Out of interest is anyone planning to go into labour with a shaven haven & silky legs or are you going with bushy au natural?

But isn't that all the better for erm..... "fun"????

Rach35 · 30/07/2007 16:51

Love it - tried to tidy up below yesterday - smacked head in shower cubicle and frightened dog (who sits OUTSIDE the shower - not in it with me). Think I have got pretty sensitive skin at the moment as can't even contemplate a wax or depilatory cream - how am I gonna cope with childbirth??????

tokentotty · 30/07/2007 17:25

Well I do prefer everything to be gone as it just seems 'cleaner' if you like, but other things do seem nicer with it all gone It's just that I did try to grow it back so I could have the strip at the front again but ended up in hysterics with the beautician when we realised the strip would comprise of about 5 hairs - looked ridiculous so have no choice but to take it all off !

sfxmum · 30/07/2007 17:31

OMG am clearly an old hippy! does anyone actually care what it looks like?

you are in for a few hrs of agony or blissful drug stupor or maybe both if you are lucky.
what the lady garden looks like is the is quite irrelevant

MrsMcJnr · 30/07/2007 17:39

silky legs and a discreet landing strip is the plan but the reality will depend on what I can reach and see!

My Mum had me in Hong Kong - they exclaimed "wahhh so hairy" and shaved her with a bic and cold water, itched like hell she said and after that she did it herself before the next 2 births!

My sis was refused a bikini wax in London at 36 weeks - she was NOT happy!

tokentotty · 30/07/2007 18:27

That happened to a friend of mine, she got refused at her local salon in North London and had to go to a place near the City in the end. Very irritating. Good luck with your plan though MrsMcJnr !

Hi, i'm soooo glad i started this thread... if you can't share you're pubic hair grooming plans for the big day online, then what the point of a pregnancy forum eh?

I can't remember what I did last time but been in and out of hosp so many times this pg that half the town has seen up there, and it's not always been pretty! Still will prob get my usual wax, maybe get it shaped into a loveheart or something, at least it would be a talking point and keep mind off the agony!!

MerlinsBeard · 30/07/2007 20:25

are you kidding? i couldn't even reach my toes never mind manouvere my way underneath a bump to even see it, never mind shave it!!!

tokentotty · 30/07/2007 22:03

That's why I left it to a professional !!

Wilkie · 30/07/2007 22:06

Had a Playboy when I was about 20 weeks to see if I liked it in preparation for birth but felt like a plucked chicken.

Had an appt booked for a 'neaten up' at 39 weeks but gave birth 9 days early so it was a bit of a forest!!

Scissors + pregnancy bump = female circumcision waiting to happen

Lizzzombie · 31/07/2007 08:32

nooooooooooo TMI wilks!!!

RGPargy · 31/07/2007 10:25

What's a playboy??? Is that EVERYTHING off?? I thought it was called a Hollywood!

spugs · 31/07/2007 11:24

try to get legs shaved but cant reach bikini line by 40 weeks pregnant so no chance. my mate always goes for a wax though the week before shes due.

Wilkie · 31/07/2007 14:42

Brazillian - landing strip and nothing off underneath

Hollywood - landing strip and everything else off

Playboy - everything off

(That is what it is at my beauty salon anyway).

Brazillian is pap cos you get left with your bum pubes

Hollywood is my favourite

Playboy makes you feel like a) an 8 year old b) a plucked chicken

RGPargy · 31/07/2007 14:59

Isn't it strange how it differs from place to place??

At my salon:

Bikini - just a tidy up at the front.

Brazillian - landing strip and everything else off (including bum pubes!)

Hollywood - everything off

tokentotty · 31/07/2007 16:26

Am with you RG and that is the standard to be honest !

Naetha · 31/07/2007 16:38

Funny isn't it how people are quite happy to expose their hairy fanjos and bums to beauticians, but not midwives

Personally, I epilate (ouch the pain) my ladygarden, then trim the rest. I'd be tempted to get it done properly in a salon a couple of weeks before due date, but I don't know if I could face showing my hairy privates to anyone else! At least when you're with the midwives you're in a drug induced stupor - there's no excuses with a beautician!

Rach35 · 02/08/2007 09:24

Maybe we should petition for beauticians to introduce epidurals for the different 'Hollywoods, Brazilians and Playboys'. it is the only way that I would DARE go for any of these.......

RGPargy · 02/08/2007 10:31

Naetha - OOOUUUCCCHHHH @ epilating your lady garden!!!!!! You must be biting on sticks for the pain and everything!!!

tokentotty · 02/08/2007 12:46

And I thought having it all waxed off was bad..... Jaysus !

Naetha · 02/08/2007 14:13

I got as far as taking most of the top off and leaving the "undercarriage" and DH said to me "can't you do a bit more??".

I was tempted there and then to tie him up and epilate his scrotum.

The screams would have disturbed the neighbours though, so I decided against it.

For anyone that has experience of it though, epilating feels exactly the same as being tattooed in my experience

RGPargy · 02/08/2007 14:53

I've done both Naetha. Epilating is much MUCH more painful than a tattoo!!
