Anyone convinced it's a boy and had girl?

Didn't want to know but pretty convinced I saw some boy parts at the scan! Liked the idea of a surprise and now convinced it's a boy (and no, I don't secretly want a boy!)

Anyone had this and been in major shock at the birth? I know shock finding outat 20 weeks but not when actually have the baby Shock

I'm asking as curious whether I could actually be wrong, as 2 people told me when you see it's a boy you know. They could've just been coincidences though.

I didnt see anything on the scan but I was convinced I was having a boy, as was DH. We were wrong, it was a girl.

StarlightIntheNight · 09/07/2019 19:29

Sometimes you can see something. I knew my son was a boy from the scan because I saw something. And I was right. But I got it confirmed via the scan anyway lol. I don't like surprises.

jpaws · 09/07/2019 19:31

I’ve been told mines a boy but can’t for the life of me figure it out on the scan photo 😂 so who knows.

MissCalamity · 09/07/2019 19:41

I had to have an extra scan at 23 weeks and was convinced I was having a boy, so I did get a bit of a shock 17 weeks later when he turned out to be a she!

Good job I'm not a sonographer!

Pinktinker · 10/07/2019 12:35

Yep this happened to me with DC3. Only baby I didn’t find out the sex with at the 2” week scan and incidentally, the only one I guessed incorrectly Grin.

hormonesorDHbeingadick · 10/07/2019 12:50

Me! But we didn’t want to know so didn’t see anything to suggest either way.

whywhywhy6 · 10/07/2019 12:56

I was convinced I was having a boy but I didn’t actually ask or get told either way. I just had a very strong feeling, as did everyone I knew and even strangers on the street said they thought I’d have a boy and... a girl! A big surprise, but really, I had no reason to think it would have been a boy in the first place!

BertrandRussell · 10/07/2019 12:59

Me. I was secretly desperate for a girl though, so I think my brain convinced me she was a boy so I wouldn’t react in a disappointed way to the baby.

TeaForTheWin · 10/07/2019 13:00

My parents, don't think it was the scan, think they just felt it was a boy. Hadn't even considered girl names.

'It's girl'
Dad: 'Oh...put him back, he's not done cooking'.

TeaForTheWin · 10/07/2019 13:01

...and no, o.h does not stand for other half in this context, but I guess it works lol

userabcname · 10/07/2019 13:25

Depends how clear it was? I've had 3 scans and 2 said probably boy, 1 said girl so I think I'm having a boy but it's not 100%. I think the cord can get in the way so I would prepare for either!

Triskaidekaphilia · 10/07/2019 14:53

Well I know you're talking more about finding out at the birth, but I had a strong instinctive feeling I was having a boy, my work friends all said boy. At the 20 week scan they said girl and showed us the 'three lines' which I couldn't actually see, but I did believe her. I was probably still only 90% convinced until we had a 3d scan at 30 weeks- I still couldn't tell myself but they're supposedly 99% accurate so I believe it now!

DH thought girl from the beginning so maybe his mothers intuition is better than mine! Grin

Chanandlersbong · 10/07/2019 15:44

I was the opposite way. I was convinced I saw a girl when in fact I'm having a boy. Looking through the shots I pointed out to the sonographer what I was looking at and it was his bum! 😂 At my last scan though he was showing off and left us in no doubt that he is in fact a boy. Also was convinced DD was a boy. Turned out I could just see some of the cord. Unless you get a really clear shot it's hard for the untrained eye to make them out.

Leleophants · 10/07/2019 18:11

@BertrandRussell I think I did that!

But then swear I saw a.hot dog shape by accident...

I had a late scan and I was printing at the screen saying “Look, I said it was a boy! There’s his willy!!!!”

How they all laughed......

HJWT · 10/07/2019 18:20

@Leleophants did it look like this?

Anyone convinced it's a boy and had girl?
DramaAlpaca · 10/07/2019 18:33

I was the other way round. I was utterly convinced for no reason whatsoever that I was having a girl & was in total shock when a boy came out. I'd secretly wanted a boy, so I was delighted. I'd have been happy with a girl too, of course I would, but it really was a lovely surprise to get my boy.

In my next two pregnancies it was very clear from the 20 week scans that they were boys. We had a side-on view of DS2, could see the cord & something else below it pointing upwards. DS3 treated us to a full frontal, so there was no doubt at all Grin

Cuppa12345 · 10/07/2019 18:37

Mine did HJWT, is that boy?

Emmapeeler · 10/07/2019 18:44

I didn’t find out either time.

I was convinced I was having a boy first time around. Everyone told me I would too. I didn’t see anything on the scan but I did confuse the umbilical chord for boy parts when she was born, so got a surprise a few minutes later when the midwife referred to her as a she...

Second time around I saw boy parts on the scan. But I only know in retrospect they were boy parts! At the time I wasn’t sure what the hell I was looking at so I therefore still managed to have a surprise boy. Plus the midwives when I was in labour were convinced he was going to be a girl!

notacooldad · 10/07/2019 18:47

Everyone convinced us that we were having g a girl.
So many people said it so we thought there must be something in it and had lots of girls names options.
She was Ds1!!!
That was a suprise!

higherforce · 10/07/2019 18:57

^^ Me too. I was delighted but absolutely stunned baby came out a girl

boosterrooster · 10/07/2019 19:00

I was 100% convinced that I am having another boy but had scan 2 weeks ago at 28 weeks and apparently it's a girl!!! Can't believe it, probably won't actually believe it until baby has arrived but definitely looked like girl parts!! Have another scan in 2 more weeks so will ask for another look.

Leleophants · 10/07/2019 19:02

@HJWT was more like a long thing with two small things next to it! But now I'm not sure!

wheresshegone · 10/07/2019 19:08

Yep me!! I was absolutely adamant I was carrying a boy. Right up until my private scan booked to the date of 16 weeks and was absolutely gob snacked to find out otherwise. Obviously ecstatic either way but very shocked
