Hey guys!

I just found out I was pregnant!! It's been a very long journey with my sperm donation treatment but I am so happy that I am finally going to have a baby with my wife. Anybody here got IVF treatments too lately? tell me about your experiences! :---)

@Maeve88Troy, our first cycle including travel package booked through the clinic (they arranged our accommodation and travel to and from airport and clinic for all appointments - only 4 in total) plus flights we booked separately and spending money came in at around £6,000 - we also took my mum with us so there was 3 adults and 2 hotel rooms on half board.

This time round there was just the 2 of us (we lost my mum last year) and, instead of using the clinic for the travel package and separate flights, we booked a package holiday through a company called Cyprus Paradise which included the same flights as we would have booked separately, and the clinic gave us a very generous discount on the actual treatment cost so, in total this time round, we spent £3,750 or thereabouts - plus our room service bill for the 2 weeks was only around £200 including lunch most days and plenty of soft drinks!!

Aww, congrats! Great to hear nice stuff like this.

@Rememberallball how was the experience with the staff and doctors? were their facilities nice?

At the Dunya IVF clinic where i went to, i ended up spending around 5,500 Euros in total. I remember the doctor telling me about this Embryoscope+ device they have that makes picking the best embryo way easier. All in all, i really thought i got more than what i paid for. The hotel they got for me was very nice and cozy and their breakfast every morning was superb!

@Maeve88Troy, the staff at the clinic were brilliant and very helpful. The patient coordinator was good at staying in touch and keeping us up to date with how things were going. The Dr spoke good English and explained everything but we did find some of the nursing staff didn’t speak a great deal of a English - but the coordinator was always around to act as translator. Contact with the clinic was via Skype or WhatsApp as well as email. We got our treatment plan in advance and were able to discuss things usually getting answers to queries in a reasonable time. They do ICSI as standard and we were able to ask about using embryo glue (consultant recommended not to as it’s not proven to make any difference) we have remaining embryos in storage with the first year of storage covered in the cost of treatment. We didn’t ask about embryo scope specifically but feel from how they kept us up to date with progress of embryos that they may well have used it.

The only real issue we had with the hotel first time round was it was out of the way so little round it if we wanted to walk somewhere for a meal or entertainment; when we flew out it was a holiday weekend and a lot of the main hotels were booked up included all the ones they said they use and the one we ended up with was clean and comfortable but isolated out near the American university and under occupied as they were shutting down for the end of the season.

This time round, because we chose the hotel, we went for somewhere friends had stayed and it was much closer to Kyrenia town (maybe a 15 minute stroll) so we had somewhere to go during the day when the weather was nice. Also they had regular coach groups in who were British and so there were lots of other guests around and people to chat to in the bar if you wanted. Food was good with plenty of options and self serve. Could have lunches at the hotel which was useful when we were post embryo transfer and didn’t want to do much but rest and hope they stayed put!!

@Rememberallball they seem like a really good choice too! How many more kids do you plan to have after your twins?

@Maeve88Troy, if we were only expecting one baby this time around I think we would be discussing another baby later however, as it’s 2, we feel our family will be complete. Also, I have to take into account my age, I will be 48 later this year and so am very close to the end of my sensible time for having children (though my body seems to be tolerating pregnancy rather well and everyone says how well I am/I look).

DH has 2 adult children aged 30 and 26 and we have 2 grand children and a 3rd on the way (due end of September) so these twins will be the icing on our family cake!!

Maeve88Troy · 19/07/2019 02:05

@Rememberallball wow!! congrats to your beautiful family!! your twins will definitely be two angelic additions!

im only 35 and me and my wife are hoping to go through 2 more sperm donation procedures so we can have 3 kids in total!

@RedPandaFluff yes I did. I had a scare at 21 weeks with a bit of bleeding, good thing it was nothing too bad. I had backaches nearly all throughout but they stopped at 22 weeks.

@BaldCape absolutely, wonderful news like these.

@Rememberallball it has been a while since your past comment. I hope the twins are well?

Hi @Maeve88Troy,

We’re all good thanks - posting less because, as you can imagine, life with 2 babies is pretty hectic!! They will be 6 months at the end of next week and we fully in the throes of teething - but no actual teeth yet!!

Hope you’re well x

Maeve88Troy · 26/02/2020 11:03

@Rememberallball that sounds so cute! I can jut imagine what it will be like for you when the twins can run!

My C-section is this March 18 - can't wait, my belly is so big now I really want this over soon, but feel so blessed I came this far!
