Just curious. I’m 38 weeks today and weighed myself and I’ve gained nearly 3 stone since getting pregnant! Shock

I’m not conscious of having gained THAT much fat, although my arse and thighs are definitely bigger. I was just wondering how much of the weight gain is likely to be baby/fluid/placenta/blood etc?

I put on 3 stone with my pregnancy, not helped by being on steroids, I lost 7lbs the first 2 days (baby was born 8lbs) he is 2 weeks old today and I have lost 1 stone and 6lbs now

StarlightIntheNight · 08/07/2019 15:27

First week, 13 kilos came straight off. After that 1 kilo a month until I returned to 60 kilos.

Sweetooth92 · 08/07/2019 15:27

2st 4 for me in the first 7 days. Didn’t weigh any sooner but it fell off quickly in a few days

ParadiseLaundry · 08/07/2019 15:31

In my first pregnancy I put on 2.5 stone and lost 1 stone immediately after birth. I lost .5 stone in the next few weeks and it took about another year for the last stone to come off (thanks breastfeeding Hmm) although to be fair I made no effort to eat less Grin so by the time DS was about 14 months I was back to my original weight (9st 3ish)

Heyha · 08/07/2019 15:36

I lost about a stone in the first week (baby wasn't big), got another one to go but breastfeeding is keeping my appetite up!

Lemontree118 · 08/07/2019 15:42

Put on 3 stone both pregnancies . Lost 1.5 stone immediately, half a stone over the next few weeks, leaving 1 stone to loose. Took a year to loose the last stone probably because of breastfeeding

mynameiscalypso · 08/07/2019 15:54

I was thinking about this. Based on measurements etc, I reckon there's about 1.5 stone of baby/placenta/fluid (I have a lot of the latter). The rest of it is basically just fat and boobs so interested to see how long that takes.

Prettylittlebumblebee · 08/07/2019 15:58

I've went from 11 stone to nearly 15 and I wouldn't say I look like I've put that much on Hmm I'm "all baby" apparently lol

Tootyfrooty35 · 08/07/2019 16:21

Lost over a stone in first few days but baby was 11lb10 🤣

Gained over 3.5 stone in the pregnancy, and I was being super healthy as had a previous 11lber so thought I'd just been a piggy lol. Still have 2 stone to lose to get back to healthy pre pregnancy weight. I'm 12week post partum now. EBF ing but my body obviously holds weight. Meh 😂

Buddytheelf85 · 08/07/2019 19:17

thanks for your replies! It sounds like quite a few of you had pretty dramatic weight loss after and shortly following birth which is good to know. But I reckon I’m still going to have a least a stone to shift cos there’s no way I’ve got 3 stone of baby, placenta, blood and fluid...

Don't worry, you'll sweat out at least half a stone of fluid through post-partum
Night sweats 😭

Or maybe that was just me...

DoingItForTheKids · 08/07/2019 19:37

First time I lost 1.5 stone in the first 2 weeks. Was back in my clothes by week 4. Baby was born in May but October I was thinner than I'd ever been with no real changes just a constant breast feeding baby! I'd put on 3 stone during the pregnancy.

Second time I lost the about 1.5 stone in the first 2 weeks and plateaued I'm only 5 weeks post baby this time though and was heavier to start with.... No sign of getting in my old clothes yet....

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 08/07/2019 20:14

Both times I lost a stone from the birth, then another stone by about 4-6 weeks.

QuickRedFox · 08/07/2019 20:16

20 lbs gone three days after birth (I didn’t weigh myself earlier). It was exactly what I gained during pregnancy.

elliejjtiny · 08/07/2019 21:11

1.5 stone with my vaginal births. Nothing with my c-sections.

CmdrCressidaDuck · 08/07/2019 21:13

Absolutely no idea (except that it was at least 7lb). The last thing you need to be doing when you've just had a baby is weighing yourself.

stayhomeclub · 08/07/2019 21:15

I lost 2 stone in the first two weeks after gaining 3 throughout pregnancy. I am definitely carrying that stone as weight gain on my legs, bum, face though so it’ll be harder work to shift.

gotmychocolateimgood · 08/07/2019 21:16

I didn't weigh myself either pregnancy but was pretty horrified with my postnatal bump... It did go down quickly though both times. A lot was fluid. I kept doing massive wees for ages afterwards! It's a time of massive changes in your body. Don't rush to lose weight, concentrate on healthy eating to nourish your body and enjoy your baby.

ArtichokeAardvark · 08/07/2019 21:17

I lost 10 kilos in one day Grin childbirth is the best diet around.

Full disclosure - DS was nearly half that weight on his own!

Rhodes2015again · 08/07/2019 21:19

I gained 3 and a half stone during pregnancy and dropped 1 stone immediately after birth.

WindsweptEgret · 08/07/2019 21:19

Put on and lost one and a half stone, so back to my normal weight the first time I weighed myself which was less than a week after giving birth.

TotheletterofthelawTHELETTER · 08/07/2019 21:22

I put on 3 1/2 stone.
I got weighed the day I got home, thinking after a 8lb13 baby, placenta, a massive pph that i’d have lost loads. I’d lost 7lbs. My baby was more than that. I cried.
However, within 2 weeks I’d lost another 21lbs so 2 stone off, left with just the 1 1/2 stones to go.

I did lose it (the less said about the fact that 9 years later I weigh more than I did at full-term the better Blush)

Babdoc · 08/07/2019 21:31

I was 8 stone 5lbs before I got pregnant, delivered an 8lbs baby, and was back to 8stone 5lbs five days later. The secret is not to put on unnecessary weight during the pregnancy - eat healthy food rather than excess calories.
Nobody needs to “eat for two” - you just need the calorie equivalent of about two extra slices of toast a day in the final trimester. Many women these days are overweight before they even start, so should be very careful about weight gain.

HippoRampage · 08/07/2019 21:35

@sar302 OMG the night sweats! It was grim. I had pre-eclampsia as well so a lot of excess fluid. Envy < not envy

I lost 14 kg (over 2 stone!) in less than 3 weeks from being weighed about 24 hours after giving birth. My weight is distributed slightly differently now but I'm back to pre-pregnancy weight. Baby is 7 months and I'm breastfeeding still so might change again with weaning.

CatRash · 08/07/2019 22:30

I put on about 4.5 stone and lost 3.5 stone within 4 days of giving birth. It was amazing!! Baby was fairly small too. I had a shit tonne of water weight though thanks to pre-e.

I never lost the last 7lbs and I'm pregnant again now sooo
