Hey guys!

I just found out I was pregnant!! It's been a very long journey with my sperm donation treatment but I am so happy that I am finally going to have a baby with my wife. Anybody here got IVF treatments too lately? tell me about your experiences! :---)

Hopefully you mean that you are pregnant, not that you was? Congratulations if so.

Maeve88Troy · 12/07/2019 14:12

@NoBaggyPants oh sorry if i didn't phrase it right but yeah I am pregnant now. Thankyou! Do you have experience with IVF?

MummyBear405 · 12/07/2019 15:45

Congrats OP! I don't have experience with IVF myself but my sister and her girlfriend are looking to do it privately at the end of the year so it's lovely to hear about success stories!

All the best for the rest of your pregnancy Smile

EAIOU · 12/07/2019 15:46

No experience with IVf just a hearty congratulations 💐

Ailsa84 · 12/07/2019 18:46

No experience with IVF either but massive congratulations Flowers

VictoriaBun · 12/07/2019 18:48

FlowersqFlowersFlowersBearBearBear Congratulations.

Rememberallball · 12/07/2019 18:57

Congratulations.

I’m currently 28 weeks pregnant with IVF twins and, apart from being monitored very closely for growth concerns with 1 twin, am having a relatively easy pregnancy according to everyone.

There are some things they watch ivf pregnancies more closely for such as gestational diabetes, premature labour and premature deterioration of the placenta but your midwife and hospital will discuss this with you as your pregnancy progresses.

RedPandaFluff · 12/07/2019 19:13

Congratulations to you and your wife, @Maeve88Troy! It's an amazing feeling, isn't it? I'm 16+2 with donor egg IVF.

Cosmogirl86 · 12/07/2019 21:30

Congratulations!! I am currently 33+1 with IVF ICSI identical twins, and I get to meet them very soon!

Now that you have the ivf over, I hope you have a happy nine months!

Maeve88Troy · 15/07/2019 14:58

@MummyBear405 Thankyou!!!! Oh niceee, where do they plan to get it! I suggest you tell them to do extensive research about it because some clinics really have low successful pregnancy rates. Maybe they can go to the clinic i went to!!

Hi @Maeve88Troy, we went to Northern Cyprus for our treatment and had donor egg ICSI using my DH sperm. We were told by the NHS that we would need donor egg ivf due to my age (I was 43 at the time and am now 47!!) and, when we looked into the cost of treatment, it was much more economical for us to go abroad so we then looked into which clinics had good stats for my age group and general results.

Maeve88Troy · 16/07/2019 03:15

@Rememberallball omg! what a coincidence, i went to Northern Cyprus too! Which clinic did you go to?? I loved the island and the treatments there are really waaaay more affordable!

Congratulations! Amazing, scary and exciting news all at once! Wish you all the best :)

Rememberallball · 16/07/2019 08:27

@Maeve88Troy, we went to Gynolife in Nicosia. Second cycle was successful for us and, if we did want to go again, we still have a number of 5 day embryo’s in deep freeze for us!! We loved Cyprus, even in January when the weather wasn’t the best, and stayed at a lovely hotel in kyrenia, walking distance from the town but with lovely gardens and facilities so, the week after our embryo transfer, we just stayed at the hotel and chilled out. The first time we went there we did more of the sightseeing side of things as had a lot of free time early in our visit and only a couple of days after ET before we flew home!!

Where did you have treatment?

RedPandaFluff · 16/07/2019 11:22

I had two cycles abroad and two cycles at Care Fertility - Care were fantastic the whole way through, even little things like the nurse making sure I kept at least a little bit of my dignity during embryo transfer etc. 😄

I found it all a bit gruelling and emotionally rough but that's to be expected and of course it all feels worth it now.

Are you having an early scan?

Maeve88Troy · 16/07/2019 15:06

Yes it was really nerve-wracking during the days leading up to my beta pregnancy test.... did you get ivf too?

Maeve88Troy · 16/07/2019 15:07

^^ this message is for @wirralweb :)

Maeve88Troy · 16/07/2019 15:15

@Rememberallball oh i read about them back then when i was searching for clinics to go to. Getting the treatment in Cyprus really feels like you are on a vacation! how much did you end up spending? I got my treatment at the Dunya IVF Clinic. their facilities made my jaw dropppp. Plus, their staff and doctors were all nice and friendly!

OP posts:
Maeve88Troy · 16/07/2019 15:23

@RedPandaFluff yes the whole process really tests you emotionally but it is all worth it in the end.. how much did you spend for you treatment?

I'm not sure about the early scan. I actually just had my second beta last friday! I wish i could fast forward to 9 months from now alreadyyy
