@MrsR16 I’m mostly coping a lot better now. I still have the occasional wobble but in general I’ve accepted my changing shape. The second trimester was the toughest for that. I think staying active has helped a bit, I’m still working out 4x per week. I'm definitely looking forward to getting back to normal though.
My DH felt his first kick around 19 weeks so not too early for that.

@purplefig the swimming is ok, I’ve always found swimming fairly boring (I used to be a lifeguard so I associate it with work) but it’s fairly relaxing. This week for the first time I noticed the pull of the extra weight on my front as I climbed out of the pool so I think I’ll start appreciating the weightlessness aspect of it more over the next few weeks.

I’m enjoying the heat but my fingers have swollen slightly, I took my rings off to swim yesterday and now they won’t go back on 😞

MrsEG · 24/07/2019 11:34

@stormtrooperjulian It might be best to keep them off for now - my sister had to have her rings cut off in the delivery room!!

BabySquid · 24/07/2019 11:59

@purplefig our office air con'd to the max!! So I'm arriving to work in summer wear, then sitting down to put my cardi on, tempting some days to bring my slippers too!! Although they've turned it off today so it's just nice with the window cracked slightly!

@Fivebyfive2 that's so cute about your grandad getting to meet the old AV manager.

@MrsR16 so nice that DH felt a kick 🥰
@BostonFern yes that storm kept me and DH awake too! It was so loud!!

@stormtrooperjulian I'm going to start swimming soon, I also think it's a bit boring but I need to do something, can't face the gym, and as a former PT, that makes me sad!

11+2 for me and so excited for my scan next Friday then my party the day after where we can share our news with all our friends.

GimmeeCaffeine · 24/07/2019 12:20

Yikes, it’s been a while since I posted! Been so busy!

Well, DD is now four months old and thriving ❤️ This weather seems to knock her out as she’s been sleeping pretty much all day, only waking up for feeds!

OMG name change fail... it’s CobaltRose96 Grin

MrsR16 · 24/07/2019 13:27

@MrsEG glad you're doing ok! I hope the weaning off the steroids goes well for you 😊 DHs are awesome, aren't they?

@stormtrooperjulian that's great to hear! Shame about your rings though... that must feel weird to not have them on.

@BabySquid oh goodness your scan's come around quickly! So excited for you 😊

@GimmeeCaffeine she is just adorable!!! 4 months, where's that gone?

purplefig · 24/07/2019 15:38

@Fivebyfive2 ahhh he's going to be made up with that!

@MrsEG poor pups, I do feel for them in this weather. Despite my big chat yesterday about accepting body changes etc. today, I've also had a meltdown and have decided I've eaten so many potatoes I'm actually turning into one. Blerghh. Glad you're feeling better with it, makes total sense with the twins and steroids.

@stormtrooperjulian wow 4 times a week - that's impressive. I always swam as a kid, so I associate it with fun! As an adult I find it weirdly meditative.

@GimmeeCaffeine new name checks out! What an absolute cutie - you must be so in love.

MrsEG · 24/07/2019 15:57

@purplefig It really is hard, especially when you then open up Instagram and see some fitness blogger who’s 16 weeks and still has abs. But we’re all different and I’m just accepting my body just needs to do what it needs to do at the moment. DH owns his own gym so he’s already under very strict instruction to formulate an action plan for me come February haha (if I have any energy whatsoever!) How are you feeling about your scan next week? Mine is on Monday, I’m so excited but the nerves are kicking in now too!

@GimmeeCaffeine She’s so cute!! The name change is hilarious - at least you can have all the caffeine in the world now haha!

@MrsR16 Thank you, yes they really are!! I don’t know what I’d do without him taking me down off the ledge at times! He does keep laughing at me though for my hormonal meltdowns (usually crying because the dogs face looks cuter than usual)

@BabySquid Enjoy the scan and your party! That will be so much fun :)

purplefig · 24/07/2019 16:04

@MrsEG oh god tell me about it - I've actually deleted instagram off my phone. You're so lucky DH can help you come Feb. I'm planning to take some time to recover and then as soon as I'm cleared for exercise get back on it. But who knows how we'll be feeling then! I'm just glad it'll be winter and I can get away with leggings and baggy jumpers haha. My scan is on Monday too - I'm so excited to (hopefully) see him or her again. What time is yours at? I'm in the afternoon - DH has a half day and mothercare is nearby so I might take another snoop around.

BabySquid · 24/07/2019 16:25

@purplefig you're lucky, mine is Friday at 12 noon and my boss is on AL, so I have to go back to work after ☹️ I'll probs have a sneaky look when I go to town this weekend though. Might try to convince DH that we need to go to crown point in Leeds where our nearest mothercare is!!

MrsEG · 24/07/2019 16:44

@purplefig 9:45! Luckily my consultant only works in the clinic on a morning so I never have to wait around too long when I am seeing her. Hope your day flies by though! Shopping sounds like an excellent plan :)

stormtrooperjulian · 24/07/2019 19:00

@MrsEG oh wow, maybe my rings should stay off til after the birth then! Don’t want to risk needing them to be cut off.

@BabySquid you might find that over the next few weeks you start to feel more like going to the gym. I did carry on through the first trimester but I was taking it really slow, just trying to stay moving, then one day it was like a switch had been flipped and I felt normal again and ready to work out properly.

@GimmeeCaffeine she’s so cute! I can’t believe it’s been 4 months already

Fivebyfive2 · 24/07/2019 20:55

@gimmeecaffine, she's just adorable!! So good to hear from you xxx

@stormtrooperjulian, my mum had to keep her rings off when she was pregnant. I think she ended up getting a new wedding ring in the end!

Well ladies, dh is at a gig so I'm watching pride and prejudice in my pants with a bar of chocolate 🙂🍫 Bliss!

Can anyone advise what to expect from the 16 week midwife apt? Mine is on Tuesday, not really sure what the crack will be. I do need to ask why my 20 week scan is at a different hospital though! Xx

MrsR16 · 24/07/2019 22:42

@Fivebyfive2 my 16 week appointment lasted about 10 minutes! Listened to the heartbeat, had a general chat about how things are and cracked on with my day! Xx

BostonFern · 25/07/2019 09:42

@GimmeeCaffeine she's beautiful!

@Fivebyfive2 my 16 week appointment was brief- blood pressure, urine sample, talked over my consultant appointment at 12 weeks, checked how my mental health was. Didn't get to listen to the heartbeat unfortunately. Have they sent you to another one of the hospitals in the trust for your 20wk scan? I think GH are very busy at the moment so that may be why.

Hope everyone managed to sleep with the heat last night.
My DP and I have swapped sides of the bed so I can sleep on my left hand side a little easier, I think that helped a bit last night too.
My plans for today are to go through my wardrobe and pack up/donate the clothes I no longer fit into. DP is hopefully going to finish laying the flooring in the nursery.

purplefig · 25/07/2019 10:07

@BabySquid ahh, that's a shame. I'm self-employed, so can be quite flexible with my schedule. It's been a lifesaver in the first tri actually.

@MrsEG ooo lovely - no hanging around for you! I'll have some work to do in the morning and then we might pop in a bit early to pick up a few DIY bits beforehand, so I'm sure it'll fly by. How're you feeling today?

@stormtrooperjulian cannot wait for my switch to flip!! How's the kitchen coming along? We've pretty much finished the hallway - just waiting for the carpet guy to come over next week and do the stairs and landing. We got some 'fun stuff' arrive yesterday like the new lighting and runner, couldn't resist putting them up...it's looking so homely!

@Fivebyfive2 sounds like you're living the life! Weird about your scan being at a different hospital though, they should be able to clear that up for you at your 16 week appointment.

@BostonFern it wasn't so much the heat as my bladder....I had to get up three times in the night / early morning for a wee! Glad you got a better night sleep on the other side of the bed. Sounds like a solid plan for the day. I'm only 11 weeks but I've already packed up a load of clothes that don't fit, as they were depressing me! I've just put them in a suitcase out of the way for now.

When did you guys start to get a bump? My upper abdomen seems to have grown quite a bit already, sort of just below where my ribs are. That bit of my stomach is usually pretty thin, so it's quite noticeable. Whereas my lower abdomen has always had a bit of a little pooch, so hard to notice anything there. Gosh I'm painting a very attractive picture of myself aren't I Grin

Have a lovely day all!

MrsEG · 25/07/2019 10:17

@purplefig I’m not too bad today; awful night though, felt really ill from about 6pm. Dragged myself out for my evening walk and thought I was going to pass out - was home and fast asleep in bed at 8! The good thing was when I woke as usual at 4 I’d actually had a decent sleep for once :)
Here’s a pic of my current situ at just over 9 weeks - usually a size 10 and a few months ago I had abs. I’m not convinced it’s a bump though as the size changes during the day! Think it’s hormone bloat and fat (delightful).

Booking in with the midwife today, gearing myself up for aaaaall the blood tests!

purplefig · 25/07/2019 10:29

@MrsEG oh that sounds horrible - glad you've had a decent night's sleep though, it makes all the difference I find. For what it's worth, that looks like a bump to me! If it changes shape during the day some of it could be regular bloat too. I know the baby (babies!) are tiny at this stage, but think of all the other changes that are going on in there. Think it's bound to have an effect and if you're quite small - and particularly if you have a short torso (which I do) - and let alone if you're having twins, I think it's got to be normal to start to show earlier. Don't they reckon around 12 weeks is normal? If so, a few weeks earlier has to be common for some - especially twin mums!

MrsR16 · 25/07/2019 13:29

@MrsEG my bump properly popped last week at 18 weeks. I have a really short torso and my placenta is at the back, so baby has no choice but to push out forward! I've had bloating pretty much since about 8 weeks though, which made me feel huge! I can't suck in this belly any more though, so it's definitely baby rather than bloat. I'm feeling for you though - I don't know if you saw my little pity posts a few comments up, but I had a real down day about how my body's changing so quickly and uncontrollably. I'm a size 6 normally and have never had a tummy so for this to happen is taking me a while to get my head round it though!

For what it's worth, you look stunning though 😊 good luck with your booking appointment! I hated the blood tests... 😂😂 xx

MrsEG · 25/07/2019 14:12

@MrsR16 Oh Thank you! That’s so lovely :) I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at my booking in today to see I haven’t gained nearly as much weight as I had feared! About half a stone. BMI still in the healthy range too - phew!! My sisters bump popped at 21 weeks but she is very tall and quite ‘hippy’ so she didn’t show for a while, just always looked like she’d had a big lunch!! Bloods weren’t too bad - I’ve been prodded so much at this point 3 vials were a breeze! Hope you’re coping well in this heat!!

@purplefig Ah Thanks, I think it looks more like a bump than it actually is! Apparently with twins my bump will track about 6 weeks ahead so I’ll get bigger fast, but I’m sure a lot of that is all of the bread haha. Booking in went fine but I have SO many appointments - 12 weeks scan booked there and then though for just under 3 weeks time! Also as I left the midwife said that I’ll get a letter only if my bloods or urine throw up an issue - otherwise it’ll just be discussed at the 12 week scan ;)

Next scan now is Monday. Can’t wait to see how much they will have changed and just keeping every finger toe and hair crossed that everything still looks happy and healthy in there :)

Anyone in the South today?? My god it’s 34 just in Manchester! Luckily I’m WFH this afternoon with the fan on. It’s intense!!

purplefig · 25/07/2019 14:40

@MrsEG glad it all went well at your booking in appointment - great they got you booked in for the 12 week scan there and then too. Interesting to note about the blood/urine samples too - I don't know why I suddenly got panicked about it! Monday is going to come around so fast.

I live in Cornwall and it has been hot, but nowhere near the 30s. I'm on the coast too, so we get a decent breeze most of the time. Looks like you're in for a much needed thunderstorm tomorrow.

In other pregnancy news I've ordered a pair of maternity dungarees and have started looking for bits on eBay. Whether it's bloat or bump, I'm running out of clothes that fit already!

MrsR16 · 25/07/2019 17:39

@MrsEG great to hear everything went well! We hit 38 today in Peterborough... xx

@purplefig I feel ya with not fitting in anything! Mat wear all the way for me at the moment! Although I was stupid and didn't get any dresses, etc... trousers for work it is! 🤦‍♀️ hehe xx

Fivebyfive2 · 26/07/2019 07:49

Hi all, it's finally Friday! Anyone got weekend plans? Hope everyone was OK with the heat last night, we had another thunderstorm but it was still sweaty! Seems a bit fresher today though 🙂

@Bostonfern, it might be because GH is too busy or maybe there's a consultant at the other hospital they want me to see? Will find out soon enough!

@MrsEG, you look fab! And not long until your scan I see, I bet you are on tenterhooks, it's very exciting! Xx

@purplefig, aaaah dungarees!! Love it 😀 I struggled to find any so decided to wait until I'm further along in the autumn time and try again! Xx

@MrsR16, i got maternity jeans but for dresses I ended up just getting regular summer type dresses, the ones that are quite loose and light anyway and they seem to work OK. A bit of a jump from my usual style of black skinny jeans with black t-shirt though! I wanted a new biker type jacket for my birthday but decided to wait until next year as I don't see the point buying any nice 'normal' clothing at the moment!

Think I need new bras again!! The ones I got last month (in the sale thankfully!) are feeling really tight but maybe it's just the heat? 🤔

MrsR16 · 26/07/2019 08:37

@Fivebyfive2 oh goodness, I was literally saying the exact same thing to my DH this morning about bras! 😂 I've gone up to a DD at the moment, but they're now a bit small! Xx

purplefig · 26/07/2019 09:02

@MrsR16 Good excuse to hit up the shops/ebay ;)

@Fivebyfive2 there's quite a few doing the rounds on ebay if you don't mind second hand clothing. I'm privately a bit of a hippy, so love second hand shopping!

Last night I noticed an eye floater and it's still here this morning, so off to the GPs in a bit to see what they say.

Any nice weekend plans? We're off to see some friends tonight (think we're telling them!), final DIY push on Saturday and then catching up with some extended family that are holidaying down here on Sunday. And in-between that - lots of Doing Nothing!
