it

I don't have any advice as this is my first real pregnancy (had a chemical pregnancy two months ago before my expected period) but I am going through something similar. I'm around 5 weeks 3 days and last night I did have some pinkish brownish bleeding. This morning my pantyliner was also stained with rustic coloured blood, and I've had a few wipes o bright red bleeding, though no clots or stomach cramps. It has slowed down now.

However, I did ring 111 which is a help service in the UK and I spoke to an out if hours GP who told me that bleeding is very normal this early on and as long as you have no severe pain or heavy bleeding (heavier than your period with large clots) then you should remain positive. He advised me to remain in bed with my feet rested up until I go to the doctors tomorrow morning.

I'll keep you in my thouhgts. Fingers crossed for both of us Flowers

Also, he did tell me that it's rarer for women to NOT bleed during early pregnancy than it is for them to bleed. It has something to do with your uterus cleaning itself out for the baby.

Hi @NikolaPiccola thanks for your reply since this post I have had a early pregnancy scan and have seen the heart beat 😍 it was amazing

I'm 6weeks today when properly worked it out and everything is how it should be. I have an abrasion on my cervix which can cause bleeding (pregnancy cells grow on the outside of cervix and also from pessaries) so they think my heavy bleed was that or unexplained bleeding :) feel so much better now and every nurse I spoke to said spotting is very normal so I wouldn't worry yourself I had really heavy bleeding and huge clots x

@StarlyBeee that's so great to hear! Congratulations! :D Flowers Do you mind me asking if you had strong test lines? I've been getting positives on the cheapie sticks (today as well) and I had a faint frer positive but everyone keeps saying that mine should be darker. Idk, I don't want the GP to call me a liar I guess.

NikolaPiccola · 14/07/2019 19:02

This is what mine look like. I'm starting to feel like I'm imagining it if weren't for the fact that my sister confirmed the second line and I'm 7 days late for my period, which never happened before. Not to mention I feel really nauseas x

Thanks so much this is my first ever pregnancy so very nervous! I did get faint positives 6 days past embryo transfer which is about 11 days past ovulation :)

Did you do ivf ? If you didn't it's harder to say how far you are gone... I had faint one step (internet cheapies) then at five weeks got 1-2 weeks on clear blue digital and a faint/ medium line on FRER (I'll attach a pic for you)

know it's abit naughty but I totally recommended getting early pregnancy scan 6 weeks and up!! Has Chilled me out a lot

This was my first response! At 11 days past ovulation

NikolaPiccola · 14/07/2019 19:15

@StarlyBeee no I didn't have IVF. I wasn't tracking at all so I have no idea when I ovulated, tbh. I'm terrified of doing a digital in case it's a blatant negative. I'm hoping that because I had bleeding they'll give me a scan at 6 weeks.

StarlyBeee · 15/07/2019 07:41

I don't think I can tell from that yet I would wait a few more days and test again xx

NikolaPiccola · 15/07/2019 09:02

@StarlyBeee yeah it's very faint. A real squinter. But noticeable in person. I'm waiting for some tests to come in today. Shall keep you updated xx

StarlyBeee · 15/07/2019 09:44

Aww good luck sweet baby dust 😍

I did another frer today and it was more noticeable! I still can't get a good pic of it but I saw it straight away. Couldn't have been an evap as it did have colour! I'm still very nervous to have an early scan though. Terrified that they'll say it was a miscarriage

StarlyBeee · 16/07/2019 12:51

It's difficult isn't it cause you just always what if this what if that I went through years of it but best thing to do is keep testing every few days and hope it gets darker xxx

Hey ladies, I'm around 6 weeks today (I think from my dates!), it's my first pregnancy. I'm currently waiting on a call back from the doctors as well. I had light bleeding on Saturday through to Sunday. Which has started up again today through the night. It is very light, pale pink/red spotting I'd say, only when I go to the toilet. But my periods are very very light to the point a panty liner does me. It's been this way for over a year now. I'm trying to be patient, I'm hoping they will send me for an early scan to put my mind at ease... trying to stay positive at the moment!

StarlyBeee · 16/07/2019 13:58

Hey @nicannie every professional I spoke to said it's more common to bleed in pregnancy than it is not :) spotting is even more common than heavy so I would try and relax :)

Any hospital has an early pregnancy unit I went to the a n e and said I'm bleeding you can book in through the a n e if GP won't book one xxx

OP posts:
nicannie · 16/07/2019 14:15

@StarlyBeee thank you! I do know that part of it being common, but when the blood is essentially as much as i'd have on a period it is hard to not over think it and relax

Thanks, I'll wait until my GP phone back and then I'll see what they say in the first instance xx

NikolaPiccola · 16/07/2019 16:46

@nicannie my GP has said the same thing. It's more common than not. Miscarriages also tend to be more painful. We're in this together lol. I'm praying that I have a sticky bean. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you too! Flowers

resipsa · 16/07/2019 16:50

Good luck. My IVF bleeder - 3 weeks of it, heavy with clots - will be 4 next week! Never worked out what caused the bleed!

nicannie · 16/07/2019 17:12

@NikolaPiccola fingers crossed for you too!!!

myColoursareblushandbashful · 16/07/2019 19:45

I bled at 6 weeks with DS. Didn't have ivf but clomid. I had a cervical abrasion which they think was the cause but couldn't be definite. I was given progesterone pessaries twice a day for the rest of my pregnancy. I was told if we'd had IVF then I would have been prescribed pessaries anyway as it's standard in my trust.

Congrats on your pregnancy OP

I’m 6wk in ivf and had slight spotting worried sick, as desperate to be a mother. I rang the clinic they said it’s normal. Just the whole worry it will be taken away from me. Trying hard to be calm

Littlebb2020 · 26/03/2020 10:43

Sam16816
I had ivf too I’m 8 weeks and 4 days today I’ve had very light pink spotting at 6 weeks and lower back ache and had an early private scan and saw the heartbeat. Then again at 7 weeks had another scan and all was fine. This week I had brown stringy discharge when I wiped, really mild period cramps and back ache and was terrified that was it but again went for a scan at the epu and baby has grown and heart beat still going strong. They said it can be the cyclogest pessaries or just from having ivf. They couldn’t see anywhere the bleed could come from. I know it’s hard but please try not to worry unless you have pain. If you are worried go to the epu or book a private scan x

Sam16816 · 26/03/2020 12:39

I’m going for a scan Monday hoping all is well and the following week also, I’m told to use 3 pessaries a day now, pink spotting is prob off pessaries but it’s frightening I want to enjoy the pregnancy but I’m not, until they say all is good, this is my 2nd round ivf

Sam16816 · 26/03/2020 12:51

I just did a test 6wks and it’s a positive line, in the middle it’s slightly lighter than the last test. Should I worry

Natelee · 12/07/2020 16:29

Hi, im 5 weeks 4 days pregnant with my second child, however this time through ivf. Yesterday i had brown discharge which the hospital said was normal. However this morning i woke up to heavy bleeding red in colour and filled a pad, panicking i went to the hospital to get checked out but just told me to wait it on and monior.. As the day gone on its settled down and become brownish again. Has anyone else had something simular to this and ended in a postive ending?
